@Nouct: speaking as a player and not Co-GM, I feel like it'd be really, really weird to have an unsupervised 12-year old on a trip that's looking like it will be filled with lots of barhopping and getting trashed. While teenagers do stupid stuff all the time and can be left unsupervised (somewhat) without the characters worrying too much, a 12 year old feels like it'd be pushing it.

@Dalek: Speaking a little more officially (though des can always overrule me), I feel like the mummy idea needs a lot more work, since Plum's character's existence really pokes a lot of holes in it, and the only real reason you have for why Larry wouldn't help Arthur is "Hand Wave it" or that Arthur has annoyed Death for some reason, but you haven't really given the reason. I also doubt that a necromancer's spell could overrule Death as an entity, as that would make for a pretty weak Death (though again, des has the final say).

Hey look!. Yu-Gi-Oh meets wrasslin'!

I going to pitch myself as well as my character. I'm fun. Several people already accepted can vouch for me as a good writer, and good at coming up with character interactions and things to do. It would also be interesting to have a character that isn't completely buddy buddy with everyone, and I actually knew about and discussed the RP before this sign up was even posted. I helped develop the idea, and I have given ideas for the benefit of the RP.

A pitch,huh?

Honestly I'm kinda terrible at pitching myself. In all honesty it might not be best to put my character in since he was written up in haste (well relative haste, forgive me for saying but it wasn't a very vigorous sign-up sheet) after remembering the Eldritch Abomination rule my first character was violating (in my defense it was of a non-squicky variety but I digress).

All that being said Bob is a comedic character (or intended to be one anyway) which I excel at writing due to my natural snarkiness. Aside from that all I have going for me is that Bob would make any in-game singing of "You ain't never had a friend like me" approximately 110% better.

So we got a bubbly girl, a nice girl, a tough guy who is really sensitive, an innocent girl, a joker guy, a laid back guy, the kid guy, the nerd guy, the rich girl, and a trouble younger sister girl. Neatly split gender wise. Roles are also nice and varied. Hmm...I'll think of something and throw up a character sheet later tonight.

Out of curiosity, would parapsychology in a world of monsters then just be considered psychology?

As for Mummy, I'm sure you can hand wave his situation if you want the character. Death always seemed more like a facilitator of the dead as opposed the the ruler of death's domain. More "Your time has come" and less "By my decree you are now dead". I mean if he actually ran a tight ship then you would not have undead at all. The necromancer's ritual could be considered to be "legally" sound, and thus nothing Death can do nothing without breaching his own rules. The necromancer spell keeps the mummy alive, thus he can't return to after life. Hand waved. Besides, its a laid back road trip rp with tons of monsters, are you really getting hung up on some small detail?

[up][up] Parapsychology and psychology are two distinct fields of studies (and most scientists would tell you that while the latter is (mostly) a science, the former is not).

Yes, I know, but this world is filled monsters, ghosts, and the other things parapsychology is supposed to study. Kind of pointless studying to see if ghosts or etc exist when you already know they do. In any case, it was a joke.

Name: Iris Nohman

Age: 18

Gender: Female

Race: Cyclops

Appearance: It is eye

Personality: Iris is something of a deadpan snarker and enjoys teasing her friends and giving them a generally hard time. Despite this, she cares deeply for them and is always keeping an eye out for them (pun not intended, but kept, so in some ways intended). If she sees a friend is having trouble she can come off maternal like. While she can come off a bit mischievous, Iris is actually pretty straight laced and a bit introverted.

Bio: Iris' friend/s told her about this road trip they were planing and invited her to come along. While not really her thing, Iris decided to go so she could make sure her friend/s don't get into too much trouble, and maybe have a few laughs at their expense. (Didn't want to be presumptuous and start writing about history between Iris and other characters without consulting them first. If she gets accepted though, I will talk it out with the others and see where she stands in the group. Besides that, her personal history doesn't effect trip all that much.)

Powers/skills:

  • Superior eye sight: Iris can see clearly object quite far away as well as make out minute details of things up close. Has no depth perception however.
  • Driving skills: Iris has her driver's license and is a decent driver. Has to wear special glasses with marked notches to help her determine distance while driving however.
  • Artist: Iris can make a descent sketch and take a good photograph.

Other:

  • Iris has no nose and thus can't smell anything.
  • She doesn't drink. Used to smoke, quit, then picked it back up. Currently quit again.
  • Actually gets along with her parents and younger brother.

Alright, now I got to pitch why I should get the spot right. Well just think of the good karma. See you do this nice deed for me and maybe the universe sees fit to have this here 50 in my hand slip and just so happen to find its way to your pocket. I mean one good turn deserves another right? wink wink

More seriously though, look at the character sheet. If you think it looks like an interesting character with something to add to the existing chemistry then add them. If you don't then don't. My own opinion is kinda coming from a biased source and is simply going to contain some variation of "I think my own character idea is good, you should pick it" with maybe a "the person playing the character is cool too. You should like them" thrown in as well.

