  • Inner Mythological Being:
Selene, The Greek personification of the moon
  • Human Name:
Bianca Constantine
  • Human Gender:
Female
  • Human Age:
Just turned 17
  • Appearance:
Average height and weight, with messy, white-blonde hair and round grey-green eyes
  • Powers and/or Abilities:
She has the ability to shape and use moonlight, however she needs to have it in order to use it. She has a special gift with archery and riding horses.
  • Personality of Inner Myth:
Coy, sultry, and Hard to get. Tends to play with people’s hearts
  • Personality of Human Being
Bubbly, Naive, Sweet, and Optimistic to the point of being annoying...
  • Background of Inner Mythological Being:
  • Selene* is the greek personification of the moon. She is the daughter of the Titans Hyperion and Theia, and sister to Helios and Eos. She drives her moon chariot across the heavens. . In classical times, Selene was often identified with Artemis, much as her brother, Helios, was identified with Apollo. Both Selene and Artemis were also associated with Hecate, and all three were regarded as lunar goddesses, although only Selene was regarded as the personification of the moon itself. Her Roman equivalent is Luna.
Background of Human Being: Bianca’s from a wealthy New york family of stereotypical lawyers, and due to the fact they’re always working, she rarely see them. She was always a bit shy as a child, and was read to a lot as a child to compensate for the lack of friends even then, hence her imagination. She loves to bake, and is very naive, believing anything a person might say. When she started hearing a faint voice in her head, she dismissed it as a part of her imagination, but as the voice got louder, she had to accept it was a part of her now... Miscellaneous: She loves to bake, but somehow is horrible at cooking... Has a stuffed bunny named Miel

[up]Accepted, but there's a couple of things you'll want to fix up. 1.You'll need to take out the bit about learning magic. Technically, your character's powers are magic, but I'm also not going to have your characters learn miscellaneous abilities at the top of a hat. (This applies to all characters in the RP.) If you want to say she's learning how to use some new ability, that's fine, but you'll have to state just what that ability is. And 2.You really need to clean up the character sheet. As it is, it's somewhat hard to read. Other than that, all of the essential stuff is still there, so again, you're accepted.smile

  • Inner Mythological Being: Loki
  • Human Name: George Bering
  • Human Gender: Male
  • Human Age: 19
  • Appearance: short, wiry and red headed with a goatee and a beak off a nose. Usually wearing any combination of the following: leather hat, pants, jacket or vest. Usually smoking a cigarette
  • Powers and/or abilities:
    • Illusions: visual only at this point, maximum size of elephant/medium truck
    • Can start and control small fires, also extinguish them but why would he want to?
    • Bad Luck: Can cause small mishaps like someone tripping or a rope coming loose that you thought was tied tight.
    • Human skills: George is an adept mechanic and has his ear to the local underworld.
  • Personality of Inner Mythological Being: In a word, Bitter. In another word, Anarchistic. Terminal chip on his shoulder especially towards Sky Father deities of any pantheon and Marvel Comics.
  • Personality of Human: At first his new powers made him giddy and arrogant. Now they make him nervous. He tries to act as a broke on Loki but feels out of his depth
  • Background of Mythological Being: The god of mischief and chaos Loki had his place on the fringes of Asgardian society and had an on/off friendship with Thor until he screwed up big time and what was meant to be a prank to show up a certain idiotic macho game the gods were playing wound up killing Baldur. Then they bound him in his sons intestines and dripped snake venom on his face. He's understandably miffed at the world.
  • Background of Human: George came from a broken home and grew up mostly on the streets doing small time crimes and, when Loki came into his life working at a chop shop.

