My answer has always been to create a redlink link on the appropriate index (probably using a link from it modified to create a link to the page name I want) and then click that link to take me to the location of the page I want to make.
Nous restons ici. Thanks Night. There was already an entry on the Frozen Fanfic recs, so I'll just hit that link and start posting. Muchas gracias.
Okay, so second question. The fanfic in question is called 'Legacy' which when I gave it the Legacy tag went to a disambiguation page where I found there is already a fanfic (different fandom and author) with that name.
Any thoughts on what to do now?
Transplant the contents of Legacy to Legacy (Total Drama), turn the existing Legacy page into a disambiguation and create the new work page at Legacy (Frozen). Then use the custom title tool to make the former display as "Legacy (Total Drama)" and the latter as "Legacy (Frozen)". Hope that helps.
Thanks PPPSSC,
I think I've done it right, but I would appreciate wiser and more experienced heads just taking a quick look
The Legacy page now says it's a disambiguation page and points to the two pages below. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Fanfic/Legacy
The Legacy, total drama entry now points here https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Fanfic/LegacyTotalDrama The Legacy, frozen entry now points here https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FanFic/LegacyFrozen
Other than the fact that I have no clue what the specific coding is for indexing at the bottom of a page, I think that's it. Also, I'm going to suggest the 'how to index' page is updated with an actual code example.
Alright, did some minor edits, moved some subpage examples around, and indexed both Legacy fanfic pages. Good to go.
For future reference, indexing is as simple as finding an index page and writing a link in the list there, though you may have to null edit your page afterwards to get it to register.

On a similar note, I was thinking of making a page for my fic series. What's the general courtesy when naming such pages? I noticed that with Legacy, the pages were renamed to include the fandom.
So, would I name the page Antipode or Kingdom Hearts The Antipode? Since the latter is the name of the first fic in the series, anyway. Apologies for hijacking here. I just figured it was better to ask in a pre-existing topic, since the subject's already been brought up!
My Fanfiction Account | Kingdom Hearts: The Antipode seriesCommon courtesy says don't make tropes pages for your own works... at least, that's what I seem to remember, unless I'm mixing something up by mistake.
Well, I know that you're not supposed to rec your own fanfics on the site, for whatever reason (yes, KGON, I'm looking at you).
You're not supposed to put your own work into Fanfic Recs. If you want to make a trope article for your fic, however, you're totally allowed to do that.
You don't have to include the fandom name if you don't want to. This was mostly done because of conflicting works in the same namespace. That title seems unlikely to run into conflicts.
No, you are allowed to make pages for your own fanfic as long as you:
- Don't add YMMV items yourself (they are for the audience to decide, not the author)
- Don't use the trope page as a primary source for Word of God
- Remember that The Fic May Be Yours But The Trope Page Is Ours (don't Edit War, don't spontaneously delete the page after losing interest in the fic, etc.)
Well, I guess I was wrong, and for good reason.
Thank you for clarifying it for me.
It's not technically forbidden to make a trope page for your own story, but the consensus is that it's very bad form. Sure, There Is No Such Thing As Notability, but this wiki isn't a platform for self-promotion either.

Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...Yeah, that's the reason why I hadn't thus far. Someone else actually suggested that I do so via a review for it, which is why I've been entertaining the idea. That, and I'd seen others making their own pages.
Thanks for clearing things up!
My Fanfiction Account | Kingdom Hearts: The Antipode seriesI've run into the consensus as well, but I've also seen another consensus that most fanfic pages are maintained by the writers of said fics. Usually when I see the latter it's in the case for fics whose writers were tropers beforehand and who are literally using the fic for their own record rather than as any form of "advertising".

On one page that I made for something, I put something on the front page - a Write What You Know and someone came along later to put Trivia / YMMV tags on it, so I created a YMMV page for that. That's kosher, right? I was told by someone else to do that, so I'm not violating anything, right?
I am perpetually confused about this stuff. It seems I'm always having one person say "this is how you make pages" and someone else saying "no, this is wrong, this is how you make pages."
I almost feel like "If you want to make a page for your own work, cast fortune to the wind and do what you want, because everyone's going to whine about something."
Personally, the two pages for fics I started were made for fun. I started one long ago because other people and put it up on Recs for a fandom and I thought people here might enjoy a tropes page. The other one just had a lot of odd little purposefully-used tropes and I wanted to run through them. I literally have over a hundred fanfics of varying up on the Internet (I've been a fanfic hobbyist for a long time), mostly one-shots. I've only made pages for two of my multichaptered things, one of them being a 'verse and it's entirely for fun as I don't think anyone ever visits my ages except when they want to nag me for doing something wrong after clicking a link without actually having an interest in reading the fics. I also think that very few actual fans of my fics care about TV Tropes. So, yeah, my own record. For fun.

In which I attempt to be a writer.Yeah, I was just gonna do it for fun, because it'd give me an excuse to do some digging into tropes and see what I may've used intentionally or unintentionally while giving readers a place to list what they've seen as well.
It's just a matter of setting some time aside to do it!
My Fanfiction Account | Kingdom Hearts: The Antipode series
But I've never done that before, and god help me I can't find a 'build new page' function.
Help?
