Well, the picture is taken right off of Knowyourmeme, so I'm guessing fanmade. But seriously, I doubt they'd announce inklings as actual playable characters until after the game is already out. I know that Nintendo is really hyping the game, but I feel like they'd want to give the franchise some time to sink in before introducing the characters to Smash. Though it would be awesome. There would be a lot of different ways to play the moveset. I wonder how they'd incorporate the form changing into their moveset.

Up-B would obviously be a Super Jump

Side-B would be either the Roller, or maybe a "turn into a squid and dodge" move

Down-B could also be a "sink into the ink" move of some sort

Neutral-B would just be like a regular projectile or something.

In general a mechanic where they can spray ink on the stage to hide would be cool, but it would also be really hard to implement.

Inkling was my Smash Ballot vote.

So how likely do you guys think Splatoon will stick around as a Nintendo franchise and not be a one-off?

I really hope it isn't a one-off.

I really want this to stick around but only as a once-per-console thing.

When I saw this I immediately said "Incoming enemy from the rear. Drop altitude."

But, halfway through "altitude" I realized what I was saying and immediately stopped.

Oh yeah, definitely as a one-per-console type of series.

@Zelenal: Let's be honest, bro, most NES Remixes sound like Megaman-y tunes. Maybe because the scope and feel of Megaman music's just so broad, I dunno.

Late to the party but man, the excitement and hype for this game's something else. Rip me four new assholes if I'm wrong, but hasn't it been forever since a new Nintendo IP was pushed as hard/was as anticipated as Splatoon?

True. They want to make this a new Nintendo standard like Mario Kart.

Yeah, I'd definitely hope for most games in the series, but I don't want them to flood the market either. I think it mostly depends on how well the game sells. Given the amount of hype it should do pretty well, especially considering the number of pre-orders.

I just hope that Hype Backlash doesn't kick in. Granted, the gameplay on the testfires was great, and pretty much all the buzz from people who've played the preview stuff has been positive, but with the hype train running so heavily, it could still be a problem.

Hunters was on a handheld, where games are ALWAYS cheaper.

$60 is pretty much the default price of any console game.

@JT: Eh, there's not much you can do about that.

And besides, din't Team Fortress 2 launch with about the same number of maps? We KNOW we're getting more anyway.

I think technically TF 2 launched with 6, but one was tc_hydro.

So yeah, it did launch with 5 maps that got play time.
