Heh, I was sure that the "she" Maze referred to was Linda. Who I might add is a surprisingly endearing character, especially for someone who I assumed would just be used for a couple of jokes after her first appearance.

Was Tom Ellis the real singer in the last sequence? If so, damn.

Are angels allowed to lie?

Amenadiel already tricked Linda into thinking he was a doctor, so apparently, deception is not forbidden.

He also tricked Malcolm into thinking he could get him out of Hell or throw him back in.

My guess is that the problem is that Maze used one of Lucifer's feathers to revive him. Sort of like getting a blood transfusion from the wrong blood type.

Ellis has sung on the show for sure before, so I doubt they'd have him lip sync now.

And I forgot Linda was the name of Lucifer's shrink. We saw her and Maze bonding at the end of last season. Not sure why I'm spoilering this, but I am.

And I'm glad Amenidiel went at Chloe how he did. I was worried he was going to try to kill her. Way to keep in character without using the wrong part of his character.

I don't think Amendianel would ever resort to outright murder against someone like Chloe. Well maybe if God told him to.

I'm wondering when they'll get around to introducing Uriel. Maybe if Amenadude's power's stay on the fritz.

Angels can't kill mortals. That was part of the reason Lucifer found it so hilarious that he was threatening Malcolm. True, God can probably override that rule on a case-by-case basis, but I really doubt this would be one of those cases. I actually thought for a second that Chloe had made him mortal too. Have we confirmed whether her Anti-Magic only works on Lucifer, or all angels? Or on demons too?

Speaking of which, I wonder if other angels have their own version of "what is your deepest desire." I just have this idea in my head of Amenadiel drawing out someone's greatest hate.

I assumed Amenadiel's signature angel trick was the time stop. Lucifer and Maze never use it.

Chloe's anti-magic wouldn't explain why Amenadude's powers failed at the police station-i don't think she was anywhere around.

And she isn't around at the end when his powers aren't working either.

I think the suggestion is his time on Earth has changed him, made him 'less'.

Lucifer and Maze never use it.
Neither Lucifer or Maze are angels. Maze is a demon and Lucifer cut off his wings, so the only powers he really possesses are the "desires" trick and the whole "immortal" thing. Oh and a bit of telekinesis with that coin he had.

He has also demonstrated enhanced strength and the ability to use higher-level telekinesis. He punched through a sheetrock wall with no trouble, and there was that one time he threw the guy through a glass window in front of a dozen witnesses. I don't recall whether it was telekinesis or super strength, but the utter ease with which he did it definitely implied superhuman ability.

Chloe was there that time, too. I know I'm the one who called her Anti-Magic, but I think she just makes him mortal. She doesn't seem to affect his other abilities. Which brings to mind the question of why he doesn't just use telekinesis in front of her, but I guess he doesn't really care enough to prove anything.

Did the show make a stealthy joke at Trump's hands?

That episode was hilarious. And it took every chance it could to throw Tricia Helfer in a skimpy outfit. Bonus points.

How many inhuman characters has Tricia Helfer played or dubbed now?

Between Number Six, Zerg Queen Sarah Kerrigan, Unshackled AI EDI and now God's wife, it's like she gets the most specific kind of typecasting in the industry.

At least it's a geeky/nerdy typecasting. Could be worse. She could be straitlaced characters that do nothing interesting whatsoever.

She gave in to Lucifer for a while and then actually managed to pull herself out of it. Her having a naughty past that gives her extra willpower is an easy sell.

That was a fun episode! Ella is a cool character, I hope she will stick around for a while.

That was the best episode so far, and one of the best episodes of TV I've seen in a long time-the actual murder of the week was more or less forgettable, but that didn't matter one whit because everything else going on was so damn funny from the barfight to Lucifer, Amenadude and Detective Douche's adventure, to Lucy's reaction to Maze and Chloe moving in together.

Even with the introduction of two new series mains, Ella and 'Mum' the show has really hit its stride in terms of character interaction.

The ending I kinda saw coming (there are certain camera angles and such used that really say 'T-Bone!') but that's not a bad thing.

Aaaah I know why Ella looked familiar! She was Angel's sister in Dexter!

Soooo...now I really want to see Azrael, the Angel of Death. I wonder if we'll get her this season.

This episode had an AAA one-shot actor list. Mark Dacascos, Phil LaMarr and Charisma Carpenter? Yes please! Plus Lucy and Dan fanboying like idiots was tons of fun.

[up] I'm guessing since they called Azrael "she" that they might go the Sandman route and make her look like Death of the Endless (even though the Endless are completely different than Angels, this is an adaptation).

I love the little touches, like the bedtime story Chloe is reading to Trixie is Coraline by Neil Gaiman.

Julep Since: Jul, 2010

Getting Coraline as a bedtime story was almost enough to put Trixie in the Creepy Child territory for me. On the other hand, I can easily imagine her growing up to be a fan of Gaiman-esque or Burton-esque stories full of horror elements.

It is a distinct possibility for Azrael. On the other hand...wouldn't Ella kinda look like Death if she dropped the hoodie and exchanged her cross for a (larger) Ankh? Style-wise, Death is somewhere between Maze and Ella, so if they want a new female character to stand out visually, they will need to give her a distinct appearance. It's rare to have a show where two female characters have similar clothing styles - I assume that it is an unwritten rule so that the viewers instantly know who's who even when they aren't watching Orphan Black.

(Orange is the new Black being, obviously, the exception)
