If it matters, in the Viz translation All For One says "Your strength is the product of endless training and a wealth of experience. But I don't need it because your Quirk isn't one that would suit Tomura."

Basically Best Jeanist is Weak, but Skilled, taking a kind of crappy quirk and working at it for years to use it at peak capacity.

Tomura wouldn't bother putting in the effort required to do that.

And I think Af O wants Tomura to keep being the kind of person who wouldn't bother. I think Af O wants Tomura to become a sort of Joker... he needs to be competent enough to survive, but he needs to have no positive qualities at all except for that.

So I'm not the only one thinking All Might is going to die...

His death would probably send Bakugo off the edge, too. He's the only reason he cares about being a hero. Plus, this arc has been giving me major Sasuke Retrieval vibes.

We literally had a chapter called Bakugou The Origin about his origin as a hero. It's not going to happen. Every single time someone tries to find an excuse for him becoming a villain when one chance gets dashed.

Bakugou will remain a hero out of sheer spite at the people who think he'd make a good villain.

If anything would push Bakugo over the edge IMO, it'd be learning Deku was All Might's chosen successor. But the idea he'd turn at all is less and less likely to my mind as things progress.

If anything, learning Deku is All Might's successor would make Bakugou more of a Vegeta than a Sasuke.

That's always been my impression. Hell, Bakugo's rescue had to be tailored to not offend his pride by having the only one who actually liked him be the one who did the Take My Hand! moment.

A character like Bakugou going to the evil side would hardly be surprising anywhere else so I get why people bring it up. Still, it becomes more and more unlikely as time goes by, not the opposite.

I do agree the only thing that could really push him over the edge are finding about Deku being his successor but even that seems like a longshot at this point.

Edit: But, people really do need to stop comparing him to Sasuke. The two have absolutely nothing in common besides being regarded as prodigies. And I can't see any resemblance to the Sasuke Retrieval arc besides they both have kids trying to save someone.

That's why I've typically considered the Vegeta comparison more accurate. Even then, though, Bakugo has shown more willingness to swallow his pride then Vegeta ever did. The exam battle with All Might had him accepting Deku's help, much as he didn't want to, because he wanted to succeed more. I think he also accepted that he wasn't top dog after seeing what other UA kids could do.

Yeah. For one thing, they weren't even supposed to be the ones trying to pursue him.

For another, they didn't have to sacrifice themselves one after another to succeed.

And for the third, Bakugou is far more worthy of being rescued.

It's just fun to expect the worst.

Marathoning the fan comic/fanart stuff, and from the corners I visit, Kacchan/Deku is the most popular. This has become my new favorite thing, I think?? Vitriolic rival ships in general are a riot. A bunch of the short ship comics are so out-of-chracter.

I'd usually be alright with a rival ship, those are fun as hell. Deku and Bakugo kind of hate each other, though (That's just a boon for some folks. Aint gonna judge).

Deku doesn't even hate Kacchan. He knows he's an ass but looks up to him in his own way.

He looks up to him and can't stand him. He says it himself during several points. In the training match with All Might, AM mentions the mix of emotions that overwhelms Deku when trying to talk to Bakugo: antipathy, envy, and pursuit.

He's still important to him, since he almost murders himself to rescue him. Bakugo is the "friend" he can't stand, yet can't live without.

Still can't seriously buy into the pairing though. There's an undercurrent of begrudging mutual repsect, buuut still a lot of pent up bile, mostly on Bakugo's end.

I think I saw some adult A Us where Deku and Kacchan grew up and has mostly got over their differences. And honestly, I think that's where their current relationship will be heading to as well, minus the romatic part. Recent chapters make me prefer Kirishima/Kacchan more, though.

Also, we can all agree that Kacchan's the one bottoming no matter what, right?

I think all Kacchan needs to do is just apologize to Deku for all bullying he's done over the years. Seriously if he did that & if he honest to good sincere about it, I think we can all look at him a little more better.

New episode!

I can see why they made it really obvious how Midnight's costume works, but making the tights white just looks weird.

This episode's definitely the animation's low point so far. It makes sense, since money was bleeding out of each frame for the past 8, but some of the shots looked incredibly off.

It probably doesn't have to do with the money and more the schedule and the people working on it.

I imagine they're saving some for the next bit, too.

Worst case scenario is Gainax/Trigger level low end, and I seriously doubt it will go that far.
