It does seem a little too generic. Is this official art for the show?
Yup, that's the same one they use on the official site of the show.
Uploaded, downsized and converted to JPG to get around the filesize limits:
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman
Wow, that was quick, thanks to you three.
I uploaded a new version scaled to 300px rather than 350px. The 350px image had previously been put into a 300px quoteright, which broke the page layout.
You could also have changed the quoteright, ya know...
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanDoesn't need to be that large, though. No small details that need to be visible. I think the smaller is better, especially since it's so vertical.

Check out my fanfiction! It's still way bigger than it needs to be. That image would "read" even if it were half that size, and it being so much longer than the article looks amateurish to me. (Not going to "fix it", just trying to influence future page images :)
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. At the moment it's actually kind of perfect for me, since it's just as tall as the rest of the page, which makes it look neat. Which would change approximately by the next episode, but still.
Check out my fanfiction! Can't count on other people using the same resolution or browser window size.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Hence "for me".
Check out my fanfiction!Well, for me it hangs about 4/5 down into the examples. I personally prefer bigger images because I find them easier to read and more informative.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI would have cropped off the words also.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Me, I like the words fine.
I don't mind the words at all; that's the main thing that makes it actually be art for that specific show.
I don't like the words either. They're distracting and unnecessary. It's best to keep things concise. I generally dislike such large, vertical photos as the page image, too, but to each their own.
we twitter nowThat image is massively tall. I view this site at a 1920 x 1080 resolution and it's shoving the text around far too much. Any resolution smaller than that, it will take up at least half of the page.
This one◊ needs to be resized, but it won't crush the page layout when it is. Furthermore, it shows the actual animation style and doesn't have awkward black bars in it.

Clock is set.
Well, it would look something like this. Not sure which one I prefer. The details kind of become small.

That seems a little artifacted but I do like it best of all the suggestions.
Me too.
(On the quality: maybe it was bigger but in Indexed color mode, so the resize was restricted to colors that are already in the palette, so the resample wasn't as good as it could be? If so, change it to RGB color mode before shrinking.)

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. It was in RGB mode as far as I can see.
Tried a few other things, but no noticeable difference.

Check out my fanfiction!Oh, duh, the original is right there. Sorry. Not sure what happened, then. Here is a higher quality version.
edit: Monkeyed with the color a little, to improve contrast.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. That seems a little blurrier, which takes some of the sharp edges of, but at the same time it's, well, less sharp.

It's well intended I'm sure, but as production-art-as-page-images go, Sailor Moon Crystal's current shot of the eponymous Magical Girl Warrior in plainclothes is a bit like illustrating a Superman reboot with a Clark Kent model sheet. I'm wretched at image editing, (and copyright nuance) however, so what would be better?
