Tekken 7

I did notice that. I wish they'd stop.

Seriously though that's been the story since like... Tekken 5. Heck, Tekken 4 I'd say at least 60 percent of the cast was irrelevant.

That story was nuts.

So hard lesson about pre-loading: the thing is encrypted, so when it unlocks Steam has decrypt it before installing. I actually went back to sleep since it took 3 hours to do it.

When I woke up, I fired up practice mode and it was silky smooth on my PC. Tried going online but opponents were getting sparse and hard to find when I'm at 1st dan, I guess dan vs kyu fights are not allowed, and maybe most people are either still decrypting, installing, asleep or doing story mode.

Tekken has made several "Craziest endings" lists.

I don't think the individual character endings wer supposed to be well...logical.

More PC version/general game thoughts:

(Main) Story Mode on Hard is kicking my butt. Of course, they are letting me on characters I'm not good at (mostly Heihachi)... maybe if they gave me Lars all the time, I'd have a better time.

Tried Treasure Battle for a bit and ranked up offline to 4th Dan/Initiate and fought Devil Kazumi for an achievement.

First loading time is kinda slow, as is when character select is done and both players switch characters. I heard though, that people with Tekken on their SSD have lightning fast load times.

A lot of people I know are hoping or predicting there's some matchmaking patch soon, since there seems to be a long time to wait between matches once you're at the Dan level, something I personally experienced.

Also, CGI pre-rendered cutscenes! <3

Edit: Looks like I beat the minimum requirements pretty easily, but the graphics card itself is a 650 GTX. It mostly ran MKX fine so maybe I'll be alright with this one?

You're only slightly under the requirements (660). Could be OK as long as it's 2GB I guess.

I'm planning to get this for PS 4 but looks like there are issues about online. Anyone can confirm that it's true or it's just whinings?

I can confirm it takes a while to get a match on PC right now, but not only can't I say anything for PS 4, I'd wait until Day 2 to see if the issues are resolve since there'd be more players.

Also the Revenge Match system may have something to do with that. In SFV, it takes a bit longer to get a match every since they implemented the "optional best 2 out of 3" system, but once you're in a fight you at least get a longer period of playtime. In Tekken it's up to eleven since deathmatches are now possible.

I think the Final Boss of Story Mode was cool. It was unfair, yeah, but I liked figuring it out.

Felt like playing a Devil May Cry came, kind of. Pun only now realised.

... The Bonus Boss, however...

That was certainly a story they told with characters in it.

Honestly the ending left a bittersweet taste in my mouth.

I mean.

At least somebody is maybe dead maybe.

And we got some Book Ends maybe sort of kind of.

And hey, Akuma.

Thinking of playing this game but I'm apprehensive cause I have never played a Tekken game & this has 7 in the title.

I know some stuff like the main story involves a family dispute between a father & son & the formers son is also trying to kill the both of them but that's it mostly.

This an alright game for newcomers?

Want me to summarize the plot for you? I was on the same boat when I started out with T5, so I had to rely on plot summarizations to get what's going on.

The game does have summaries of every previous game, helpful or not. Plus all of their endings and intro cutscenes.

But come on, there are Youtube videos for that!

Huh fighting game stories do more ludicrous because they cannot end. Still I get this shit for the most part, just a couple questions:

How come Heihachi doesn't have the Devil Gene, is Jun really dead, is every other character just irrelevant & if all that happened in the previous games then who's starting the tournament in 7 this time & for what reason as in what's the plot of the new game?

I'm a guy who plays fighting games for the lore & characters.

Heihachi is too badass already and his genes pretty much blocked out the Devil Gene.

Actually with Tekken 7 I think it's because it came from Kazumi's family... except Jinpachi had it too so what the f'ck... unless Jinpachi was actually Heihachi's father-in-law or...

...huh. you know what, I just kind of accept the idea that Heihachi's just so badass the gene skipped over him.

RE: Devil Gene and Mishima clan: That bit about the Devil Gene coming from Jinpachi and skipping Heihachi's generation was based on the latter's non-canon T5 story mode. Harada tweeted that it didn't come from Jinpachi.

Apparently, Jinpachi didn't have the Devil Gene as a human, but after Heihachi imprisoned him, a demon possessed him. Or given that Akuma exists in the Tekken world, consumed by a version of the Satsui No Hadou. Dude could throw Fireballs and Teleport. I dunno what to make of that.

I want to note that most of these questions are brought up and answered in Tekken 7. So, I don't wanna be that guy, but if you're thinking about playing Tekken 7 and want to get to the bottom of things. Then you should probably just buy the game because it has literally all the information you'll need baked into it. It actually has all the cutscenes from Tekken- Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

Tekken 6 however, which has beefy amount of plot is kind of left out.

... Jinpachi having the devil gene was originally explained that after his death, "something" infected his corpse, and thats what revived him as monster.

Namco apparently thought this explanation was too simple, so they came up wtih the Jinpachi was possessed by something

Its kinda like them hinted that the Devil Gene and Ogre were related but dropped that.

In favor of the Devil Gene and Azazel being related instead.
