The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen 1988 - Interest Check

The idea is simple: to make an RP with the players building a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen with characters from the 1980s. To those who don't know what the League is, imagine that this is a Justice League, except with characters like Rambo and Doc Brown and the Ghostbusters dealing with problems based on 80's movies like a robotic cop gone rogue or a car with artificial intelligence who's getting too smart for his own sake.

Basically, I wanted to see if there was any interest for this idea. It'd take place where fictional characters, events and locations are real (to some extent) but this world's history follows our world's history, except you get fictional beings helping non-fictional events come to fruition.

The missions would deal with keeping the peace and performing missions for the sake of humanity, but there'd also be a lot of personal moments between the League's members- building ways to friendships, romances... and maybe even betrayals?- and there'd also be missions dealing with the League's past (like the failed 60's League) and future (maybe the 1988 League mentors a 1998 League?).

But for now, comments, suggestions, and more.

... Toontown is a place, and I don't think you could sign up with a place...

Not what I meant. I mean could toontown the place be in the Leaugues universe. WFRR was made in the 80s but is set in the 40s, so i just want to confirm that it could be in there, hypothetically speaking.

And on that note, if a series was created in the 80's, but set in the future, would that work as well? (Would time travel have to be involved?)

Since this RP is going to be about adapting various franchises to exist in the same verse, you can take various paths. You can make it so it has existed for a long time (Toontown, which has existed since the 20's, with the first cartoons being created), has just been created (Robocop could fit in this, as in the world of the RP, advanced robotics isn't that much of a farfetched ideal) or will be created (the Terminator robots could fit in the second category, but you could also make them fit here. Have them come from a possible future or an alternate timeline, for example.)

Okay then. Well, I'll think about it, but I may just end up sticking with Highlander after all. (Just waiting now for a Character Creation Sheet.)

Which character are you planning on going with? I'm likely to pick a Highlander character too and I'd prefer not to pick the same one as you.
