DVR is your friend, (though you still have to wait)
Btw, new episode tonight. The last one before the hiatus.
Diaz Family Vacation / Party Bus
As usual, I'm not expecting anything too deep or a cliffhanger. I just want to see more Star and Marco in action.
That's basically what it's all about this season.
"We be we baby!"The first short was good. Good thing they included Star's parents in this one. I'm actually surprised they did. This episode also killed some of my headcanons about King Butterfly, but I'm OK with it. Liked Star and Marco's interaction of course.
Party Bus was as bland and uncomfortable as I expected it to be. I only liked Britney and Ludo's short interactions, but that's it.
Not a good way to end this first series of episodes before the hiatus. Wonder if anyone expect me will come back for Star after this. Seriously: it's time for the Grown the Beard trope to come in effect.
I still really like the show though. I'm in love with its two leads and its potential, but everything else is good-ish if not meh-ish. I think Penn Zero definitely started way better than Star.
Party Bus was a pretty weak episode. Not the one I'd like to leave off on before the break. But even than I didn't not enjoy and it still got some laughs and smiles from me.
Maybe it's because I didn't go into this show with high expectations beyond "this looks like it could be fun and cute". I'm fine with the simple format it has currently. I do enjoy the cartoons of recent times that have arcs but I don't mind shows like this and Wander for being simple, fun adventure fantasy cartoons. Of course, both of these shows will probably get more story oriented later on(Wander possibly sooner if it comes back before Star).
God I can't stand that theirs going to be no Star for more than a month! Hopefully the wait won't be as bad as waiting for a new Jontron episode or the new season of Rick and Morty.
My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013Well we been wondering if we'd see her parents developed more. ... this episode DID develop one of them a bit. Her father actually finds royal duties boring so he kills monsters on his free time without telling his wife, which makes him more like Star than both realized! It's a start.
Could've done without Marco being carsick and Brittney being less of a bitch.
Wait, are you saying you wanted her to be more of one? Because that's how you worded your statement.
IMHO, her bitchiness was Actually Pretty Funny this episode since for the most part it was all in reaction rather than actively antagonistic. The best moment was of course the one shared with Ludo. I ship it.
So Star is not allowed to leave earth huh? Why do I get the feeling that her escapades to the Mall and club (and this episode) will be a plot point in an episodes that might involve St Olga's?

I really liked the first part. Marco's parents managing to obliviously avoid all the deadly monsters and traps was pretty hilarious. And I liked seeing another side to the King.
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.Diaz Family Vacation: Seeing Star's dad has more depth than just being a stuffy-butt King character pleases me immensely. Too bad all that does is make me dislike Star's mom, because now I have leverage on who really wants to see Star sent off to St. Olga's. All I could think about at the end is "Wow, what an utter BITCH Star's mom is!", TBH. Real shame I feel that way, as this is on the better episodes of this show so far, despite its problems - like the fact that Star shouldn't have risked anyone's life to show her her dangerous homeworld like that, especially Marco's easily distracted and unfortunately oblivious parents... At least that twist at the end was funny enough and they were safe and sound at the end...
Brittney's Party: This particular episode just plain pissed me off, TBH - I mean on one hand, he have Star staying in character and effectively one-upping our 1D Mean Girl / Rich Bitch for he evening for being just that. Too bad all I could pay attention to was Marco being constantly sick and in pain. He seriously had no reason nor business for being in this episode, AT ALL, if all he was doing there was being the load, being sick like that. Easily my least favorite episode so far, despite its better moments and a decent fight scene (which I've come to expect of this show by now!) being there to close things out properly!
Yeah - I think I would have liked it if a new episode of Penn Zero had premiered alongside this for some effective compare/contrasting, IMHO - Something just felt empty about seeing this show premiere by itself... And the lack of premieres for either next month frustrates me to no end!
New Web Browser, same old Shokew.Well, we still have to see how Star's mom acts outside of her "queen duties" and I also think she'll eventually learn to accept her daughter in a way or another, in a future episode. I can see the show developing an entire subplot devoted to the whole mom-daughter relationship actually (but not right now I guess).
Party Bus (or whatever its name is) was pretty lame, I agree. Also, to be honest I'm not a big fan of "gross" humor, so Marco being sick with his over-detailed facial expressions made me uncomfortable (though I liked Jackie's reaction to it at the end). Another reason I disliked this one is simply because the characters didn't seem to learn anything (including the leads). I was expecting / hoping for a very short scene between Britney and Star at the end, in which Britney reluctantly "thanks" the princess (since people seemed to enjoy Star's magical mishaps) while Star herself admits that maybe she shouldn't have joined the party without invitation (or something like that) and accepts the fact that not everyone has to like her. Instead, we got nothing, just more Marco being gross with this puke. That being said, the episode had some really good music though.
St. Olga's ("AAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!") will most definitely come back as the focus of an episode. They keep mentioning it.
Speaking of which, I have an WMG about the Headmaster of St Olga's being a villain that brainwashes the students for a army to Take Over The Multiverse
I still think St. O's is either gonna be not that bad or they think it doesn't look that bad at first, but someone says "That isn't Saint Olga's, this is" and it turns out to be even worse.
I'm more leaning towards the latter because if it turns out to be not so bad, then where are characters like Star and Pony Head hearing about how awful the place is?
My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013I assume ignorance and the fact that for some reason, that school wants to build up a reputation of being essentially princess boot camp.
perhaps it is meant to be way to mold rebellious princesses into Badass Princesses whose names will borderline make the Names to Run Away from Really Fast list.
I also now have the theory that if Star winds up going there (either by her own will or otherwise,) Marco will join her (mostly for Rule of Funny)

And if not join, try and break in. It really seems like if Star ends up going Marco and probably someone like Tom would have to team up to rescue her. Of course, it could turn out she didn't need to be rescued either because it's not bad or she manages to break out herself(With possible help from Pony Head and/or other princesses).
My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013I can see an episode where Marco gets accidentally sent to St Olga's and Star has come in against her fears to save him.
With a '0', not an 'O'I've been trying to figure out if Ludo's name derives from Latin for "game" or "play", or this.
Okay, saw the episodes (actually I saw them on Thursday, but I was traveling). The vacation episode was pretty hilarious and it was cool to see Star's dad get a bit of development. Party bus was... okay. I kinda liked how it shows pretty clearly that nobody actually likes Brittany, and it was really pretty satisfying to see her party get shot to hell. I feel like it might be setting up a rivalry between her and Star or something. Ludo's part of the episode was pretty amusing, though. I have to agree that the motion sickness gags were really meh, although I chuckled at "WHO PUTS A SPINNING STOOL ON A BUS?" bit.

What sucks about scheduling on Disney's is that it only makes you trudge through the crappy sit com to get Star and Penn Zero.
"We be we baby!"
