I got some dark humor out of it.
It's something besides the car chase(mostly).
Gone, suckas!

"If you weren't so crazy I'd think you were insane."Ugh. That really is way too gloomy. I hope the movie isn't like that.
I guess I wasn't expecting Guardians of the Galaxy... but that is what I want it to emulate.

"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Harley Quinn was the highlight of the trailer.
And the Joker was actually really creepy. Congrats.
Suicide Squad isn't anything like the Guardians, movie version or otherwise.
They're a bunch of supervillains who get bombs implanted inside them and get sent out to do the U.S government's dirty work.
Yeah also sometimes the story ends with the whole team dead because the explosive collars, betraying each other, or failing in some other aspect of the mission.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureI don't mean character-wise. I mean, tone-wise. I expected this to be a fun, perhaps darkly humourous romp. Not a depressing sadfest.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Noticeably Assault on Arkham, widely considered to be a great adaptation, has a much lighter tone than what the trailer implies and it's still pretty dark.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Yeah, the trailer seemed more "trailer dark" than showing a darkness in the tone of the movie. The trailer was more showing off that these are some pretty bad guys and the work they're doing isn't good. Alongside the Batman V Superman trailer I can see why it feels like a trend, but I think that's more accidental - the Bv S trailer is showing of its movie's tone and themes more, but I think Suicide Squad's trailer is just trying to be dramatic.
Just look at Deadpool's trailer (if you can find it). The first half of it looks about as dark as this one before the tone changes (and even so, it doesn't change all that much), because that's how trailers are - Deadpool is unlikely to be as gritty as that.
Also, anyone catch that Waller at least in part has her sights on Superman as well as whoever they're going after here?

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I mean, generally I think a trailer should match the tone of the film it's presenting so that's not a good excuse as far as I'm concerned.
Maybe a better comparison for what I want would be, like, Saints Row 2 (I prefer 3, but I don't expect this movie to be that silly). Obviously funny, and humorous in tone, but not afraid to be kind of dark at times.

"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am.""Too gloomy"? I don't see it.
EDIT: Youtube links just aren't working at all this week.
Trailer was fine to me. I expect most of the comedy to come from Harley and Joker.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Yeah, the soundtrack is everything. Sweet guitar riffs feel a lot better than "Children singing slowly I guess?"
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am.""I Started A Joke" is a great choice though. A teaser for The Joker Blogs even used it (I really miss that series, it was great). Trailers aren't always great indications for a film's tone. Given that this one's a teaser and not a full story trailer or something should also be taken into account. This is just a bunch of vague dialogue over some equally vague scenes - which describes several modern day trailers.
I'm sure we'll get a wackier fun one down the line with some unfitting music, or even stereotypical badass ACDC music or something and cheesy shots of each squad member cracking a one-liner and then a dead baby joke in the middle of a mexican standoff followed by an awkward silence and then evil group laughter.
"A king has no friends. Only subjects and enemies."I still think it's a bad teaser, then. As are most teasers, really.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Trailers in general stink.
At least this movie isn't animated. Trailers for animated films are the freaking worst.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Other than Pixar's.
Yeah, that's a fan trailer.
Too bad. It's more interesting than the other one.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!-shrug-
After seeing Arrow, it's clear how fake that trailer is. Shame, I really liked that version of Waller.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!The arrow version?. I'm liking Octavia Spencer's Wall a helluva lot right now.
Anyway...I wasn't hallucinating Clancy Brown in the restaurant with Waller, was I?
If he's reprising Eiling, which it looks like he is, does that mean Suicide Squad (and by default Batman Vs. Superman) is in cannon with Flash and Arrow (and by default Legends of Tomorrow)? Because that would be awesome.

Well it's also a movie about villains being forced to go on suicide missions.
And just a preliminary trailer without the characters saying or doing much.
"If you weren't so crazy I'd think you were insane."
