I think we'll need some evidence of misuse with a trope this large. Feel free to try again with such evidence.

On episodes recap, I nearly always see the trope Call-Back misused. It looks like many just read the first sentence of the first paragraph and don't read the part "a Call-Back brings back an element that is actually relevant again".
According to the laconic subpage a Call-Back is "A reference to an earlier event in a series that's relevant for the plot." and to the Canonical List of Subtle Trope Distinctions it's mutually exclusive with Continuity Nod "a reference to the past of the characters in the scene that doesn't affect the current plot.".
When I go to a random episode recap, I often see Call-Back used as:
1) An example of Continuity Nod : a reference to an earlier episode that is just there to remind there's a continuity and then is forgotten.
2) A situation or a plot that's midly similar or reminiscent of another even when there's no connection between the two. Such examples are often arbitrary.
What do you think? Should we change change the title? Make the definition more explicit? Change the definition to match the misuse?
