Poor Image: Film.A New Hope

Okay, this poster is a classic, but why does it have to be so low quality? It's dark and artefacted.

I could easily have found a better quality one and (like [1]) and changed it as free move, but on the other hand there's other contenders (such as [2], [3] or [4]), so I'm opening this thread to see which one is the most popular. Unless you guys have other suggestions.

An important question is whether we want the title A New Hope to be prominent, if Star Wars is fine enough, or if we keep the poster pruned of any title to avoid controversy.

Here's another version of the current, somewhat brightened and up-contrasted in GIMP:

It's still of low quality. The starfield is barely visible for one. I'm sure I could get something better with the first link suggested in the OP. I can cut the low part of the poster if we want only the image.

Sure? I can see the star field pretty well actually. Also, I didn't see any "better quality" images of that scene in GIS.

The only real problem is that some of the bright colours seem to bleed a little, and even that is rather minor.

Those first two links didn't work for me.

There's something wonky with the uploading, all right. I tried a version, and I can't even get my own upload to show for me.

[down]Hadn't read that one yet.

[up] Like I said in the other thread, if you get that error, remove the "static." from the URL.

[up] That's the best version of the current so far, and my overall favorite of everything.

Yes, very clear improvement. Better colors and definition.

Probably the most iconic, and showing the most elements of the movie, so I understand the preference.

Not to be contrary, because you've done a lot of work on that image and is still good, but the most iconic poster from the movie is easily this image, with a buff Luke holding the lightsaber up high and Leia draped at his legs.

It is? It's not as illustrative, though.

Agreed; that poster may be more iconic, but I prefer the version that's on the page now.

While we're at it, I just noticed Humans Are White uses the same (low quality) poster.

It's not a very good illustration for the trope. Should I start another thread for duplicate?

I'd start another thread.

Since it's just a quality upgrade, I've swapped the current image with the one in 9.

I honestly have no opinion about whether to use this poster or the Stab the Sky one, so I'd probably default to the status quo.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.
