I haven't been able to find a suitable trope for this, since it's not quite Rivals Team Up and it's more specific than Too Many Cooks Spoil the Soup. Basically, it's a situation where two or more highly competent characters who are used to leading and not used to following have to work together and end up interfering with each other, because neither accepts the other's leadership and they are unable to come to a consensus. Dueling Messiahs might be a subtrope in some cases.

Can anyone point me to the right one, or perhaps a page needs to be created?

Greetings,

Divided We Fall is the trope you are looking for, methinks.

Also, Lost And Found is the general place to look for tropes.

Ah, sorry about using the wrong forum. It's been a while.

Divided We Fall is a possibility, but I think that it doesn't stress the interference aspect enough. In the scenario I am thinking about (Applied Cultural Anthropology), both characters would have done fine (but not great) individualy, but working together caused a disaster, and it seems like something that shows up in quite a few works of fiction.

You'll have to use Too Many Cooks Spoil the Soup then, methinks. It's broad enough to take your case.