That being said, Iris has a nice duality to help keep things centered. On the surface she is a dead pan snarker and is ready with a joke or quip for when things are going without a problem or when not much is happening in order to keep things fun. Meanwhile, if things go off the deep end and other characters are going crazy or wild, then Iris comes off more as a straight man to their antics and can help reel them in if need be. As a neutral point, Iris also helps frame other character's personalities and quirks. A nice character's kind deed stands out more when compared to her snarky banter, a joking or extroverted type character's antics show more when compared next to her more introverted mannerisms, while another introverted character's antisocial behavior can be highlighted with Iris regularly speaking her mind. Plus she can simply highlight someone else's deeds or behavior with an observatory comment/joke.

As for the the person doing the role play, their kinda...meh. Can get kinda annoying actually. I mean here they are double posting. Or, what I meant to say was "the person playing the character is cool too. You should like them"

Okay, I'll do my best to pitch but I'm not very good at it.

All is a character that goes against the elven "haughty beautiful nature loving" stereotype and so I think he'd be interesting. Also the sorta split personality triggered by even small amounts of alcohol. Somewhat like Captain Chaos.

I'll put up my pitch again but with more stuff!

Since my character is younger then a large amount of the cast, he would provide a viewpoint of a child rather then a teenager for the RP and would also bring different character interaction because of his younger age. Sarcastically Honest brought up a good point and so I think that the desperate desire to see the world, to be something more would drive him to be on the road trip no matter what.

So when will the last three character slots be decided? I think, aside from KSPAM, everyone who's posted their interested has posted their character and pitch.

I and Sarces have decided to accept Satty and Immortal Neet's characters. We're leaving the last spot open, in part since SPMA didn't write a sheet yet.
EDIT: Satty, there are two provisos: one, post in a decent rate (if you're posting less than me it's a problem), and two (obviously) no NSFW stuff. Comedy yes, PWP no.

Hey there fuckboys.

  • Name: Bud
  • Age: 15
  • Gender: Male-identifying?
  • Race: Possessed Gibson Les Paul Bass
  • Appearance: He was in a photoshoot once.
  • Personality: Bud prefers to stick to a state of consistent togetherness and order and sees himself as responsible for helping others find peace, fitting his nature as a tool to keep rhythm. However, given his recent abandonment and move into the road trip, he's sort of suffering from a lot of stress right now.
  • Bio: Bud was created by the rebellious son of an eldritch weaponsmith, who used his skill at creating intelligent weapons to instead create a guitar that would play itself. However, the kid noticed that with the basic personality all the intelligent weapons his family made, Bud lacked a real personality, so the kid imbued Bud with an eldritch personality of his own: one of a chill, laid-back bassist, someone who really wanted to make sure everyone was in tune. This was sacrilege to his family's school of weaponcrafting, and Bud was tossed out to the trash to rot. However, the magic in him kept him durable, and before too long he got picked up by some trash-pickers, thrown into a van's trunk, and forgotten about—until someone eventually opened that trunk, someone who was apparently going on a road trip. There were even musicians on board for it—damn shame none of them play bass!
  • Powers/skills:
    • Speech: Bud can talk, coming out sonorous, calm, and low at all times—regardless of his actual emotional state.
    • Durability: Bud's very difficult to destroy—he doesn't burn or freeze, and he's totally bulletproof. Supernatural energies and superhuman levels of force do work on him, though, and he's definitely showing the wear an old guitar gets.
    • Music: Bud can play himself at a basically proficient level.
    • Bass Bond: Should someone take up Bud as a wielder, Bud becomes infinitely more beautiful, playing with expert-level skill and mechanically precise rhythm.
  • Other: Anything that doesn't fit in the other bullets goes here.

  • Name: Ebba Skogsstjaerna
  • Age: Unknown though at least a number of centuries old. Appears to be mid-teens to early twenties.
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Skogsrå. (A Swedish forest spirit)
  • Appearance: and her back is hollow, she stores her most precious things there.
  • Personality: Ebba is a bit... out there, not really observant to her surroundings until it's too late and she prefers to stay quiet except for when seeing a cute animal. Then she'll squee and be over it in the blink of an eye, cuddling it. She also much prefer the forest over cities of concrete. She's very playful, enjoying to tease people, especially men.
  • Bio: Somehow born to a kitsune (hence the ears) and a unknown demon (but we all know who it is) she lived her entire life in the forest, only now and then visiting the other peoples and settlements bordering it and/or inside it. She was growing up to become the watcher of that particular forset when suddenly it was all consumed in a big fire and giant logging machines, rendering her homeless. However, thansk to a certain demon she got to join up on the Road Trip
  • Powers/skills: Being a Skogsrå Ebba can command animals and does in fact have a family of squirrels living inside her back. She also have an innate knowledge of forests she's in, able to disappear and reappear in it at will. She can also enchant guns to never miss by blowing down the barrel, good for cheating at carnival games. In the forest she is also much faster and stronger than normal.
