Chances are he's had a change of heart? Yeah, I doubt it too. Still excited and hope it gets the green light as well. Also hope they don't fill it with "Teen Fandom" crap and turn it into a vehicle for "Girl meets world" stars or something.

I hope this is true. A mutual of mine saw the fully animated portion screened at a studio event back in 2016 or so and “it was pretty cute”.

Wait, did Jhonen say it'd be story driven? Kinda thought it'd be the other kind. Maybe Disney heard "multiverse" and expected a huge lore fest, but Jhonen was like "nah, it's just goofing."
Regardless, I'd like to see Ayo Davis bring it back somehow, but woof, January was ages ago and long lulls drive me mad.

Only the "next time" segment is fully animated.
Something tells me this would be subject to the same executive meddling Invader Zim did if it became a series, especially since it's on Disney which has MORE of a "keep things squeaky clean" reputation than Nick. Look at how much the creators of Gravity Falls and Amphibia had to go through to keep dark stuff in their shows.
Surprised no one spoke about this yet, Disney has recruited some new animation directors to create pilots for them- Aaron Springer, Jesse Le Doux and Jhonen Vasquez [1]
