[up]200 I have not. I'd better get cracking and do some cross-wicking.

In the meantime, have a high-quality video game rip.

[up]109 The Japanese version of her bio uses the word "otenbaa" which means "tomboy", so yes, she's definitely intended to be one even in the original game.

It still could be Informed Attribute, since she doesn't look the part, I will need to see the script.

Here's what it says in her in-game bio, word-for-word:

Japanese: はなを つかさどる せいぎかんのつよい げんきなようせい リップ。ちょっと おてんばだけど このゲームの しゅじんこう おうえんしてね! Translation: It's Lip, a lively fairy with a strong sense of justice who controls flowers. She's a bit of a tomboy, but she's the main character of the game, so give her a hand!

Still an Informed Attribute, I guess, considering there's not really any room for her to display her boyish streak in-game (besides the aforementioned Tomboyish Ponytail). But there you have it.

Well I actually already googled that already, but thanks.

That weird pose really leaves a lot to be desired in the bio screen... [lol]

It's like a young girl trying to look badass, but she doesn't really know how to do that and her pose just ends up looking dorky instead. Somehow, I feel that's in-character for Lip.

Anyway, I think fans of this serious may be going about this the wrong way, at least as far as getting Nintendo's interest. Maybe you should try appealing to the producer, or rather the memory of Gunpei Yokoi. Now that Kid Icarus has finally gotten a third game, talk about how Fire Emblem has been a long running success story, about how Kid Icarus and Metroid got critically praised revivals. Point out how these other three Yokoi produced games have became series with characters fans became very attached to(no death runs of Fire Emblem), became very impassioned about(just look at the response to the last two Metroid games), were put through the full range of emotions by(Uprising is the reference here). Then mention how there's another Yokoi gem(Panel De Pon) just waiting for a similar money making revival comparable to Metroid Prime or Kid Icarus Uprising.

Gunpei Yokoi's one of their own, moreover one Nintendo didn't do right by. A combination of guilt tripping and implications everything Gunpei made eventually made money (what is the 3DS but the virtual boy as Yokoi intended?) might get you something resembling that Panel De Pon game you want.

With Nintendo announcing mobile games for Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing do you think there will be a Panel de Pon mobage in the near future?

Generic Puzzle League, maybe, but I'd not expect the fairies.

I sure said that!

It's possible, but I won't get my hopes up.

If there's anyone here who'd like to join a Panel de Pon Skype group me and a few friends have set up, PM me with your details! Be aware that it focuses much more heavily on the fairy characters and setting than the gameplay.

Just going to use this space to muse. You don't have to read it, or pay it any attention at all really (not that you will)

I've been thinking, it's really striking how it seems to be us fairy fans against the world. Nintendo clearly isn't interested in reviving the series, and in some ways seems to be dead-set against it. No one is fighting for us. There's not really enough of us to pull anything like the EB Siege. In many ways, the fandom, small and scattered though it is, seems... complacent, almost, like they've completely given up hope on seeing Lip and co. again. It's up to us to keep the series alive at this point, so why aren't we doing more?

Why not code a simulator? Like "Puyo VS 2" exists for Puyo Puyo...

Does one exist already? Someone has to do it. And it has to have online play.

There is at least one Puzzle League fan game, but unfortunately (I think I've brought it up in here before, but...) it's based on the dreadful presentation of Planet Puzzle League. Lacking characters, and lacking character.

If I knew how to program and had any idea how the game's inner workings worked, I'd try making a simulator, but I don't, so I can't. Maybe someday.

Maybe try to get some involvement from the Puzzle League competitive community. They're a pretty strong and active fanbase.

Well someone else has to do it, not you perhaps, but some programmer in the Panel de Pon community has do to it. And it should have a bare-bones functional experience with generic graphics in its initial download package, customizable with graphics or voice packs downloadable just one thread away. (To avoid Cease and Desist from the big companies.)

If there are any volunteers, make sure to refer them to "Puyo VS 2" to see how it should look and work.

It might help to try to get a healthy fanwork community going just to raise awareness and show others how good these characters can be. If they've got great designs, prove it by drawing nice fanart of them. If they've got an interesting world and cute personalities, prove it with fanfics and comics and try to spread them around the Nintendo/Smash bros community. Try to drum up some interest in the characters before making a game for them, because right now that game would probably be just as niche and ignored as the fairies currently are.

Of course, I'm assuming the community exists and is just fragmented from the lack of gameplay when I said just make a simulator.

Also, nice Song of the Sea avatar.

[up] Thanks.

I meant more as a way to grow the community. What I'm thinking of is Adelaide from Kirby: she went from basically unknown to mildly beloved because of her role in Brawl in the Family. If you want more people to care about Lip and the fairies, you should look at cases like that.

So SGDQ 2016 did a speedrun of Tetris Attack, it's finally on their youtube.

Ew no, keep that heresy out of my fairy thread, please.

[up]217 I've been doing plenty of stuff around Smash Boards and my F Yeah Panel de Pon blog (check my sig for the link), but it's not really attracting anyone... so far. Maybe I need to aim a little higher?

The world of the games is definitely super interesting, and the characters are adorable. I've been considering a comic for a while, but I'm not certain if I have the art skills needed to pull that off, or the conviction to keep it going.

I think a simulator would be the best.

The next best thing is simulated online vs matches on emulators. (Like Fightcade. Not just for straight-up fighting games, people are playing things like Puzzle Bobble and Twinkle Star Sprites on it.)

Or get everyone to join the PDP/TA speedrunning community. You can promote it on your blog, even if there are "heretic" games being speedran too.

Honestly, as I mentioned earlier, it'd probably be best to get people in the competitive and speedrunning communities for Tetris Attack/Puzzle League involved. The people in that scene are strongly dedicated, and there are definitely people who play the PDP-branded games and people who want nothing more than another game in the series. If you get the people in the community involved, you'll have people with a wider audience than your blog championing your cause.

After all, a new Tetris The Grand Master was being considered due to Games Done Quick. Even though it never ended up in much (goddammit Ubisoft), there is always a chance.
