No. Shao Kahn was the canonical winner during Armageddon.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle. From what I understand is Taven's story mode is accurate up to the part where he defeats Daegon.
Taven is noted as one of the survivors of the battle
Best guess
Taven engaged Blaze
Shao waited till they had worn each other down, Shao sent Taven flying -but didn't kill him- and killed Blaze.
Raiden tries to kill Kahn before the godhood kicks in..
It ends badly
Shinnok: Just as planned
The usage of Scorpion to kill Hsu Hao just seems to drill further about Boon's hatred to him. Having his favorite kill off the guy he hated? Well!
Drahmin should watch his back now, just in case Scorpion goes after him next.
Cortex should take a 12-step plan off a 10-step pierEither Drahmin, or Darius.
So... whose next on the MK's teams hit list
You just know they have a list of characters that need to die in the comic...
I placing 20 on Kobra

Just finished reading the comic, awesome way to start the story. Some bits I found interesting
-The issue starts with a "many years ago" caption.
-Namedrops of Mavado and Daegon (so is a safe bet to think every character in the franchise exists in the reboot universe in a way or another)
-It seems comics Sub Zero is Kuai Liang given his affiliated to Raiden and the scar he receives at Kano's hand
-The return of the Kamidogou
-Scorpion being an anti hero again and best friends with Kenshi (so it seems in the universe Kenshi helped Scorpion instead of Ermac) I hope the Shirai Ryu surivives this time.
J-love between kenshi and Scorp.
...
Do I hear a ship about to sail?
I just can't get use to scorps with a face
Too be honest, having Taven and Daegon not exist is pretty stupid. I mean, the quest doesn't have to interfere with what happened in MK 9. I mean, as far as we should be concerned, Taven should still be in stasis by Orin, while Daegon is busy commanding the Red Dragon from the shadows.
I never really liked that myself. Reminds too much of Ghost Rider.
He's undead, sure, but every other resurrected shade/spirit in this series takes a human form. Even more contradictory, he has skin around his eyes, but the moment the mask comes off, suddenly he's a flaming skull. MK 9 even shows him with ligaments and tendons and muscule structure. He can vomit. But then he's reduced to a flaming skeleton and I'm like, "wha?"
It gives off an air of invincibility - Death Battle even went as far to say that, because he was in the Netherrealm, Scorpion being reduced to a flaming skeleton meant he was still alive and able to launch a last-minute attack.
Is he a skeleton, or a reanimated corpse?

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).His face looks pretty cool though.
That looks amazing, hope that nice Scorp (and the new Shirai Ryu) stick around for the game.
Both and neither. He's a wraith. Scorpion and Saibot have more in common, biologically, with Moloch and Drahmin than any of the human cast.
And it's no more invincible than any of the fighters who are literally gods.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Still hoping he's The Great Kung Lao. Would he count as a new character?
If he was he'd be like Gouken. Famous, often seen in othe rmaterials but never playable.
Aw geez. They're making the arenas more like Tekken, with crowds watching you, barricades keeping them out of the fight. Ugh.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).What? No, that's just one stage. Hell, Outworld Market has an intractable involving throwing another bystander at the opponent.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...street fights are awesome dude.
Well the second issue is out and...
So much for the Shirai Ryu
Where did Scorpion get those guys? I thought the Shirai Ryu were slaughtered in his backstory?
Some time after the end of MK 9 Kenshi helped Scorpion to break free from both Quan Chi and his own demonic side, turning him back into Hanzo Hasashi. Hanzo then spend the next few years looking for survivors of the Netherworld war (those who lost everything) and started training them as the new Shirai Ryu.
By the point the comic starts the new Shirai Ryu has grown into a powerful Earthrealm faction.
Didn't Taven successfully kick everybody's ass by the end of Armageddon?
