Agreed, the current isn't fitting for this one.
So-so on the current; I am inclined to call Keep Until Better Image Suggested though.
The suggestions are fairly tepid.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe "ten plagues" and biblical plagues" brings up a boatload of possibilities.
4.1 All ten.◊
4.2 Children's◊ version.

The current is terrible, but I'm not sure I like how crowded the OP suggestions are. @4 might work depending on what it looks like at wiki size. They look a little too busy for my liking as well.
Weeper Plague from Dishonored?
I'd be okay to cut with no replacement, tbh. But 6 is my fave so far.
Another possibility: a picture of a virus◊.
Emphasizes the "something so tiny" part of it, I think.

I think 6 is good.
6 seems like an illness to me. Not like a plague. 8 looks like a filovirus to me (which kind of have an "killer virus" reputation in pop culture), but do people know that?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMaybe 6, but I'm not sure.
Those are clearly fake, since Madagascar is infected.
Check out my fanfiction! What about the flesh eating virus from Cabin Fever?

Mileena MadnessSeems like a monster to me.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI thought it was a zombie. Never seen Cabin Fever.

Here's a picture of The Plaque!◊
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Well played.
Wouldn't that count as "just text"?
I think it was a joke
Well, it's the Trope Codifier. Also, I think we can let "just text" slide for such images.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanClock is set.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanGoogle search of the black death turns up a lot of paintings of people dying in the streets, if that is good enough.
Motion to pull the current
Regardless of replacement, as a guy shouting "ebola" is not this trope.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Agreed.
Normally I don't like pulling without replacement, but this is not only non-indicative, but it's also politically-charged which just seems unnecessary.

So the sole thing this image has to do with The Plague is the guy is shrieking the word "Ebola." The rest of it is topical editorializing (which even though I agree with the sentiment is by now pretty much out of date now that the ebola hype has pretty much died down). Really, political cartoons don't make great trope images, especially when they're only tangentially related to the trope.
Some◊ classical◊ illustrations◊ to get things started.
My personal favorite◊.