  • Inner Mythological Being: Cernunnos, The Horned One.
  • Human Name: Langston Finn
  • Human Gender: Male
  • Human Age: 28
  • Appearance: Langston is about 6'2, stocky, and dark skinned. Not that many could tell from a distance, on the account of his pervasice beard taking up a good portion of his face. As a full-time park ranger and game warden, Langston is usually in his trademark uniform, with a composite bow and quiver of his own making slung around his back. More often than not, he has somewhat of a frown on his face, but that's not always indicative of his actual mood; it's just his 'default' expression. It's not hard to have him smiling for some reason or another.
  • Powers/Abilities: Having become a vessel for the essence of Cernunnos, Langston's powers are centered around hunting and the mastery of the forest around him. He's strong as a grizzly bear, and quick as a stag, graceful as a serpent, and with senses keener than a hounds. He can also call out for animals to aid him in his pursuits, and control the rapid growth of plants. He can see in the dark, and oddly enough, he's beginning to see what he believes to be spirits. Finally, he's certainly not getting any worse with a bow.
  • Personality of Inner Myth: Contemplative and occasionally reclusive, but otherwise hyper-masculine and 'rugged' in a way that only a god could manage without people starting to laugh. He is a fertility deity, after all, so not much else could be expected. When not trying to posture himself into a dominant role over a person or an animal, he's always good for friendly advice and guidance, given that you don't get to comfortable with offending his pride at any point. Worst case scenario, expect lots of rage. He has an almost inexplicable respect for the dead, so keep that in mind too before you go poking a body with a stick.
  • Personality of Human Being: To this day, Langston doesn't quite know why Cernunnos chose him as a vessel; they're mostly opposites, save for their love of nature and frequent willingness to lend a hand. The god is an extrovert beyond measure, and the man would rather be left alone to his own thoughts. The god is domineering and authoritative, while the man would rather be an equal to any person. The god is a notorious lecher and showoff, the man's conservative as they come. And then there's the small issue of Langston having been raised a devout Presbyterian, so it's not as if he'd be spreading the word of a horned god on the street corner....
  • Background of Mythological Being: On account of the secrecy of the druidic caste, the oral nature of Celtic legends-keeping, and the fact that the worship of Cernnunos could very well trace back to paleolithic times, very little is known about Cernunnos but the domains over which he's come to command.
  • Background of Human Being: Not all that much to speak of, really. He was born into a lower-middle class household to a black father and an Irish mother, and he went to you're average inner city schools. Fortunately, he wasn't the kind to let his education get in the way of his learning, and he took a deep interest in keeping his grades up. It was the only way his parents would keep paying for him to be in the boy scouts, anyway. Though he didn't always get the chance to be in the wilderness due to his troops' location, nature became his most intense interest at a young age. He found learning about the interaction in-between all the living things to be stimulating, and he found purpose in wanting to do his part in protecting and preserving the forest. His and his families' hard work left him with just enough money for a college education, where he immediately set himself on becoming a park ranger. It was there that he started hearing a deep voice resonating from the back of his mind, and Langston knew that wasn't what he sounded like in his own head. The voice only became clearer as he continued his education; he took his spare time to find out exactly what was talking to him, and boy was he not happy when he found out. It didn't help that Cernunnos's 'advice' was the sort of thing that'd frequently get him kicked out of campus or arrested if he followed it. One forestry degree, full-time job, and five prescriptions later, Langston still lives with the forest god's voice in his head. He knows a small grace in that they generally have the same goals.
  • Miscellaneous: Prefers not to drink, smoke or swear (in anger, anyways). Naturally, he's a skilled survivalist, adept at bushcraft and gathering food. He's an avid hunter, all things considered, but urges people not to waste their kill and be mindful of gaming commission regulations. Knows 28 kinds of knot, only 9 of which he considers useful. Fan of Neil Gaiman.

To be continued....

[up]Exactly. RPG Legend, just give Isis a few spells that have specific uses. As the RP goes on and your character becomes more skilled and powerful, you can add more. Just make sure that none of these spells are overpowered, at least in relatively to the general power levels of the RP at the time.

