We've seen that happen with Kaneki vs Yamori, albeit, Kaneki already took two (small) bites out of Yamori's face.
But yes, I've also theorised it's possible to gain a Kakuja by bingeing on humans. It just takes a lot of time and humans, though.
What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade........okay, there's nothing homoerotic about that.
According to Ishida, Naki is missing those chunks out of his ear because of Yamori. (He bit them out.)

So, how did Naki's ear NOT regenerate?
What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade.^ Good question.
Also, looking for some consensus. Looks like we have an edit war on the character pages over whether Hinami is a Shipper on Deck for Kaneki/Touka or has a crush on Kaneki herself. What do people think? Opinions please!

I'd say there is evidence of both, although most of the evidence for Hinami having a crush on Kaneki comes from Root A.
Scenes that imply Hinami has a crush on Kaneki (mostly from Root A, especially episode 7):
- she blushes when Takatsuki asks if he's her boyfriend, before correcting her
- she wrote Kaneki's name in her book, before scratching it out.
- she blushes when Tsukiyama starts mentioning 'true love' during their conversation about flowers after the topic shifted to Kaneki
- when she hears Kaneki is at Anteiku, there are flashback scenes to her time with Kaneki, before she decides to let Touka know
- that (muted) scene of her screaming on the balcony
- in the manga, after the book-signing where they met Takatsuki , Hinami asks Kaneki if he likes Takatsuki, to which Kaneki responds "what's with that question"
Scenes that imply Hinami ships Kaneki and Touka
- when she asks Nishiki about love, she thinks about Touka's efforts to get into Kamii (probably because Kaneki attends/attended that university)...or something to that effect
- She sacrifices her own opportunity to see Kaneki when she decides that it's better for Touka to see him
- In the manga, she mentions that Kaneki and Touka are better/happier when they're together, hence why she supports Kaneki's decision to return to Anteiku.
There might be more, but I can't recall.
But that brings me to a question I've been having since Root A was first announced: what implications do the reveals from Root A, if any, have on the manga canon?
Such as
- Hide actually dying during the Anteiku Raid (perhaps not necessarily due to a run-in with Noro),
- Shachi joining Aogiri/Kanou because Eto (or someone) told him he could see Rize if he did (although in the manga, he gave little reaction to seeing Rize in the tank or Yomo taking her away)
- the revealing of Tatara and Donato's RC types (Bikaku and Koukaku respectively)
- the above-mentioned implied crush Hinami seems to have on Kaneki.
I think the general attitude is to treat things that contradict the manga as canon, such as little bonus material like Donato's RC type and more info about Tatara. Since it did come from Ishida's drafts, there is some evidence to back things up unless later stuff in the manga Josses it. (Like Hide's fate, if he turns out to be alive.)
I also recalled that one of the chapters from Tokyo Ghoul:Days involves Hinami liking a human boy. We know the novels are canon, since events from them are referenced in the manga. (Chie and Matsumae, especially.)

What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade......y-yes, I did. Words b gud lol. (It was a long night at work, can you tell?)
"Rank 3 Ghoul Investigator/health food and fitness freak Saiko Yonebayashi"
Top kek
That is magical
"What I want, is your undying loyalty. Or the dying kind. The Green Goblin is nothing, if not flexible..."Ishida is the best. XD
Ok, finally caught up.
I do have to say part 2 has really dropped a lot of part 1's moral ambiguity.
I predict that will change, very soon.
Chapter 27 leaks!! (Imperial Scans has the raws, so we should have the chapter in the next two days!)
ETA: Raws are out!
Shirazu, Saiko, and Naoto face Nutcracker. (Saiko's Quinque is a hammer, lol.) Shirazu and Naoto fight, and Nutcracker ALMOST smashes Shirazu's junk but he manages to avoid it by inches. Elsewhere, Urie starts getting over-confident and goes after Big Madam by himself. Apparently, Matsuri ordered Urie to escort Mutsuki because he counted on Urie to disobey orders and go looking for Big Madam. Big Madam is an SS-rank Bikaku, and creepy-fast crawling along the walls in the warehouse. She quickly overwhelms Urie, and he's taken out by her two knife-throwing body guards. Mutsuki runs into the room, and sees Big Madam starting to swallow Urie whole — he's apparently still thinking how he can STILL FIGHT. Meanwhile! Takizawa strangles Sasaki, and he tries to get free using that same leg-locking move Kaneki once used to fight that dude in the 6th Ward way back when. Takizawa throws him away, and talks about how Second Place Is for Losers while thinking about Akira. He calls Sasaki the "doctor's masterpiece" and seems to be jealous of him for this, wanting to prove he's better. He throws Sasaki into the air and it looks like maybe impales him — switch to Sasaki's head space, where Kaneki tells him to call his name. Sasaki thinks he'll either die or "disappear" this time. He hears footsteps coming his way, and wonders if it's his reaper.

