Or to be more elaborate:
"What have I done to earn this, that they didn't..."

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.None of these caption suggestions are clicking with me (there's something too "restating-the-trope" about all of them, especially 21), but I'm at a loss for a better idea.

Maybe we should put up a crowner? We got a lot of suggestions.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I was thinking the same thing. Lots of choices here; I'm not quite sure which one is my favorite.
We kinda need it to be "re-stating the trope" though because without a pretty clear caption, it honestly looks more like mourning.
I half-believe that the guy who added the bad pic did so as a gambit to get us to put this one on the page.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.To be quite honest, when I looked at the page and so the links to this image, I was like "Holy crap, why isn't this the page image?!"
Of course, there are legitimate reasons against that, but goddamn it, this picture is so good. XP
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel."The burden of living is sometimes not understanding how you escaped your comrades' fate.", perhaps? A little clunky, to be honest.

Hmm, how about:
"The burden of the living is heavier than that of the dead."?
Oh, how about:
"The death of the comrades is the burden of the survivor."?
Okay, maybe too restating the trope.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Caption crowner's hooked.
Wow, 8 potential captions? I've never seen that much.
It seems that, as of this posting, "Have I earned this...?" seems to be the top one.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Lots of good captions.
Heh, I'm happy that people get SPR reference. XD
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I've never seen that movie, but the words seem fitting regardless.
Oh. Well, it's even better, then!
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. The best references are the ones that also manage to stand on their own.
Also, something related to the page itself: I'm very tempted to cut that unnecessary mention of Mary Sue in there. It breaks the flow of the description, confuses anyone unfamiliar with the term, and there's honestly no important reason to bring it up. Any objections?

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."No objection here.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I thought it was more used in the other direction in relation to Mary Sues. As a cheap way to get them to angst and/or sympathy. Can go or stay; doesn't really matter.
Check out my fanfiction!I think it can stay, but it's a little jarring in that sentence.
So...shall we wait for more votes, or are we good?
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. We're definitely good. The caption's up and the tag's adjusted; locking up.