  • Inner Mythological Being: Hades
  • Human Name: Jade Midnight
  • Human Gender: Female
  • Human Age: 18
  • Appearance: Tall and slender, Jade is also dark-haired with ivory skin and a deep fondness for leather, piercings and tattoos. Even if she in't wearing leather, she'll be, at the very least, wearing black clothes. Jade also has deep brown eyes that are gradually turning darker. This is, so far the only outward sign of having a God inside her.
  • Powers and/or Abilities:
    • Necromancy: Jade can raise and command the dead. So far, she can only raise simple-minded zombies who have to directly follow her orders. However, if the dead are already raised, then she can also control them, although this depends on many factors, the chief one being how much influence said dead person had on the world. Furthermore, creatures that are associated with death, like flies or vultures, and screech owls (Hades sacred animal) are very ambivalent to her and will gladly speak to her or follow her orders so long as they are not too crazy.
    • Clairvoyance: Jade can talk to spirits, and, depending on how strong the spirit is, command them. To do this, she needs to be in physical contact with a loved one or object. Jade can also relive said person's last moments.
    • Underground: Insofar, Jade is only able to make small holes in the ground, that don't stretch that deep, about the width of a gravestone, and depth of a ditch. This power also manifests as being able to bring metals, oil or precious objects up from the ground, so long as they are there. The further away these minerals are, the fewer minerals that appear. Finally, Jade has perfect night vision, being able to see in dark even better than in light, and a natural sense of what is under her at any given moment.
    • Coldness: Due to the fact that dead people tend to be cold, Jade is almost always at a low body temperature, and she can withstand extremely cold temperatures with barely a shiver. She can also exude coldness, turning the air around her about 10 degrees lower.
  • Personality of Inner Myth: Hades, contrary to what Disney would lead you to believe, isn't one of the bad guys. Sure, he has the Fields of Punishment, but that's karma for you. Of course, he's slightly bitter towards the Olympians, but who wouldn't be if they were told to rule over a hole in the ground and stay there? Nonetheless, he doesn't exactly exude friendliness. Grim, dark and mysterious, Hades is nonetheless Lawful Neutral, following the ancient laws laid down by the fates to the letter. As such, he dislikes people with no or little regard for authority or law.
  • Personality of Human Being: Unfortunately for Hades, he got stuck with one such person. Rebellious and reckless, Jade, while not actively breaking the law, doesn't much care for it either, and breaking the law doesn't cross her mind when she makes her decisions. The thing she hates the most is people making stupid rules, which she will actively seek to break. Naturally, she's also very independent and wouldn't even dream of letting Hades in, even for a fraction of a moment.
  • Background of Inner Mythological Being:
    • Hades was born to the head titans, Cronus and Rhea, and, like most of his siblings, swallowed soon after. When he was regurgitated due to Zeus' efforts, he became a loyal ally of Zeus, and one of his most powerful supporters, aiding the fall of the Titans greatly and keeping Zeus' back, saving him a couple of times.
    • The war won, Hades, Zeus and Poseidon, decided to split the shares equally via rolling some die. Each God would have their own die, and the people with the highest number would get first pick. Hades was the only God to not cheat and weight his dice, and as such, he was relegated to the Underworld. Beneath the Earth, it was easy for Hades to be excluded from Olympus and lied about by Zeus, and to essentially be exiled, Zeus easily sowing fear into Hades , Zeus fearing Hades' power and revenge.
    • Occasionally, Hades would leave his realm and come above ground and onto the Earth. On one of these ventures, Hades spotted Persephone. Instantly taken with her, he went to Zed's and, seeing as he was her father, asked for her hand in marriage. Zed's agreed, but neglected to let Demeter or Persephone know. Thus, when Hades came up and snatched her from the Earth he was surprised to find that she viewed it as a kidnapping. Angry at Zeus once more, Hades kept her, knowing what Demeter would do. For most of this period the relationship was entirely one-sided until Persephone gradually began warming up to him. The process was nearly complete when Zeus and Demeter arrived on the scene. After much bargaining and threats, Hades and Demeter came to the 6 month agreement and Hades was then known as a kidnapper along with being the Lord if the Dead.
  • Background of Human Being:
    • The second daughter of two mega rich parents who owned a whole range of companies to do with oil and mining, Jade was brought up in the high life, all her needs satisfied with a simple flash of a credit card. Every child's dream, right? Not so for Jade. Used to freedom due to her parents lengthy absences, when the time came for them to rein her in a little to get ready for adulthood, she resisted heavily. Soon it turned into a daily routine, which gave birth to her goth style, various piercings, and truanting, resulting in her not doing college, safe in the knowledge that she was set for life. That was when her parents finally snapped, and kicked her out of the house. Unbeknownst to her parents however, Jade took of with a couple of her parents savings and debit cards that weren't missed before walking out the front door, allowing her to get by very easily. That was, until Hades started manifesting to her as a telepathic spirit visible only to Jade.
  • Miscellaneous: She owns a motorbike that is, you guessed it, deep black. Also has a part-time job as a hairdresser.

[up]Accepted.smile Although, there is one thing that I'm a bit confused about, mainly with one paragraph of Hades' backstory:

Meeting him once in a forest, and wooed, Persephone willingly went into the underworld to see Hades. Originally a simple fling, the two grew to love one another and were soon happily married. At least until Zeus and Demeter arrived on the scene and forcefully wrestled Persephone from the Underworld, beginning the rumor that he had kidnapped her, and that was the cherry on the cake for villifying Hades.

Now, in all the versions I've read or heard of that particular myth, I've never heard about Persephone willingly going into the underworld. As far as I understand it, she was kidnapped against her will. Now, if there is a version of the myth that had her go willingly, that's fine. I just want to make sure we're not doing any Draco in Leather Pants here, or anything of the sort. I know that Hades is not a bad guy like many interpretations today make him out to be, but that doesn't mean we should whitewash his less stellar moments either. Also, here's an abridged version of the beginning of the myth, courtsey of Godchecker:

She (Peresphone,) is the illicit daughter of ZEUS and DEMETER and grew into such a beauty, men would look at her open-mouthed and exclaim ‘Cor!’ or in Greek ‘Kore!’ — which is what she came to be called. Although she always insisted her proper name was PERSEPHONE.

