What makes you think it's a bug?
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.The idea that these tags are votes, I guess. And a lot of people I see treat them like votes.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIf it's not a bug, I still suggest the removal due to what said (ie, they see the tags more as votes, which isn't intended, especially since nothing's stopping a single person from adding more than one of the same tag and thus, potentially tricking everyone into thinking there's a high amount of "motions to discard".)
Worth noting that if motions to discard are used as votes, what are the corresponding "motions to keep"?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWhy would this be intended behavior? What reason would you have for putting up multiple versions of any tag other than Motion to Discard?
I think it's called a "misfeature".
What?! How isn't this a bug? I guess that explains why it hasn't been fixed. Even if it's working as intended, one person shouldn't be able to add multiple tags like you can now. Though it really could stand to have a forum type poll system if it's meant to be used that way.
A bug that had been there for a while is the fact that it's possible to add duplicate tags to a YKTTW discussion.
This wouldn't be a problem in of this self if it weren't for the fact that one of the tags is called "Motion to Discard", meaning not only do people think it can be used to democratically vote to discard the page and thus, keep on adding more and more "Motion to Discard" tags, they also believe that the consensus resulting from the tags is valid, whether or not it really does needs to be discarded for one reason or another.
This's been happening for a while, already.
