For about twenty seconds, the entire forums disappeared and asked me for my login information to look at a thread or check my mail.

I was wondering what caused this and if it will happen again.

I'm not the only one who's experienced it.

what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone else

Eddie does things. Sometimes things get broken temporarily. We don't have any greater insight into it than you do unless he tells us. Don't sweat it.

I didn't notice these things that the OP is talking about, but ever since I opened the site sometime after waking up a couple of hours ago, I keep having to page-refresh every time I click the "go back" or "go forward" buttons of the browser just to get the system to recognize my log-in cookie. Is it just me?

Browser and OS (assuming you're still having the problem)?

Google Chrome (Dev Build), Windows 7. I switched to the Dev Build since a month or two ago to get around the problem of the mandatory auto-disabling of third-party extensions (which included "TV Tropes Spoiler Control"), and I never had this problem before.

Update: I switched to the stable build as a test, and the error is still persisting.
