I can actually plow through those stupid ads on my own. I think it's more of a conbination of that, and the fact that I can't read Japanese, and your reaction/summary generaly gives offf a better picture than what I might have pierced together alone.

Well, I already spoiled myself ages ago about 111, so I don't really have any further comments :P.

So, 146 reveals Oka is a mind-reader of sorts. Well, that gives a lot of his earlier actions more meaning. But being a mind-reader, shouldn't he have figured out everyone's secret by now? Him getting freaked out at the talking glasses was gold though.

How long have Oka and Asahi been friends? Because now I'm imagining Oka's mindreading contributing to Asahi's inability to lie... like, Asahi could never fool Oka with a lie or anything and could never figure out why and it just slowly broke him. :P

Since middle school. Actually chapter 146 shows Oka's first meeting with Asahi and Mikan.

Chapter 112: Video games create bonds between men.

Poor Shirou, he shows up so rarely you forget he exists, and when he does it's to be the butt monkey.

And yet he doesn't deserve any of it. =[ I'm really looking forward to him having his own arc.

Still, the chapter is hilarious, but also pretty sweet. Masuda really knows how to write tsunderes right.

All the Genjirou chapters are pieces of art, aren't they? He was alwaysa laugh, but ever since becoming a substitute teacher, practically every panel he's on leaves a stupid grin on my face. He isn't just best girl but best character.

It's a shame the anime apparently stunk it up hardcore. Seeing silly moments like these in glorious 2D would have been killer.

Manga is 2D though.

I'm not sure if it's even fair to play huge character in fighting games. Asahi must be goddamn natural fighter to win so easily...that, or Genjirou is just a massive scrub. Besides, I don't fighting is a good genre for some bonding experience (it's called fighting for a reason after all).

edit: Oh, chapter 147 is a bit early this week. And it once again laughs at anyone who thought they could predict anything in this series. As Oka is dealing with some family issues on the phone, he stumbles upon Mei, Sen and Shima (who has become Sen's "mentor" it seems). He realizes that Mei has feelings for him, and that she's exactly in the same situation he is with Mikan. After talking with Fuku-chan a bit, he decides to give up on Mikan and asks… Mei out. Yep. My god, I want to see Asahi's reaction to THAT if it becomes a thing.

Also, as some people had guessed, Fukutarou (the pervert God of Fortune) was Sen's glasses all along.

Nerdy aside. Because hitboxes are so big, large fighting game characters tend to be at a disadvantage, even if they supah stronk

I'm just gonna give up trying. The second half of Jitsu wa is impossible to predict, and that is great.

If this is how Oka/Mikan ends, then damn, that's a gut-wrenching and mature way to wrap things up. Dunno where Oka going out with Mei will lead, but yeah, Asahi's reaction will be something to get exctied over

I theorized that Fukutarou's the one that made Sen into a perv. Everytime we saw Sen without his glasses, he was rather normal (big, big emphasis on "rather")

Unlikely I say. Rom-com usually stick with the implied couple, no matter what the circumstance. There's few that defied this trope, but the jury's out over how well its done (not to mention the backlash)

Oka giving up on Mikan is a good thing if you ask me. I like the story acknowledging that sometimes a relationship just isn't going to work and you need to just get over it and move on. Mikan needs to learn that herself.

I'd still say it's only temporary… Either his relationship with Mei isn't gonna last or she'll get the situation and turn him down, but he'll probably go back to Mikan eventually. If only to confess and get rejected properly.

Ending that arc on such a bitter note would be an interesting break of conventions, but I don't want to expect too much. :x

That Ironic Echo… that face… this chapter… perfection. You know the stupidity level is high when Karen is the Straight Man, of all people.

Aww, Akane-chan does care! And apparently that happened with every generation of her descendants. How sweet.

Akane is the best version of the mentor-archetype.

When a wise mentor has an eccentric side,it's usually explained away as a strange manifestation of their wisdom.

Akane, however, isn't acting like a sweet-obsessed, petulant little jerk to impart a meaningful life lesson. She just is. Even if she can be a level-headed older figure, usually she's operating on the same level of stupidity and petiness as the rest of the cast.

Enough of that tho; Masuda was on a roll when he wrote these chapters, wasn't he? Eevery chapter starting with the succubus one seemed to top the previous ones in hilarity. It's great.

I want this side of Akane to be explored down the line. Said this before, but we might get into some heartwrenching stuff once we explore her fear of being alone, and maybe by extension, her past.

I especially want to know what kind of man managed to melt her heart and to stand marital life with her. Her backstory might be heartwrenching, but it will certainly be hilarious. Probably both, as Masuda has become pretty good when it comes to mixing laughs and tears.

Do we know that she actually got married?

Also I like how sometimes random background characters just show up in the reaction shots like they belong there.

Yeah, for all we know, she raped a guy then just went off and had the kid. And that old guy with the mustache has shown up a lot in situations involving Akane. A relation of some sort? Husband, son, grandson?

Former pupil − according to Akane. I think Tesaki is and will remain a walking joke (I mean, if he was related to Akari she would know him I think), but it would be kind of hilarious if he was a secret big bad or something.

148 is out. Oka smiling! Oka sad! Oka angry! Oka blushing! Well, I was right not to raise my expectations too much, as it seems everything happens as I had imagined, for once. It's still beautifully done − and Mei had figured out Oka long ago, haha. Now the only thing I'm not sure about is how Mikan will answer.

One thing is sure, Mei is awesome.

Late response but-

I'll be looing forward to that chapter being translated. Oka rarely emotes beyond his usual deadpan look, and the supporting friend smile, so all that sounds wonderful.

The latest chapters have been wasting no time with the supporting cast. More Asahi and Youko being a sweet couple wouldn't exactly be terrible, and the box girl thing grnehgrnyeh but hey, good to see a series digging out joke and story material without dragging out the will they won't they bullocks.

Holla to the translator homeboys for giving us a new english chapter.

Delightful. This chapter marks the start of the series' most aggravating mystery.

Good mystery hooks and engages the reader, yes, but in the lord's holy name, this one has been a pain in the loins for weeks.

Chapter 114 summary: we have a chou fire way of concentrating on studying.

Weeks? Try half a year. The revelation had better be big after Masuda teased us so much.

But what surprises me the most is that their history lessons for the exams cover several centuries at once. It's like revising French history from the Renaissance to WWI. ò.Ô Also, Youko likes Russian Choux way too much for her own good.

Otherwise chapter 149. Same comment as the previous chap: no surprise, but beautiful execution. Also, at the start of the chap Mikan calls someone called "Saku-nee", who has just married… It's unknown whether she's a literal or symbolic big sis, though. It would be funny if "Saku-nee" was Sakuranomiya Sakura. X) It's so nice to see a romcom where the guys and the girls are equally interesting to follow. =]

Also, there's a short crossover of Jitsu wa and a series called "Vampires Die Right Away", which I've never heard of. Maybe it started recently.

Oh, hm, I though that the Honnouji Incident was the thing where Nobunaga torched all those monks.

And yeah whenever I see a manga talk about history they always talk about wildly different dates and don't seem to care if anyone actually knows much about the event so long as they remember when it happened.
