I know it's early to call it, but I think this is going to be the best series of this season.
I'm up to chapter 26 of the manga. It doesn't get any less amazing, the quality doesn't drop at all, but it does become kind of predictable up to a point once you're used to the comedy style.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Hiro is crazy. How can anyone consider anything more adorable than Mikorin?
Yeah, with this circle of acquaintances, I guess I can see why Nozaki doesn't have trouble coming up with characters for his manga.
Interesting how the gender-flipped stereotypes work, honestly.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntThree!
- Kashima-kun, my prince~<3
- No, Kashima! Don't look at those other girls! Only look at me!
- Don't remember her name? "Princess" works.
- Huh, I thought Hori had blonde hair.
- Cats and briefs.
- Why is his height such an issue? Just cast him as the tsundere heroine. p.s. Lots of famous actors are apparently really, really short.
- They really like their briefs...
- Nooo sexual harassment, you're just abusive!!!
- What's with all the male pronouns referring to Kashima? I know they're probably gender-neutral, but...
- "Nozaki-kun is repaying senpai with his body." Right after Chiyo called "We hang out at an apartment doing this and that" too suggestive.
- Don't listen to them, Kashima-kun! Hori is just a tsundere anyway!
- Acting scene is glorious. Poor Mikorin.
- p.s. I like how the skirts in this anime are not ridiculously short.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.
While it is true that male actors in Japan are shorter than the national average, so do the females. Having to act with a female protag that is several inches taller is usually difficult.
It's easier on film. (Tom Cruise manages, for instance) but on stage... Yeah, it's kind of tricky.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntI always found it kind of weird that the male characters in this series are generally in on the secret (and all surprisingly good artists), while the female characters are generally not. I don't think it really means anything, it just creates a strange dynamic where Sakura is always "conspiring" against her friends.
On an unrelated note, I wonder what secret formula this show uses to portray rather gruesome, albeit slapstick, male-on-female violence without triggering any sort of... reaction in the audience. I suppose this serves as a counterexample of the classic "how would you feel if the genders were reversed" argument. Apparently, not much different.
I don't know about anyone else, but I might feel the urge to punch Kashima myself if I had to deal with her. Other than that, it might help that she's both bigger than Hori and pretty masculine.

Since you've made the same mistake twice now: his name is Hori. Just for future reference.
I guess the size issue might be the key, but while they do point out how short Hori is, he certainly doesn't feel weak. He's got a sort of handyman-carpenter feel to him with all the prop work, and he's not exactly skinny. Then again, irrational biases are irrational.

Right. Why did I call him Hiro? That doesn't even really sound like his name.
And yeah, Hori does seem about to be around the same strength level as her, which is above Mikorin. I think height makes someone look bigger than being broad, though.
Just finished watching episode 3. This is one of the instances where I think the manga is funnier just purely because of the format. That original stinger at the end is pretty nice, though. I feel the manga didn't emphasize enough on Hori's fondness of Kashima during their introductions, so that's a nice touch.
And it looks like they're going to do things in a difeerent order than the manga after all. Not that order really matters in this kind of show, though. Just kinda shocked since judging by the preview, the next episode going to adapt chapter 8 and 23. That's quite a large gap.
Anyway, next episode: TOMODA!
Chapter 23? You've gotta be joking. They can't adapt a Seo/Wakamatsu chapter without adopting Chapter 11 first.
Whoops I meant Chapter 22. The group date chapter.
If manga artists really do base their characters on people they know, I want to know what Hirohiko Araki's friends are like.
Fabulous? (if I right on who that is)
Just some 0.02 that I've been wondering.
- I somehow started to have reservation about "all boys are bishounen except Nozaki and Miyamae" statement. As somebody have mentioned above, Hori looks relatively muscular. On the other hand, Wakamatsu is just 2" shorter than Nozaki and does not look that slender either... (Strangely, out of the 4 males listed on the anime website, only Mikoshiba is of "average" height—170s)
- Nozaki gender-flipped Mikorin, Seo, Wakamatsu, and possibly Hori and Kashima, and judging from viewer reactions, that is completely justified. However, I can't imagine how would a fem!Nozaki or man!Sakura be...
- Who in their sane mind would call a school "Romance Academy" (Roman Gakuin)?
On one thing, I'll just say that the heroine's physical design existed before Nozaki made her personality Mokarin's.
Spoilers: The heroine's design is based off of Sakura.

I know that. I mean personalities here.
I don't see why is Horis height problem either... he should just use boxes.
Right!
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot. &
Scully Boxes are easily hidden from the screen, but not on the stage.
That was joke you will understand when you will grow older.
x7 How convenient. Next episode is going to show a female Nozaki. Kind of.
All we got was a mention that she was from the Art Club and that one poster being her handiwork.
Episode 2 continues to be fantastic. The comedic timing is spot on, Mikorin is a truly moe heroine, and Seo's voice is almost as good as she is annoying. I also love that BGM, and whenever Sakura uses her exasperated tone.
