It's certainly got the combat part but nothing's really saying "champion" to me.
I'd suggest something like this: 1◊. One of the most famous Combat by Champion situations of all time.
Or, for a historical one: 2.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."What situation is that?
(Rhetorical. Not good IMO. A page image is judged more by what it looks like than what it is.)
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I think it's pretty evident it looks like two warriors from two opposing armies battling one another while their armies wait by the wayside, i.e the textbook description of a Combat by Champion.
Smaller but shows the other army◊. There's the Robert the Bruce one as well.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I think "but shows the other army" makes a big difference.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.3.1 works for me...the other version is a little too low-quality.
5.1 is still a better illustration though.
5.1 is acceptable.

How about this comic, first and third panel?
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I prefer 5.1, though I'd like to see a better quality version.
That's not even depicting the trope at all.
Going to bump this thread,I'm supporting image in 5.1◊
New theme music also a boxAdd one more vote for 5.1. Showing both armies staying back makes it clear that it's more than just an ordinary contest.
Well, with that, 5.1 is up and tagged pending a possible better quality form; caption or no?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanA brief description of what it's about?
Check out my fanfiction!Well, apparently no caption it is. I've put in ^ as a quality improvement; otherwise, requesting closure.

This seems like a clear illustration
