Well well... it looks like DC is bringing back the pre-New 52 verse back.

In my opinion, this is so great. So much untapped potential went to waste because of New 52. And I will acknowledge that there has been some good in the New 52, but it really hasn't been outweighing the meh or bad.

Will the pre-New 52 verse coexist alongside the New 52? I better look into this.

You're running under a large amount of assumptions. We don't know if that is the case or if this is just a crisis crossover featuring those characters. Hell they could be bringing them back to drive the final nail in the coffin and end that universe ala Crisis on Infinite Earths.

While we're wishfully thinking, the best case scenario in my head would be not the abadonment of either universe at all because that's a slap in someones face regardless of what side of the issue you're on.

Your entire first post is stating your dissatisfaction with the new 52, and your excitement at the return of the old guard. I doubt you would have bothered explaining all that if you didn't believe at least a little that they some of those characters were returning full time.

Also this isn't the first time characters from the old continutity have appeared in a book. So you'll have to forgive me, if I read your message wrong. You weren't very clear at all.

[up]But I also put at the end that I don't know if the pre-New 52 will coexist alongside the New 52 or not. Sure, the New 52 has been disappointing me, but I won't jump to conclusions.

So they're better off dead then.

Somewhere out there, there are people grumbling "Pffffft, about freakin' time, DC…".

I'm hoping for the best. If all we get is just two months of old faces, I'll have to enjoy what we get. I hope DC doesn't start slaughtering old characters, but this is the company that brought the Earth-2 Superman back and depicted him beaten to death and dying in a pool of his own blood at the end of Infinite Crisis. If they'll do that to their founding character, they'll do anything.

But I'll do my best to be optimistic until forced to do otherwise.

I must say I am a bit concerned that the old universe is being brought back to either a.) die, or b.) shill the new universe.

I don't know where DD made this comment, but this event is being billed as "a love letter to DC fans." That suggests that Convergence wasn't Di Dio's idea. [lol]

I would prefer that DC simply use the Multiverse going forward. They have Earth-2, for instance. They have Grant Morrison's Multiversity mini, which established the other worlds out there. They brought back the Multiverse even before the new 52.

Instead of rebooting everything, just use the Multiverse. Marvel is doing just that, it seems, without rebooting the "main" MU.

For that matter, I'd prefer that the "classic" Titans and other legacy heroes exist on their own world in the Multiverse (Morrison introduced one such world).

And please, no further character deaths. It's clichéd, trite, and frankly offensive at this point.

Oh, and the new 52 isn't new anymore. How long is it going to be called "the new 52"?

Identity Crisis was supposed to be a love letter to the Silver Age. Modern DC seems to have a sadistic concept of what is love supposed to be.

I think it's one the stock phrases used in comic books. You know how when the phrases "Nothing will be the same" and "send shockwaves through the fandom" are used, it's always just them selling, not creating anything, just selling you dreams? Well this is one of those phrases. It's being used to try to lower the guard of naive schmucks who are willing to believe that something absolutely stupid isn't going to happen in this story that's gonna piss everyone the fuck off.

The smart thing to do would be to admit that they didn't have any idea what they were doing when they rebooted and use Convergence to tie the ending of the Pre Flashpoint stories with the postFlashpoint ones. I.e. Have Superman and Lois Lane split up, have Wally West decide to retire to the future, have Dick Grayson decide to become Nightwing again, etc ect and just act like there was never any reboot.
