Currently, I copied the page source into a text file so I can analyze it and remove what's not In-Universe. If a game expects you to use this trope, or if they avert/subvert/defy it, does it count as a valid example?

If a game explicitly tells you to do it, it counts as a reference.

Games that have permadeath try to defy it, but I think that would be a trope of its own. Save Scumming Prevention Features, or something like that. Of which Final Death Mode would perhaps be a subtrope, although that trope is a bit wider with the purpose of removing saving completely, rather than just the potential for Save Scumming.

Got it. Well, I think I purged all the unneeded examples. Other changes, besides hacking at the VG examples:

  • One VG example relates to a webcomic, so moved that part to the Web comics folder.
  • Removed a Film example that is actually "Groundhog Day" Loop.
Will be migrating what I have to Sandbox.Save Scumming, so others can add to it or take some away from it, etc.

Bumping this because it looks like it's almost done and needs one last push. How's that Sandbox?

We may still need to weed out further examples. During the creation, the only VG examples I left were preventions, expectations, and references. The preventions could possibly go, so I may do another scan when I get the chance. Maybe the expectations as well if there's no lampshading.

Edit: Purged a bit more.

Looks like it to me. Swap and we can lock this up.