With ZEUS and his brother POSEIDON always getting the pick of ravishing beauties, the third brother HADES felt very left out, what with being stuck in the Underworld. So ZEUS promised him a beautiful woman named Kore when she was old enough. What he neglected to do was let DEMETER or PERSEPHONE know.

PERSEPHONE was engaged in the innocent pursuit of picking flowers when a black-horsed chariot came surging up from a chasm and she was snatched. To all intents and purposes she had vanished without trace.

I will point out that back in the Groman days while "rape" could certainly mean what it does today it could mean simply stealing (since women were considered just another piece of property) and it could, for the same reason mean what today we call eloping as could the term "abduction".

Or, since I'm channeling Loki, maybe I just like the idea of someone sticking a finger in the eye of Odin's Greek equivalent

Why hello there! It's been a while since I've looked at one of these. Guess I'll give it a shot! wink

Inner Mythological Being: Lotan

Human Name: Erinn Walcott

Human Gender: Female (Mythological Gender: Male)

Human Age: 28

Appearance: Go ahead. See if I give a sh*t.

Powers and/or Abilities: Erinn starts off with two abilities, one defensive and the other offensive. Her skin can morph into incredibly durable scales which protect her from most projectiles; elemental and supernatural attacks are poorly defended. Her other power is to spit fire balls at various strengths and distances—rarely at an appropriate amount. I mean, have you ever tried to spit perfectly? Maybe it's just me, but the cowboys with the spit jars make it look easy. It's not. -______-

Personality of Inner Myth: Lotan is revered for his incredible power and invulnerability, but he rarely demonstrates either because of his "lone wolf" behavior. People tend not to sail where "there be dragons," so his intelligent audience has been quite...lacking in the past few millennia. This may be one of the reasons why he wants to join this revival race; to gain the worshipers he never had before. Getting out of his ocean-wide bubble however, will take some serious effort.

Despite Lotan's strength, he is still technically a mortal. This infuriates him to no end, and makes him very jealous of other deities (especially the water and sky/rain-based ones). Above all others, Lotan hates the war goddess Anath and the sky god Baal Hadad; the former imprisoned him, the latter tore him to pieces.

A primarily selfish being, Lotan is not above betraying a comrade if it means getting a good jab at his enemies or stepping closer to his goal. That being said, he doesn't actively seek out chaos and mayhem. If people leave him alone, he won't bother them. Probably.

Personality of Human: Erinn has lots of patience with people, but she always appears annoyed or indifferent towards others; perhaps her job as a meter maid fed this apathy more than anything else. Snarky and sarcastic, Erinn (or Officer Walcott, as she'll try to be addressed as) demands respect while rarely giving any back. Although she is quite clever, her education has never been more than mediocre, so she's no scholar.

But even a porcupine like Erinn has a soft spot. Her five month old son, Jamie, keeps her from being labeled a complete b*tch. It'll be a cold day in Hell before Erinn does something that puts herself before her son. She'd take a bullet for the little guy; now thanks to Lotan, she just might have to.

Background of Inner Myth: The "Seven Headed Fleeing Serpent" Lotan has existed since the dawn of time, swimming in the most treacherous seas as if they were kiddie pools. He had few interactions with men or gods, and even fewer ended well. Ultimately, Lotan's less-than-friendly reputation caught up with him and he was defeated by Anath and her husband/brother Baal Hadad. Lotan is trying to join this Deity Renaissance race in order to become a god and escape his imprisonment.

Background of Human: Erinn Walcott was tossed in an orphanage nameless and senseless, hardly able to eat let alone cry. She learned quickly that few can stand the tragic orphan cliché—any cries for help were met with either polite pity or complete ambivalence, so little miss Walcott grew up learning to fend for herself. She kept away from the drug traps so many of her friends fell into, and eventually joined the police force. Although she is currently just a meter maid, Erinn hopes to become a legitimate officer in a few years.

Jamie is the product of a one night stand with some scum Erinn met at a bar. She neither knows nor cares who the jackass was; it's not like he's cut out to be a father anyway. Erinn does what she can for her infant son, but her dogma of "fend for yourself" is getting much harder when you have a kid to care for. Like Leviathan, Erinn is at the cusp of her bubble and is preparing to step out.

[up]Not quite. As Trickerson said, I'm trying to shy away from the Judeo Christian Mythos here. However, I found something else that might work; Lotan, who is rather similar to Leviathan. So similar that some suspect Leviathan was derived straight from Lotan. If you look him up on Wikipedia, it even says that the two are basically one and the same, much like how many Roman Gods were derived from Greek ones. So if you want to use Lotan, that's fine.
