I gave Iolanthe a good start-to-finish listening, from the 1960 Isidore Godfrey recording (John Reed as the Lord Chancelor). I find I always like their act I finales. I like those kinds of lengthy, elaborate uninterrupted musical sequences.

Interesting that Strephon and Mountararat were initially played by Richard Temple and Rutland Barrington, but when G&S-centric companies perform it, they have the Rutland Barrington dude sing Strephon and the Richard Temple dude sing Mountararat.

Fanfiction I hate.
