[up] Yeah, that's probably for the best.

Well, finals are over and done with for me (thank Naga), so I can focus more attention on writing a basic outline for the start of this RP. Probably going to be a week from today (Too long? Too short? I've never actually started up an RP here that garnered a decent amount of attention, so I don't know.) to open up the thread for the RP proper. Thoughts, you guys?

I can't speak for the other tropers here but I know that as a general rule, internet communities have a very short attention span so if you don't have anything planned out right now, my suggestion would be that you get the initial scene written up as soon as possible and let the players do their thing. In many cases they will react to their environment and allow you opportunities to improvise other scenes, giving you some time to get a better outline up.

Name: Alvis

Sex: Male

Age: 21

Appearance: Approximately 2 meters in height, Dark brown scruffy shoulder length hair, very slim build. Wears a long maroon coat over a plain grey shirt and trousers. Carries a well crafted rapier and a fire tome disguised with a fake cover.

Background: Alvis refuses to speak at length about his past though he admits to hailing from Kamir and having fled from the revolution while he shows signs of extensive education in elemental magic. Since arriving in Pohja he has worked as mercenary concealing his magic ability by fighting with his sword whenever possible. Eventually reaching Pellam mere days before the declaration of war he ha been forced to hide from the army "recruitment officers" while making plans to escape from the war.

Personality: Alvis is somewhat of a loner making him unlikely to associate with people unnecessarily though he becomes very trusting of those he befriends. Alvis has a low opinion of those he perceives as ignorant or unlearned without good reason and often furthers his own knowledge through reading.

Strengths and Abilities: Highly trained in elemental combat magic. Capable duellist. Experienced horseman. Well educated is a range of subjects including tactics and strategy.

[up][up] I see. I have things planned out; just don't know when to start the thread. We already have a fair number of players, so I guess it can open tomorrow evening. If anyone new shows interest, it shouldn't be too hard to jump in.

Double post. This is very, very important.

I've created the thread where the RP will take place. You can find it here.

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=14184567860A92201600&page=1#1

If you've not yet created a character and you are interested in joining this RP, please do so ASAP. The sooner the jump in, the easier it will be.

For future reference, there's no restriction on who can join or when they can do so. As long as you can fit yourself into the narrative well, hop aboard. It's worth repeating, however, that the sooner you do it, the easier it will be.

Oh man, I've been wanting to play a Fire Emblem RP forever. I think I'll try to get a character sheet going, it would be cool to see my cleric fight alongside Daltar's Pegasus knight again.

[up] Nice, nice. Welcome aboard.

It bears repeating: I'm actually stunned that this has generated a good amount of attention. Thanks, guys.

This is really reigniting my Awakening kick, and I'm tempted to jump in with an assassin disenfranchised bard that can help arrow people in the face keep morale up.

Also, you may want to start a discussion page.

If I had that kind of power, I'd have dropped a meteor on your house ages ago~

  • Name: Calais (pronounced cal-ay)
  • Gender:Female
  • Age:19
  • Class: Mage
  • Appearance: Has sand colored hair and dull blue-gray eyes. She has a slim build, and is just short enough to be referred to as scrawny. Wears a plain brown shirt with sleeves to the elbows, a red-orange tabbard-type thingy that mages wear in fe:a, brown pants from the female mage model in fe:a, and black knee-high boots. (Boy, I sure am getting creative with the costume, aren’t I?)
  • Backstory: Calais was born the only child of a rich merchant and his wife from Corsicoa, seeking to make friends with the social elite of Pohja. As a child, Calais spent much of her time being brushed off by her parents, who were content to leave her to her own devices as they managed the business or prepared for a party. Calais grew up being showcased to friends and associates of her parents and being pressured into being the trophy child of a perfect noble family, until she began showing a talent for magic. Her parents, delighted to find that they had a child of such a skill, sent Calais to a boarding school for magic, and, though Calais wrote at times, she found it apparent that her parents did not miss her very much.
  • At the school, while Calais did not make many friends due to their isolated upbringing, she was rather happy, until the emperor went into hiding. A few months passed, and though the emperor had reappeared, something was clearly wrong. That day, Calais heard whispers about an order from the emperor for all mages to be executed on the spot. That night, when she saw armed knights riding through the courtyard, she packed a few possessions and some fire tomes into a messenger bag and fled.
  • Personality: Polite on the surface, but comes off as a bit cold. She is headstrong, pragmatic, and very good at using words to manipulate a situation. She is surprisingly good with people, especially with analyzing people. However, she can be very stubborn and impartial. Many steer clear of her, but she can be very pleasant once she gets to know you.
  • Strengths and Abilities:
    • Connections: Her family has become quite friendly with rich and influential families in Pohja, and even more so in Corsicoa.
    • Fire Magic: Fire magic deals damage and has practical uses, such as cooking food.
    • People Skills: She can read most body language and is skilled in using words to turn a situation. (She's kind of like a magical used car salesman, except there are no cars in this universe)

(I hope this is ok! This sounds really fun!grin)(Edit: forgot the strengths and abilities part. it's in there now. sorry!)(Edit x2: CRAP I forgot age too what is up with me)

Hmm... another FE RP. Been a while since I joined one of those. Gimme a bit to write up a character, and I think I'll join up.

Edit: Wasn't expecting to end up playing as THIS guy (especially since he's a minor villain retooled into a protagonist), but he should do.

  • Name: Malsch (pronounced Malsh, for anyone who wants to know)

  • Class: Barbarian

  • Sex: Very obviously male.

  • Age: Mid-20s. He hasn't kept track.

