I live in the Philippines and even I'm disgusted about the situation you guys have. You gotta keep the subject of Net Neutrality relevant even after Thursday as the FCC are trying to make people lose interest on the subject and they WILL eventually try to do this again even if their repeal isn't approved. Don't falter and think all hope is lost; not just the internet but the entirety of America's fate hangs on Congress' vote if this repeal is approved or not.

Go here to go against them and spread it. I've been going to the forums I frequent and posting this so we won't just wait for the vote and do nothing.

On a side note: I'm worried that this the breaking point for America and they'll try to overthrow America Code Geass-style and America will be ripe for other countries to try to take it. I know this doesn't seem plausible but I live in the Philippines and we already had a big rebellion a long time ago. If only people can universally united to stand up against something and this issue would never have escalated this badly in the first place.

I highly doubt net neutrality would be the point where Americans would physically revolt. It'd have to take something MASSIVELY major for the U.S. to break apart and even then, the country is pretty damn huge for a foreign entity to take over.

Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.

[up] Like, what if the protesters attempt to break into the FCC and they get shot and it's all caught on video? It'll be the Boston Massacre of this era.

What happened to the American Dream? I used to live in the States and I did not see it; the only thing that's left of that dream is capitalism and a flag.

The American Dream was a myth from the jump.

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.

The American Dream is currently going through a bit of a reality check.

The problem is that a lot of things are changing. The industries and fields that used to offer opportunities are living on borrowed time. If the American Dream is to endure, we have to try something new.

But really. If the government keeps doing stuff like this, the people, the people they were meant to serve instead of rule over WILL turn against them. Unless the government somehow does something that makes everyone love them again or reinvent themselves, in ten to twenty years, there would be a second civil war on the horizon if not, a WWIII

[up] I'm not just talking about Trump's admistration's making people lose faith, I'm talking all administrations for the past decades. With Bush and his sexual harassment scandals, Obama and his own FCC scandal with phones across the nation being tapped illegally, and with Trump's extremely polarizing tenure when it barely has been a year, the next president or Trump if he's voted in a second time might screw it up so badly, the entirety of America will be like Star Wars with the Empire and the Rebels.

Also, we got two very influencial politicians at our side now. Let's keep the momentum up and make sure nobody forgets until the vote gets in.

If there is a rebellion, I'm gonna quote a comment on KYM I found. Here it is:

You know what…?

One day, the United States of America will fall and crumble into dust, and it’ll be replaced with something else. Something bigger, better, and different.

But I can only hope whomever rises to become the leader of that “something” learns from the mistakes the United States made, and strives to become a better ruler than the ones who’re ruling us now will ever be.

Oh. I'll get back to topic. If we get a million names, we have a huge chance to stop FCC. Since I live in the Phils, my vote is completely meaningless but all of you Americans can help stop it. Go here, I know this is my third time posting this on this forum but desperate times call for desperate measures.

The FCC might shut down the site too and probably label it as "terrorism" or something so put your name their as quick as you can and do not delay. If you're a republican, democratic, or you don't give a shit about politics, this will effect your daily lives so you gotta get your name there.

Also, I'm frustrated only one person I know cares who about this and everyone else is like "Pshh! I have enough money to afford paying taxes!" That's not how it works people, tell that to the poor Puerto Ricans who are forced under these conditions because they couldn't stop it.

What about non-Americans? What are we able to do?

WillKeaton from Alberta, Canada Since: Jun, 2010

I don't know how a body like the FCC functions. It's so partisan that every time a new president is elected its policies do a 180. Under Obama, Net Neutrality was supported. But then, new president, time to do the opposite of what we were just doing. It's insane. I mean, our CRTC is non-partizan. The people running it and its goals don't change when we get a new government.

[up] There's places in the South where judges are outright elected on party platforms. The US has some very, very stupid hangups and problems with the way things are done.

Part of the reason things like Elections Canada and the CRTC are able to be so aggressively non-partisan is because the people in charge aren't expected to mass resign to be replaced every time the Federal government changes hands. Especially since they have fixed terms. The Prime Minister isn't happy with what the CRTC is doing? Too bad, there's still three years left on the chairman's term and at least two years left on the other 12 members of the CRTC board. The Prime Minister wants to pressure Elections Canada? Too bad, the House of Commons picks the Chief Electoral Officer. Also because the Supreme Court of Canada makes a huge point out of being non-partisan, meaning that there's that defence for it. (More than once, a Prime Minister had the opportunity to theoretically shift the majority of the court to his side...and then the court immediately turned around and smacked down something he was trying to do. I think it happened to Harper twice.)

...actually now that I think about it, the fact that the CRTC board has 13 members with staggered terms is probably part of the reason why it's so non-partisan. There's going to be more opinions than a board with a grand total of 5 people, like with the FCC.

Why do Americans refer to themselves as "the world"? You are not the only country in the world, and I highly doubt Canada, Europe or Australia will follow the US's lead on this and get rid of Net Neutrality, especially with most of the US being against it and the reaction it has got.

I'm gonna assume that referring to one's own country as "the world" isn't exclusive to Americans and claiming such is yet another excuse to dump on "shitty America" at a time when it's REALLY NOT FUCKING NEEDED.

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.

I fear if the FCC's plan goes through, many countries will try to pull the same shit and follow in their footsteps. People are too conditioned to not rebel against their governments and we need people who can't just accept this.

Even if you're not American and can't vote, spread awareness of this situation across the net. We can prevent stuff like this happened everywhere if all just know how bad it will be for everyone.

Also, who would be more effective for this situation? Lelouch or the Phantom Thieves? Would you mind control Pai or steal his greedy desires?

I'd go for the Phantom Thieves. While Lelouch sounds great, he can only use his Geass once. The Phantom Thieves would announce their plans in the most epic way possible and take Pai down and making sure he can never do stuff like this again. They would also strike fear into other politicians who thought they could pull the same thing and that'll be the best option for everyone.
