And if the story does go that route, Calirus will probably think he's doing Vattu and the Futers a favor.
I didn't write any of that.Oh, hey. Setting off some warning signals, dude...
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireOops. Forgot to link. That's the source of the warning signals. It's not a blaring klaxon quite yet...
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireHow long has it been since Vattu had any contact with her Fluter tribe? It's just barely possible that Calirus does have a better idea than Vattu about what the Fluters as a whole want—if he's been dealing with many of the tribes, and he's still maintaining that contact.
Otherwise, Calirus comes across as a dangerous White Man's Burden type, at best.
I didn't write any of that. It's been odd keeping track of time. Otto said she ran the previous winter. It doesn't seem like winter has come again. So Vattu has been on the streets for less than a year. There's little way of telling how long she was a servant, though. It seems like one winter but could be more.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireAnd Vattu's entire time in the city has been short enough that the broody artist guy could dawdle on that portrait without his patrons breathing down his neck too hard.
I didn't write any of that.[inner "help the villain" monologue]
Calirus, Calirus, Calirus...
Don't blow it, all you need to do is tell Vattu she can preserve Flutter life and culture better inside the system than from outside. Stop them getting enslaved like the mute, advocateless Warmen. No need to flip out and stuff, just count to ten and remember she's still more or less idealisticall naive and easily manipulated.

Well, too late for that.
the other shoe definitely drops. D:
"Suddenly, as he was listening, the ceiling fell in on his head."Great negotiation, dude. Really pushed for it, yeah.
Well, this is just lovely and largely unnecessary. Seriously. That's a lot of soldiers.
He should have at least explained what he thinks the fluters want (and why) instead of just being like "Nope, you're wrong, I guess we'll never be friends."
The massive number of soldiers makes sense, though. Three or four soldiers could probably take her down easily, but she'd put up a fight, might kill someone or get hurt herself, and has a chance of escaping. A couple dozen, though? It's too uneven. She probably won't even bother fighting, which is safer for everyone.
Will Vattu escape this jam? See next time in Let Loose the Dogs of War OR a Night in the Pound.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireSoldiers really should have circled around her first.
I didn't write any of that. She's just a fluter. Not like they're any trouble. Oh, wait...
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireFunny that Calirus took her seriously enough to bring that many soldiers to capture her. But the soldiers themselves didn't take her seriously enough and made a basic mistake, so now it looks like she'll get away.
Maybe it's not completely their fault. Maybe they're so used to fighting people their own size that they assumed she was already trapped in the courtyard. Didn't consider that she could slip through the window until it was too late.
I didn't write any of that. After reading the other works on the site, I'm curious to see if T-O-E will show up at some point...

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireI kept thinking that it was dumb for Vattu and Narro to stay and fight rather than escaping through the window. Of all the times for me to be right. Dammit.
I didn't write any of that.I am caught up now.
I think that this might be my favourite comic currently updating.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception. And a scene change. I think.
"Suddenly, as he was listening, the ceiling fell in on his head."Book 2 is ending soon, methinks.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireThat is the end of Book 2, actually.

"I've come to the conclusion that this is a very stupid idea."Ah. Should've dropped the soon. Then again, what's sooner than now?
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireDouble-post to indicate updates.
The new book starts here.
We're up to twelve pages as of this posting.
Looks like we're getting some insight into the higher ups of the empire this time around.
Wait a while.
The guy could be the worst kind of villain. The one that understands that motivating people through kindness by understanding their hopes and dreams creates the fiercest kind of loyalty. What he's offering her is a chance to be trained, and potentially indoctrinated in Sahtan way. Sure, Vattu will get to go home, but after her "training", will she want to rejoin her tribe, or force it to comply with Sahtan values she's now convinced are superior?
Basically, using Vattu as a proxy leader and link to better control all Fluters. A viable agent to turn them into a formidable fighting force.
