Sheesh, talk about a colorful cast of characters.

@Lilyan Molhs: Looking good. Welcome aboard. :)

@Marit: I'm gonna need a history explaining why exactly the two set out to fight Dracula. Also, considering that she has a demon stuck inside her it might be problematic for her to, well, get along with the others.

@Erich: Not entirely sure. I mean, Dracula flipped his shit and became a vampire mostly because his wife kicked it. Then he flipped his shit some more when his second wife got burned as a witch. He also suffers from the same problem as Marit: being a vampire can prove, well, rather problematic when contacting with other vampire hunters.

Both are accepted although I'd like to hear you out on the matters presented.

@Pblades: It's generally best to have it backed with a piece of steel/some holy magic.

Well, Eric was for starters an outcast and a bottom feeder. He couldn't afford pride at first. He still has a very humble opinion of himself, a mere survivor of all his fumbles and moderate successes. He didn't want to become a vampire. He didn't know alchemy was a dying art. He was too scared to die if he sought help to get a cure. He just kept hiding, and surviving, seeing more and more death. But there was always a tiny spark of human ingenuity which made him wonder, and postponed his urges to join Dracula's retinue. Because just like him, the humans went through history fumble through fumble... but they put a man in the moon and could harness the power of the sun. As an alchemist and as a scientist he couldn't help but admire such ingenuity. Him getting attached to a human was the logical next step. And although sad for what he lost, he's not raging for what's dead, but what could still lose. In short, He's gonna pounce Drac's place because that's where his daughter went. If she had been captured by humans, he'd have razed villages.

As for fellow vampire hunters, Zauber isn't above groveling, whimpering, withstanding vexation and torture and appearing harmless if that helps finding his daughter. But the reverse will always apply. He will cut down anyone who messes with Rosa. Although beating the shit out of Dracula for info on the crimson stone could help too.

A bit of friction with other characters is fine with me - she doesn't tend to lie when asked but isn't going to be running around saying 'I have a demon in my head'. She has pretty good control over her condition so long as she isn't too hurt. Besides, a little in fighting sounds fun.

I'm working on the history section currently and it'll be done by tomorrow explaining as much as I can. It's 3AM here so bare with me, heh.

EDIT; Oh, I should clarify that normally only Marit can hear Vafthrudnir - so aside from her eyes and skin skin it's not painfully obvious that she has someone else living in her body. She tends to wear sunglases if she's worried about people knowing too.

Remember when Castlevania protagonists were a bunch of angry looking, leather clad savages instead of pretty men and women in fancy clothes? Thought I could try and take that into this roleplay.

Name: Jacob “Jack” Lockwood

Age: 27

Appearance: Jack is something of a stereotypical-looking biker, a heavily tattooed man standing at about six feet 4 and built like a pro wrestler, with disheveled curly auburn hair and a sizeable and equally messy beard. He’s perpetually clad in heavy black boots, worn out blue jeans, a stained white wifebeater, black fingerless gloves and a black leather vest with numerous patches. Jack sports a pair of full sleeve tattoos depicting angels warring with demons and other monstrous creatures and his vest patches identify him as a member of the Road Sentinels gang, whose logo is a pair of axes criss crossed over a white heater shield with a black cross on it.

Personality: Jack is a gruff, abrasive and headstrong person, brutally straightforward and honest. Stubborn as a mule and proud to a fault, he’s reckless and easily provoked into violence. Smashing his way through things seems to be his default solution to whatever problem pops up and he derives an unsettling amount of joy over how good he is at it. Despite these shortcomings, he’s admirably loyal to his friends and allies, sticks to his word no matter what and is not one to take advantage of others or needlessly abuse his strength.

Abilities: Jack is, physically speaking, a true monster. Freakishly strong and tough enough to walk off high speed bike crashes while wearing no safety gear, survive extreme temperatures with only mild discomfort and shrug off most poisons, he’s a match for damn near every monster in those regards and his tenacity means he can keep on going after taking absurd amounts of punishment. His agility isn’t as noteworthy but he can use his leg muscles to explode in short distance sprints far faster than his size would suggest is possible.

Jack compliments his overwhelming physicality with a brawling fighting style heavily based off boxing, and while his supernatural strength and toughness mean he’s never had to push himself or refine his style in order to do well in a brawl, it’s overall an effective means of fighting that displays good knowledge of hand to hand basics and an almost instinctive approach towards beating someone or something to a pulp.

Equipment:

-Gloves: A pair of black leather, fingerless studded gloves. Good for improving grip on the handlebars and making punches hurt more, not like Jack needs that. They look nice and mean, though.

-Flask: A simple silver flask mockingly adorned with religious symbols. It actually holds moonshine from back home, with enough alcohol by volume to be flammable. Carried in a pocket inside Jack’s vest.

-Red sphere: A polished red sphere somewhat larger than a ping pong ball made out of a rock-like material. Resilient enough that Jack could not crush it in a moment of anger. Feels warm and somewhat pulsating to the touch.

