There actually is a Legend of Korra thread right here, but there is no general Avatar one. I think you can still post stuff there if you want to. I've heard of Scorched Earth, but I've never read it before because of the length.
My favorite will always be Guide Me Home. I have found a few that need more love, especially Looking Like Daddy. synopsis is that Zuko's daughter paints her face to look like his scar, and awkwardness ensues. Also fluff. Lots of fluff
Can I have some links?
Also, I've always liked this one. The general idea is that it's a collection of historical sources of Aang's life, as well as those who knew him. It covers the events of the show, as well as after. This was written prior to Legend of Korra, of course, so there are some inaccuracies, but a lot of it still holds up, and some stuff they actually got right.
The trope page for it is here.
Oh God! Natural light!I have a dream.
No, really, tonight I had a rather vivid dream set into the Avatar universe. Complete with characteristic animation, POV shots, cute maps... the works.
It goes something like this:
A suicide. Another rebirth. An awakening. A cook has made something delicious. The avatar asks for it, in fear. It is given happily; the cook is friendly and open, and enjoys being apreciated. The Avatar cries hotly, in delight, gobbling the pastries down with hunger. He is safe here. They are the White Lotus. They serve and protect.
Earth Kindom forces? Everyone is arrested! Is the game over? The Avatar is tired of violence. Tired of everything. But he will help. A signal, a subtle action, brief distractions and impediments, an opening. His allies do the rest of the work for him. The tables are turned, the captors are captured.
Bei phong is there. A map. The situation. The factions. A mirror. He’s an old man! Looks like Tenzin with white hair. Might be Tenzin himself. He wouldn't know. The White Lotus found a way to transfer the Avatar from the current, helpless baby to an adult. They could not afford the danger and the wait. The Avatar is happy for the baby, but confused for himself. He remembers no past life in this body—though he remembers the life before, in prison. What to do now?
Could this be made into a decent fic?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. What do you know, there is a thread for this.
I'm planning to write an AU novelization, that ties all four seasons of the series into one overarching plot.
I have three questions.
1. Is there any fanfic like this?
2. Does "Balance and Cycles" sound like a good name for this kind of fic?
3. Is there any reason why the Equalists would work with Red Lotus?
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel."Not that I know of", "sounds too generic", "their goals don't seem to be incompatible, but their methods are".
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. You could milk a lot of drama out of the different groups trying and failing to reconcile their differences, since they know they both want the same thing (true equality). Don't make the Equalists a spinoff of the Red Lotus, though. Just make them two unrelated groups that run into each other and are like "Hey, we can work together! Oh, I guess not!" I also assume you're going to fix Unalaq somewhere in there.
And like the Handle said, "Balance and Cycles" does sound a little on the generic side. Can't think of anything better, though. Sorry.
EDIT: Just realized this was an eleven day thread necro. Whoops.

Thanks for the feedback.
...Yeah, I really can't think of a title, a title that is original and at the same time appropriate.
A name I just came up with is "A Dream of Souls."
.....Yeah, I got nothing. XP
I think yeah, in some way the Equalists and Red Lotus can work together. I think they will start to fight when it comes to issues of Korra; RL wants to kill her, while Amon wants to save her for a bit. I guess they can come to a compromise; RL can kill her once everything is done.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. So, the idea is "the next Avatar will live in a quasi-modern world".
That's if everything goes well and the Spirit Vine Superweapon technology doesn't get out of hand.
But what if it does?
What if the next Avatar is born to a Wasteland, in the style of Fist Of The North Star?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."Okay, that's it, I need to reconnect to my past lives so I can talk to someone other than the chick who CAUSED THE END OF THE WORLD."
.....Yeah, I got nothing. XP
I've got a couple chapters of a Korra post-finale fic written. Anyone interested in beta-reading it, or does it just sound too ridiculous? Tagline:
I just wanted to say that Kasamari, an author who partially shaped my childhood - and my desire to write - with his series of fanfic set in a high school AU, has returned to the fifth and final installment of said AU after a massive 3 year hiatus.
It's been years since I've gone through the series, but I remember it being an exceptional series. The story has a few misspellings, but it's honestly one of the best high school A Us I've ever read even with it's shortcomings (it mixes names like Kuzon and Dwight, and the last installment gets super grimdark off the bat, for example).
Being an ever-patient and loyal fan of the series, I wanted to mention it somewhere. With over 1 thousand reviews on the first story alone and nearly 400,000 words across 5 stories, it is a real adventure - I'm going to re-read it very soon.

Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down. Why don't you post a link, yo?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.I'm on mobile, but hopefully this will suffice.
If the first chapter doesn't seem appealing, hold out for 2 or so more chapters. I'm around 85% sure the entire story is not written in the same way, with the 15% basically being a mandatory margin of error.

Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down. It's not so much combining of the two, but two working together until they inevitably break up, but Holy crap, that does sound awesome (I assume it means Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity?)!
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Yes it does.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Alright, bringing back this thread.
Anyone have ideas for a Samurai Jack crossover?
Huh, Korra fanfic. Something I actually wrote. I admitted to not being too enthused with how rushed the ending was so I went and wrote some fanfic as explorations of the characters as well as a sequel fic. I think writing them made me appreciate the show more as I was able to come to appreciate why the character relationships, even if some were (IMO) rushed or only implied, meant so much to people. Not even just Korrasami, literally all of them. (It didn't hurt that the Korrasami ones got a lot more hits than the others).
On that note, am I the only one surprised by how many 'next Avatar' stories seem to go down the route of taking technology back to LA levels or keeping it stagnant save for televisions? There's a few where why it happens works as a plot point, but in a lot of cases, it feels lazy.
Do you think I can get away with Gombozhabnote as the name for the airbending Avatar 10 000 years in the future in my fic idea?

Halper's Law: as the length of an online discussion of minority groups increases, the probability of "SJW" or variations being used = 1.A few months ago I was planning on making a page for a Korra story but then the fic got deleted. I never understood why. It was popular and well-written. I guess the writer didn't like it or maybe they deleted their account.
I used to only read Tyzula fics but they all seem the same to me now. "Ty Lee helps Azula recover, angst, drama, and/or abuse occurs."

Someone recently reuploaded the entirety of Unstable Equilibrium to AO 3.
Nice, I only got halfway through it before the author removed it off of FF. This was the aforementioned deleted equalist!Asami/Korra story, fyi.

Here is my first major fanfic for the show, set in the original series.
It's called Shatterpoint and it's an AU divergence fic where...
Actually, I won't spoil the fun for you.
It's still ongoing. Just started it at the beginning of the year.
And now it's gone. Can't seem to find it anywhere else either.
‘My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’
Well, I CTRL'F'd "TLA, Last Airbender, and Avatar" and didn't find any thread for it, so correct me if I'm wrong, but here is:
A thread for Avatar The Last Airbender, and The Legend of Korra, fan fiction. Yes, post fics related to either series. Post crossovers. Post fan art (please no tumblr). Post theories. Post reactions.

There was a fic about Azula, starting some Machiavallien scheme years after the end of the first Avatar series. I don't remember what it was called, but it sure sounded interesting.
A fic I found more recently was a TLA/LOK crossover called Scorched Earth, an AU showing what happened when the Fire Nation won the war, and beginning 20 years after Sozin's Comet.