Kaneki about to return? Urie getting eaten?
That just gave me a massive boner.
Baidu has scans.
- Big Madam is SS-rated, appears to be either Rinkaku or Bikaku, probably the latter. Remind me again why she apparently needed Aogiri bodyguards?
IIRC Kaneki first tried that leg-lock armbar (and failed) against Yamori when he got captured by him, Nico and Ayato.

What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade.English scans are up.
A hammer named Bokusatsu (death by bludgeoning). Funny how she's totally paralysed and just holding the hammer instead of fighting. But I guess it's to be expected of someone who's been dropped straight into a tough mission with absolutely no combat experience whatsoever. ...wait, does that mean Saiko is now Dokuro-chan?
I'm guessing Mutsuki will finally be able to use his kagune the next time we return to them, to try and save Urie. Will probably fail, but Suzuya will save them both?

Ahahahahahaha, oh Urie, you had this coming. Though I'm wondering whether she's eating him or swallowing him whole to regurgitate him later a la Eto and Yoshimura, since she was impressed he lasted as long as he did.
And it seems like it's too early for Kaneki to come back, you know? Not completely at least, since he hasn't met Amon yet, who is supposed to be the key to unlocking his memories, as Donato stated. I think he's not gonna come back here.
Also I find it interesting that both Saiko and Shirazu have the RC Type advantage over Nutcracker's individual kagune. And it works in a narrative sense too, as Shirazu has discovered something about her detachable Bikaku and after noting that he can't pierce her Koukaku since he doesn't have enough firepower. I suspect Saiko's kagune might though.
On a side note, I really hope Haise was Saiko's donor.
"What I want, is your undying loyalty. Or the dying kind. The Green Goblin is nothing, if not flexible..."Problem is, Saiko is scared stiff.
At the moment. But that can change.
"What I want, is your undying loyalty. Or the dying kind. The Green Goblin is nothing, if not flexible..."Saiko couldn't have gotten her kagune from Sasaki, since their blood types aren't compatible. AB can't donate to anything but AB.
Damn, well there goes that theory.
"What I want, is your undying loyalty. Or the dying kind. The Green Goblin is nothing, if not flexible..."What do blood types have to do with kagune?
Damn, I wasn't expecting that frame of Urie getting swallowed by Big Madam. After getting over the initial shock, it does seems likely she was planning to capture him rather than eat him on the spot...if she just wanted the latter she should have bitten off his head first to kill him. Unless she simply likes to swallow her food whole.
@Sykosis: No, Kaneki first used the armbar against the scrapper in the restaurant. (Then Tsukiyama used the move (more or less) against him, and then he tried it again against Yamori.)
@Green Goblin: Though in fact if you just rearranged the ordering, Saiko and Shirazu both also have type disadvantage against Nutcracker's kagune...
Maybe centipede-Kaneki will make an appearance here but with Sasaki returning again afterwards. So the true return to Kaneki can be saved for when he meets Amon...
Not "more or less". Tsukiyama did. And he did it on purpose; he even said something along the lines of "do you remember this?" right before snapping Kaneki's arm.
Maybe, just maybe the footsteps Sasaki's hearing aren't his imagination. Maybe Amon's coming to his rescue.
Hm, you know how RC cells exist in both ghouls and humans, right? And ghouls need to ingest RC cells to gain nutrients, right? I was thinking about that one scene Shinohara is fighting Kaneki and Kaneki has just sprouted some new kagune and he's like "Just how many kagune does this guy have?"
Obviously Kaneki gained those extra kagune from cannibalism, which involves ingesting ten times the normal amount of RC cells that would get from humans. Those new RC cells helped form new kakuhou and by proxy new kagune, while strengthening the kagune he already had, and upping his own RC cell count, and they eventually made him into a kakuja.
Now becoming a kakuja is probably just a result of cannibalizing ghouls, but it is possible that eating large amounts of human flesh can still help you grow stronger and possibly gain more kagune (or at the very least strengthen the ones you have), since humans also carry RC cells.
Rize was basically eating people left and right, and she was one of the stronger ghouls around, and if I recall correctly, she didn't seem all that interested in cannibalism. Now, I might be wrong about that, but what I'm suggesting is that you don't need to cannibalize ghouls to fight on par with a kakuja, it'll take longer, but eating more humans than normal will get you there eventually.