Brief History: Jack’s family was never normal. His parents, a Romanian sailor fleeing the law and an american gipsy witch, were the founding members of the organization that would later become the Road Sentinels motorcycle club. They attracted many a follower with strange backgrounds and abilities to their banner, their calling to patrol the vast american roads and protect the defenseless from the things that lurk in the night, all under the cover of a typical, small-time outlaw biker gang and their activities.

Jack was raised in this strange culture of motorcycles, toughness, fighting and the supernatural, and while his book smarts on the subject never amounted to much, his awareness of the things outside of God’s grasp and his supernatural physique made him as good a hunter as any. After the resurgence of Dracula’s Castle, however, things started to take a turn for the worse. Evil’s minions became stronger, more numerous, more organized. And soon, the hunters found themselves hunted, stalked by an unknown enemy that picked them off one by one.

Now Jack, the last remaining Sentinel, hunts for the being responsible, his only clues taken from his parents’ bodies: a strange red sphere and a note saying that the culprit would be hiding in Transylvania.

@Jack: Works for me. :) Is the red sphere something else beyond a vague artifact?

In any case, welcome aboard.

@Atomic Nut/Lt.B Gob: Explanations work for me. :) Definitely accepted you are, you two.

Also, an important info: since we already have seven people, I can only make space for one more. After that the sign-ups will be closed and the others will be put on a waiting list until someone drops out or the opportunity presents itself to join them without confusing things too much.

Ah, I remember those days, so much so that I've played Simon Belmont in another RP. Although nothing against the pretty boys, they're still badass for going knee deep in the undead armed with nothing but a whip.

@Fergard: I assume the red sphere is a reference to the item you get after defeating a boss in the original Castlevania

When I saw this was set in 1975 the first thing I thought was how awesome it would be to see Shaft versus Dracula.

I like the way you guys think, in a worrisome sort of way. wink And I'm totally imagining our kicking Dracula's ass with mid-70's metal or even funky stuff in the background.

So, with one space left (for the time being) I'm kind of interested to see what the character is going to be like. Particularly considering how... varied the current cast is, haha.

Yay! Well then, I wonder if I can get away with this. Hmm. Resurecting a similar idea from that cancelled Castlevania game.

  • Name: Soma Cruz (The Dark Lord, Count Dracula, Vlad Tepes, Matthias Cronqvist)
  • Age: 21
  • Appearance: Rocking that coat!
  • Personality: Soma is a pretty cool guy, if quiet and introverted. He's usually mellow, laid back but he's hella stubborn. If he decides on something, he'll do it. He dislikes secrets being kept from him,. He has a somewhat dry sense of humor, but he holds his tongue most of the time. Soma has no qualms slaying monsters, but is very uncomfortable at even the thought of killing people. If there's one thing he shares with his past self, it's the extreme protectiveness for his sorta-girlfriend, Mina. Touch her and he goes apeshit. The whole amnesia thing frustrates him a lot, and his greatest desire right now is to get home.
  • Powers/Abilities: Oh, boy.
    • The Power of Dominance: The Dark Lord's signature ability: the power to consume and subjugate the souls of beasts, monsters and demons, thus gaining their abilities for his own use. Currently, Soma has literally no souls and has to start over from scratch. Assuming he even knows he has this Power. He doesn't.
    • Dracula Reborn: Despite being fully human, Soma is still the reincarnation of Dracula. He is stronger, tougher, and faster than most baseline humans, though not to the extent of actual vampires (or even Dhampyrs like his sorta-son). This also means he can use most weapons with zero training, for some reason. On a side note, Soma can also slouch on a chair like a certified villain. Really.
  • Equipment:
    • Coat: A regular white, fur-lined coat. Keeps him warm, but it's nothing special.
    • Mina's Pendant: Given to him by his sorta-girlfriend, it's a shinto lucky charm. He always carries it with him.
    • Combat Knife: A sharp and durable combat knife that Soma found in his pockets. There is absolutely nothing special about it.
    • Bottles of Holy Water: Three of them. Also found in his pockets.
    • Cellphone: Not working. Time travel doesn't help with reception.
  • Brief History: Soma is your regular Spanish-Japanese youth...from the 2030's. While looking at a lunar eclipse with his childhood friend/sorta-girlfriend Mina Hakuba, they were transported to Castlevania. With the help of mysterious government agent Genya Arikado, Soma navigates the castle, finds out he is the reincarnation of Dracula, and defeats an insane priest with a god complex. A year later, some equally insane cultists try to turn him into the new Dark Lord. They narrowly fail, and Soma remains a full human. Since then, Soma has been travelling with Arikado, investigating supernatural shenanigans all over the world. In one such case, Soma and Arikado come upon a strange orb which Doma was compelled to touch, heedless of the dhampyr's warnings. He should have listened. Soma was hurtled through time, lost all of his collected souls, and most of his memories. He lands in Romania, in the 1970's, near an eerily familiar castle....

I don't think so. At this point he's Dracula 2.0 with Matthias being good ol' D.

At least I hope. At least one big minion of Drac will note that something's oddly familiar about this guy in a swagtastic furcoat.
