I believe it was showing the variations of Raiden... since everybody has three styles.

[up] and [up][up][up] That's actually really interesting. Those kind of characters are usually so niche or novelty in fighting games.

A game where everybody does it sounds massively varied.

The PS 2 Mortal Kombats gave nearly everyone 3 stances as well. Although in MK 10's case, these stances are picked before the fight rather than changed during it.

Not really strange for this series, actually. Deadly Alliance, Deception, and Armageddon had multiple fighting styles for each character that could be switched during battle by hitting a shoulder button. This seems like something similar, except that it's done before the match starts.

[up][up] Beat me to it.

Hmm...

Seems strange that more fighting games aren't doing that. I guess you could claim that the MvC Assist System or Super Street Fighter IV's double Ultra Combos are kind of similar in that they get selected before a match, but that's not really the same thing.

Stance System is one of my favorite tropes. It could be pretty great to see it getting standardized in some form.

They're not really stances in the normal fighting game sense. Every character has a base set of moves, and the variations add more moves on top of that base.

Kotal Kahn: You have no chance, Thunder God.

Raiden: Thunder blots out the sun!

Kotal Kahn: Temporarily.

I really like these intros.

I always thought Raiden was… somewhat tame in presentation compared to other MK characters, especially considering he's a GOD (in mortal form, but still).

But he actually looks pretty awesome in that trailer. Definitely a candidate for being my main at this point.

I'm still leaning towards Sub-Zero and D'Vorah.

Is it me, or does Kotal sound like Phil Lamar?

He voiced characters in Injustice, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Did Raiden steal Jin's Penetrating Fist from Street Fighter X Tekken?

Also fuck yes he's still voiced by Richard Epcar

Richard Epcar is wonderful as Raiden. I also haven't seen an X-ray move I don't like.

I think I might be wrong, but I believe Raiden's fatality is one of the first in the series to involve the opponent's eyes popping out. Which is gruesomely awesome.

I think there was one from mkda or deception, but I'm not sure.
