I've found all of the current Marvel Cartoons to be really meh, so I don't expect this one to be different. Also, I'm pretty sure that art at the top is art they just used for the article and not a representation of those show designs.

The show better open with the "Ooga Chaka" chant, or no deal.

[up][up] I'm pretty sure that's just the Guardians' group shot from their appearance in Ultimate Spider-Man.

But hey, a Guardians of the Galaxy show already? The movie's not even out yet and already Marvel's got big hopes for it!

Though to be fair, IGN did do a review of the movie, giving it 9.2 out of 10, so I guess the Guardians' future is a-ok for now.

This sounds like fun on a bun!

Rocket will be voiced by Gilbert Gottfried. Peter will be that guy who played Goku in the Dragonball movie. Gamora? Anne Heche. Drax...James Marsters. Groot will be Carrot Top.

I was actually joking. Just came up with a random list of names off the top of my head.

My first choice for Gamora was Betty White. [lol]

So far I've liked what Marvel Animation has put out. I'm sure I'll like this.

Here's the test footage of the new animated series.

Also, officially announced. I'm actually optimistic to what Wacker is saying.

Okay....on the upside they seem to be going for an own style, but I am not sure of the character designs fit into said style, plus, it looks a little bit...dizzy.

On the downside...I am not sure if the get the humour of Got G. It is not about wisecracking, it is about subverting tropes, and when Peter Quill starts to say his one-liners, he is supposed to look a little bit goody, not cool.

The way that Marvel said a month or so that there wasn't going to be a GOTG show but then announced it now reminds me of how Masahiro Sakurai in the Smash Bros. Direct made it seem that Zero Suit Samus wouldn't show up in Smash 4, but was like "Nah, I'm only kidding."

Also, that animation clip. I was expecting it to be in the same style as the other Marvel shows, but apparently that's not the case.

Is it even going to be set in the same universe as the other Marvel shows?

EDIT: Posting the video for the sake of convenience.

EDIT 2: Here's to hoping we see Agent Venom and/or Captain Marvel! grin

We're not going to be seeing Agent Venom. It's in-continuity with the films, which means that both Flash and the Venom symbiote are off-limits.

Regardless of film or animation rights, nothing that Marvel doesn't have film rights to will appear in the TV shows, because they don't want to dance that legal hurdle of having characters in one medium that are illegal to reference in another.

[up] They said it's in continuity with the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Since when?

Regardless, it means no Agent Venom?

Bummer. sad

In the NY Times article linked above.

Stephen Wacker, Marvel’s vice president for current animation, emphasized in an interview that the series would strive to replicate the movie’s offbeat sense of humor. The show’s plot, he said, would pick up where the movie left off. The purple-skinned Thanos, a Marvel supervillain, will figure prominently.

The show is Guardians 1.5.

[up]Ahhh.

Now I see.

Hey about the actual video, is it me or is Star-Lord's Badass Longcoat shorter than it was in the movie?

Stephen Wacker also said that Avengers Assemble takes place after the first Avengers movie.

I'd take what he says about continuity with a grain of salt.

Honestly I gave up trying to make sense of their Animated Universe's continuity a while ago.

That said, I guess I might be naive, but I am willing to give this show a try. It seems they are doing their own thing, since they don't use the design from USM and Avengers Assemble. Who knows, maybe they actually did something right for once? Did they say who is working on this one?

Wait a minute...this one will be actually connected to the movie? Telling the stories which they can't tell in a movie? Then I'll give it a shot for sure.

It'll probably be more along the lines of using the movie continuity as a base but going onto its own tangent, like the MTV Spider-Man show,

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.
VeryMelon Since: Jul, 2011 Relationship Status: Anime is my true love

The MTV spider-man show used the events of the first movie as backstory, then basically ignored it entirely to do it's own plots. You couldn't even pretend it was in any actual continuity with the rest of the films.

That's the road I expect this cartoon to take.