  • Appearance: REALLY big, heavily muscled (especially the upper body), sun-bleached hair, and deeply tanned from spending most of his adult life outdoors. Malsch currently wears the somewhat-ragged remnants of a (rather stereotypical) lumberjack's outfit, for reasons which will be explained later. He tries to keep his facial hair shaved, but due to extensive time in the wilderness recently he hasn't had the opportunity to do so, and thus has a rather scraggly beard (light brown, for the record- kind of stands out compared to the rest of his hair).

  • Background: Malsch was born to a lumberjack father on the outskirts of Pellam, and chose to follow in his footsteps upon reaching adulthood, disregarding several offers of education from the Emperor's old public works projects. Though he squandered multiple opportunities to improve his lot in life, he realized his job was quite important to the Empire, and he did it well. He hasn't had an opportunity to meet any potential brides, but he isn't ready for that anyway, in large part due to his parents' relationship (though whether good or bad, he's quite close-lipped about).

All that changed with the onset of the Emperor's madness. In addition to the blatant robbery of the citizenry and murder of scholars, the Emperor's men have begun to confiscate the products of craftsmen at the source... or, in Malsch's case, attempting to: When the demand was made to turn over all the wood they had cut to the Empire for use in arrow and lance shafts on pain of death, the lumberjacks made a decision the arrogant official had not been anticipating, although in hindsight it was inevitable: An unarmed "tax collector" and a handful of bodyguards demanding lumberjacks to turn over their lumber... without waiting for them to put their axes away for the day?

Knowing that they would be hanged for the murder of the tax collector, the lumberjacks burned the cut wood they could not easily carry to deny it to the Emperor's men and fled into the woods with their families, taking up the life of banditry. Honestly, it wasn't as hard as they expected- already quite strong and highly used to swinging axes, it was a small step to begin using their tools of the trade as weapons of war.

However, this particular band has ties to one of the resistance movements that have been springing up ever since the Emperor's change; in particular, they have been contacted on multiple occasions to cause certain individuals to "disappear"- sometimes through murder, others simply fleeing into the night with a new recruit. Malsch is currently on just such a mission, ordered to extract a mage who refuses to pervert his research in the Emperor's name.

  • Personality: Malsch is, in a nutshell, the kind of man who is often described as an "overachiever" in his chosen profession: Stoic, diligent, able to deal well with tedium... However, he seems to have a bit of trouble connecting with others, possibly due to spending so much time on the job, and has absolutely no sense of humor. It's not that he's unfriendly, per say; he just doesn't understand how to say the right thing sometimes. He's the kind of guy who does menial tasks because SOMEBODY has to do them, and it might as well be him. He would dearly like to return to a more law-abiding lifestyle, but sees no alternative to the path he has taken up in today's Pohja.

  • Strengths and Abilities:
    • Malsch is strong. Like, REALLY strong. As in "he's regularly called strong as an ox" strong. It wouldn't be entirely accurate to say that anyone he hits is gonna feel it, for the very good reason of them sometimes dying instantly from the force.
    • Malsch is also tough. Not exactly INVINCIBLE tough, mind you, but he's definitely got above-average vitality.
    • After living in the wilderness for nearly a year (not counting his time as a lumberjack), Malsch is capable of foraging supplies and improvising tools and weapons (for example, take the head off an axe whose handle broke and attach it to a stick that happens to be about the right size).
    • Due to not being formally trained in axe combat, Malsch sometimes takes risks which a conventional fighter would not- and thus have difficulty anticipating. While this can get him in trouble, it can also lead to him inflicting grievous wounds from unexpected angles.

  • Name: Rellick
  • Sex: Male
  • Age: 23
  • Appearance: Rellick is a slender man of medium height, he has messy brown hair. He tends to wear hooded leather armor, and has a bandanna around his neck, which he often pulls over his nose and mouth. He has a rather feminine look to him, with bright green eyes and shoulder length hair. He has a pair of short swords hanging from his belt, five throwing knives hidden in his boots, another knife in his sleeve.
  • Background: Rellick is a sellsword, specializing in assassinations. A dark shadow, a flash of silver and scarlet, and you're dead and he's getting paid. Rellick is from Kamir, coming from a high ranking officer's with a whorehouse. Rellick, after he was of age, spent a few years in his mother's profession, however, he was sold to a man, who turned out to be a member of an assassin's guild, training to ex-prostitute to his way of life. Now working as a mercenary, Rellick sees the political factions as a background event, there's always someone willing to hire him. He recently killed a merchant in Pellam and can be found around the bar, wether it's a stab or a one-night stand, people are always willing to buy service when drunk.
  • Personality: Rellick is a kind of 'anything-goes' sort of guy, he's willing to torture, murder and pretty much do anything you pay him enough for. He's fully aware that he's a bad person, that's part of the reason he's leaving. However, he is also know for his hedonism, particularly sleeping around, Which, while he is as skilled as he claims to be, he's tended to be known more for how many times he ends up sleeping in a cell for his drunken debachery. Rellick also has a fascinating view on Magics and gods, basically, he will almost always try to reason it way, however, if it's helping, he'll believe in it with all his heart.
  • Strengths and Abilities:
    • Jack-of-All-Trades: Rellick has skills at intimidation, assassination, silvertonguing, fighting, Seduction.
    • Anything Goes- Rellick has no qualms about engaging in any sort of dirty tricks, low blows or unsportsman like behaviors.
    • Luck: Rellick is lucky. He's the sort of person that can get impaled and have the wound just miss his vitals.
    • Weaponry: Rellick has a short sword, a half dozen throwing knives, a dagger and a long spear like halberd.
