Lol there are plenty of foreign-aspects that lets people know a character is foreign in Japan that aren't blue-hair blonde eyes, , and this fails to work for the Japanese Mika and Karin.

SF devs(and a lot of Japanese game devs really) have a weird fascination with blonde hair and blue eyes(remember SF 4 blue eye nonsense?). I'd say they have a weird fascination with white women in particular too. Honestly it's kind of creepy, especially since that sort of fascination was an actual thing in Japan in the past. Shades of that still appearing in modern media isn't too cool.

Bison is thai comes from his SF 2 stage being Thailand. However learning that he was originally supposed to be blonde + the shadowloo logo being a winged skull leads me to believe he was originally suppose to be like an SS officer or something/

I thought making the foreigners blonde was because the "fair" Japanese are pale enough that they have difficulty telling between caucasians and themselves. And maybe I had that impression from anime...

In anime with largely homogenized designs yeah that's a big reason.

In street fighter though where there's greater design variety in terms of features and such? Nah. Guile with brown hair doesn't look any less white dude than guile with blonde hair.

also not all Japanese are fair. Quite a few are pretty tan or yellowish for lack of better term. I kind of think if an artist has trouble making his Asian characters look distinct from white ones they're probably doing something wrong. Plus a lot of times in anime if a character is foreign it's usually not very subtle about it lol.

Re: Red-headed fighters: I suspect if SF introduced an Irish character, they'd be red-headed because why wouldn't they? :V

Oh, and apparently Ed has been leaked as the next DLC character for SFV, which did not surprise me in the slightest. I knew they'd make him playable eventually.

Bison's weird

We don't even know if the body we see him in is his original body 'I mean he's died like 3 times before in this model of body'

Up till V, Bison entire scthick save Alpha'Where his body burnt out due to using the full pyscho power' is to find a suitable host, cloning the current model of body his got cause it works for now

2: He thinks Ryu's the perfect choice till Akuma sucker Raging Demon's him 3: He's confirmed Dead 4: He is given a body that is closer to his peak in Alpha... but by V that body has visibly Aged in the short time frame

V: He seem to have abandoned his whole body hop plan and aims to just give himself unlimited Psycho power... Maybe he is just gonna pull a Dark Empire and just jump from clone to clone when the body burns out... instead of trying to transfer to a host that cold handle it all.

Who wouldn't want a body like Cammy's though?

I wouldn't... maybe if Cammy were Ambiguously Brown I'd do it.

Eh, I can easily believe that they were just lazy and picked some mystical-sounding chanting without bothering to look into its origin. It's not like anyone without a background in Islam is going to be able to recognize passages from the Quran in a language they don't even speak. Apparently Nintendo did the exact same thing way back when Ocarina of Time first came out.

And I actually wouldn't put F-bombs past them, although that would be more likely to get caught before going international. I've seen manga and anime for kids that has stuff like flipping the bird and words like "bitch" and "shit," like their version of Did Not Do the Bloody Research.

I should've known this would happen. I heard that chanting when listening to the track and thought 'hey, isn't that the same chanting from OoT?'

I think they probably used it because, IIRC, it's a stock sound file that's actually been used in a lot of video game soundtracks. Though I'm surprised it's still in the libraries after what happened with OoT.

So guys, Ed is now officially playable and in his story it looks like this Fortune Teller he encountered may be a likely new character for Season 2... along with other characters featured at the end looking possible.

Not yet having seen the pics, reading "Fortune Teller" makes me instantly think it's Rose.

Anyone experience this issue on PC? I downloaded the patch (10GB) and when it's done, the download queue re-started, and not only am I redownloading 10GB, but it's got Moving the Goalposts problem, so if I download 1.1GB, the target is now 11.1GB, for example

If Harambe comes to SFV as a playable character then colour me interested. Plus that lady with the staff looks interesting. Though another blonde character potentially. :| Fortune Teller looks cool. Heard she maybe Rose's apprentice.

If they put a freakin Gorilla in I'm done with SF. Keep that stupid animal nonsense in Tekken. And before anyway screams GORILLAGRODD THO, yeah no, Grodd is complete garbage.

The fortune teller definitely looks like the second to last person. Rose reincarnated? Viola wannabe? Hmm I'm not huge on magical corn in hand-to-hand fighters and fortune telling isn't really a combat art.Maybe if her style is based off rhythmic gymnastics it'd be kind of cool.

Staff lady looks likes someone who knows Cammy. And lol took the words out of my mouth in regards to blondes.

Oho now I don't play Street Fighter (Planning too but can't at the moment, on a budget) I can't let that comment on Grodd go unanswered.

Is this bout gameplay or character with him cause if its about his character then you are dead wrong cause Gorilla Grodd is a telepathic, warmongering, bloodthirsty, tyrannical, conquering brawler of a gorilla from a city full of gorilla's who is able to go toe to toe with men as fast as the speed of light. Every single word in that description is awesome.

Despite Grodd being a hybrid grappler (compare: Laura), his command grab is kinda weak in damage terms, so basically his main gameplay right now is landing his semi-infinite.

The only reason it's not a true infinite is that the opponent falls to the ground faster and faster and eventually you can't re-stand them for free, but it's like Guile's Sonic Boom loops, the damage scaling makes it less and less worth it to continue, but you can optionally turn it into a reset anytime. That makes Grodd a beast in Injustice 2, though like most rushdown characters, he needs to get in on Deadshot before you can do anything.

So, not even the Capcom support could tell me why my double download of SFV Ed patch is happening, so I uninstalled the silly game. I will keep myself busy with Tekken while I slowly re-download the entire game of SFV.

That's the thing, it sounds awesome to you and Flash fans, but it sounds incredibly stupid to myself. I think my first exposure to Grodd was via the JL cartoon and even back then I thought his entire concept was ridiculous, and not in a cool way. I remember hating his focus episode due to how ridiculous the Gorilla city thing was. Grodd is just a huge ball of narm to me,and the primary example of corniness Flash's rogue gallery generally suffers from which keeps me from liking them.

Heh yeah the Silver-Age had some crazy shit, Grodd really is low-key in comparison.

Still impressive how big he is, dude appears in multiple cartoons, various comics, a triple A video-game & a live-action TV-show where in everyone one of which he is portrayed as a competent, menacing antagonist & as the big-bad several times. He should he should be proud, Lord his name be thy Grodd.

Every fighting game should have a playable gorilla, heheh.

Actually, Primal Rage did it first.

I love Grodd and also the animal fighters in Tekken. At one point, I could fight a bear as a utahraptor and I loved it.

Street fighter needs a giant bear so zangief can fight one in the game .

They did. Unfortunately, nobody wants to remember that game.
