I was pretty iffy on it (especially since the minions were originally supposed to be altered corn kernels), but after seeing the trailer, I'm looking forward to it.

I too prefer the "genetically engineered corn" origin for the Minions, but it was never official, I think. I'm more annoyed by the whole "without an Evil Master to serve they might perish" thing. Really? Happiness in Slavery is a thing in this movie?
Still, I won't judge the film until I know more, especially about what other characters there might be. The Despicable Me movies have always been about fun and charm, and it makes sense this one will too. Plus: being set in the 50s has a great potential for a James Bond style story!
