I've decided to call this a duplicate trope because in my opinion that's what this is - probably two thirds of every thing mentioned on this page has been duplicated on the individual Fridge tabs that come with each TV show and film. As a result this page has become very long, very bloated and dare I say it pointless. At the very least, if it is decided that this page should be kept, Fridge: Star Trek needs some serious formatting work as repeat/similar entries seem to pop up often and there is minimal ordering on show here; making it rather hard to follow in places.

I think you are saying that because there are fridge pages for TOS and Generation and so on, this franchise-level page is redundant. Which fridge pages are redundant is my question. Which is better, one stop shopping re Star Trek, or lots of little shops? And why not have some duplication where it serves people's approach to that question?

If we need to fix this - I am not convinced on it - fixing one big page would be easier than to remove all other pages.

Worth noting that this page has 59 inbounds so it's clearly getting some usage.

[up] The actual problems with the current state of the page at the moment are, as i see them, first and fundamentally, it's breaks the system with regards to the Film.Star Trek page whose state of having a Fridge page is best described as snajkfn. Is there a page for that movie but a load of unrelated films are on it? Or does it not have such a page at all, the page is for the franchise?

Second, it's just a confusing mess to read at the moment. A big thread mode of conversations about things that dance from one part of the franchise to the other usually without explaining which part. One could have seen hundreds of hours of Star Trek material and still just have no clue about what you are reading. If you want to get to a bit you understand, you have to find it. Organising the page, considering the size of the franchise, becomes putting everything onto subpages for each franchise installment anyway.

Third, if we assume that we do actually want people to read the entries and everything, then redundancy is bad because material will end up on one page but not the other, corrections will end up on one page but not the other, readers will read one page but not the other. The only way anybody would think that there would be some useless redundancy that causes them to hop around needless and would only take a minute to fix is if there is some rigid system replicated elsewhere that points them to it but if you look at every other namespace it's organised in this neat and tidy and nonredundant, disambiguating fashion.

It refers to Star Trek. Subpage collision is an issue but properly for this topic.

That said, yeah, the Thread Mode is an eyesore.

I put in links to the subpages and I moved in some examples to Fridge.Star Trek 2009 but I spent most of my allotted editing time for the day on the above post.
