Alright, sounds like we need a crowner, since we have three proposed options. I've made one here
Thanks, it's hooked.
I downvoted the IUEO option pending a discussion on whether it should apply only on on-page examples or also on off-page ones.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanBoth. Both seems good.
Well, its been a while and vote is overwhelmingly in favor of the top option. I say this one can be called
Calling for making this In Universe Examples Only.
Bump. Where are with this?
I vote for "Don't allow recent examples, only add stuff when there's been a year since it mostly died down."
So, we've come to a pretty solid conclusion. Are we going to start changing the page?
Starred. I think the best way to start would be to sandbox an example list consisting of In-Universe examples.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'm doing that right now! EDIT 1: Ok, looking at the example list now, there's only 1 In-Universe example currently on the page. EDIT 2: On second thought, I'm probably not the best guy to put this together. Someone else should do it.

This is only a short list of examples I have pulled, not in anyway polished. Just wanted to know if this is the kind of thing we are looking for.
You might want to look in the Related To page as well.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThat is where I got those examples from; the actual example list does not have any in-universe examples at all.
ETA: OK, the sandbox now has every example I could scrounge out of the wicks. I am not sure all of them count, however, a couple look like they my be Playful Hacker or The Streisand Effect maybe.

I'd support making it In Universe Examples Only, but the problem lies with the definition in context. By it's very nature it seems to be devoid of any examples taking place within the fiction.
And rexpensive seems to have found more than I thought of

I think a Digimon Compilation Movie took the trope literately, something about spamming emails to slow down a Monster of the Week

Then that would be a good in universe example.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickCan we make rexpensive's sandbox the page for this? It's solid IMO.
So, do people want to go for Sandbox.Internet Counterattack?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI went ahead and launched the sandbox. Now only the wicks remain.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanBumping it up, as I may look into the wicks. This may be a lot of work.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportOkay, brought down the wick count for the redirect Internet Backlash to the double digits. It's being quite a monster to take on.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportAnd now the redirect is finished. Out of 120+ wicks, only a couple were converted; the rest were eliminated.
All we have left to do now is look over the main wicks.
Edit: Wick cleanup is finished. Motion to lock.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportAdded discussion page tag. One might want to start a discussion about unlocking the page but we don't need TRS for this. Closing this thread.

Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
Good, then making it an In Universe Examples Only page would seem to be the best route to take.
