You are an adventurer. Or... you want to be.

Born into a life of secrecy and theft, you have always felt the call of something greater. You take what others don't need, from needles and beads to the food you must steal to survive. You are a mouse, living with your family in one of the great communities hidden within the City. It is tiring, being a mouse. They are, by and large, creatures of habit. So when you heard that a mysterious fellow was paying handsomely for a party to go explore one of the great houses on the outskirts of town, you jumped at the chance...


As I said before, you are a mouse, facing the dangers of the great world around you, full to the brim with things that see you as the bottom of the food chain. So, over many years, your kind have adapted and become smarter, emulating the humans that live blindly above you. You borrow from them. But some of your enemies, too, have started to learn...

In your many communities, you and your kind spend every day trying to survive. Some mice get tired of it, though, and want to see the world. That's where you come in.

A mysterious benefactor has hired a party of mice to go explore a great mansion outside the City. He has promised to reward whoever returns with information handsomely, on top of whatever treasure they can carry back. You, of course, volunteered.

The information he gave the assembled party was this—

There is one human who lives at Loam House, Patrick Fitzgerald.

He has three cats:

They rule over several garden snakes, who answer to an exceedingly large mother snake named The Missus, and one Angry Guard Dog.

  • Age: in this world, mice have grown to live, at the most, 8 years. You are a youngster. Or not. As long as you can get around, you're fine.

  • Height: the same size range as a normal house mouse

  • Personality: tell us about yourself

  • Equipment: your employer has limited you to two borrowed items (be they weapons or exploring tools) plus some small rations and a small bag so that you may better infiltrate the house.

  • Skills: 2 tricks or other skills that you have picked up from living in the mouse communities of the City.

  • Bio: Who you were and are. Referential tropes are welcome.
