Since the beginning of human civilization, they have desired one thing: Power. Power over others, power to shape their life, power to control the world around them. This led to the creation of magic, and almost resulted in their own destruction. To prevent this, a group of mages began moderating magic. Eventually this group and their purpose grew, striving to remove & hide all fantastical things from "unworthy" hands. However, for all their efforts there are those that manage to avoid them and use the fantastic for their own malevolent end.

___________________________

Prototype Life is, in short, about the behind-the-scene details or shadow of an alternate Earth's society. So on the surface, its more or less the same as our reality. The organization that controls the fantastic is called SERVE, which refers to their goal of protecting humanity from things they can't control.

The RP primarily follows SERVE's perspective, so the majority of events that takes place involve them in some way. In addition, the player characters would be required to be involved. This can range from being someone who accidentally got involved, an employee of SERVE, or one of the various (artificial) beings under their control.

Prototype Life will initially start with no clear big bad, mainly dealing with random antagonistic forces such as a Mage who creates humonculi or a cult that worships some magical super thing. This is partially because I'm not certain what to do there, and partially because I don't want a Big Bad distracting me so early.

Eventually as the story and events develop, new factions/groups/etc will open up. These will primarily be in conflict with SERVE. Though players will be able to control & create random characters as they see fit, and anything potentially major (such as antagonistic forces) would have to be approved by me first.

___________________________

Factions:

SERVE: Originally created in early human history to moderate magic, they grew over time into an international organization that controls all things fantastic than simply magic. Using everything at their disposal to create new technologies, arts, and even lifeforms SERVE protects humanity from the fantastical.

C.H.E.S.T: CHEST (Controlling Hidden Entities Serving Tomorrow) is SERVE's division dedicated to creating and capturing biological entities. Various sub-divisons (such as the Tento Project) deal with more specific creations, while CHEST mainly provides the basis for various projects whilst creating new entities. In addition, they frequently collaborate with HUNTER and SHAMAN.

H.U.N.T.E.R: HUNTER (Hoarding Uncontrolled New Technologies Entering Retail) primarily deals with all technological matters for SERVE, and as a result is their primary intelligence division. In addition they deal plenty with outer space and aquatic matters.

The Kennel: The sub-division of CHEST that primarily deals with animals and bestial lifeforms, they frequently abduct wild and roaming animals for experimentation. The Kennel also performs the more dangerous and unstable genetic formulas of CHEST, transforming animals into humans first before testing them for more accurate results.

S.H.A.M.A.N: SHAMAN (Sealing Harmful Ancient Magical Abberrations North) is the division of SERVE that works mainly with magic, be it creations or creators, and is located in the Antarctic. While HUNTER and CHEST may capture less magical Golems & Humonculi, almost everything captured by SHAMAN is too dangerous or too difficult to contain anywhere else.

The Tento Project: Started during 1990, the Tento Project began with the intention of ultimately making mass production versions of their artificial entities. While it eventually changed to being about brand new entities, the mass production part stayed. Referred to as Tentos, they are divided into Class (Machine, Bio, Beast, Esper, Eldritich) and Type (Proto, Partial, Failed, Incomplete, Complete, Hybrid, Production). Furthermore, while it began as a project of CHEST it is controlled and influenced by all three major divisions.

___________________________

Now some brief world information. Magic, while its exact origin isn't certain, is primarily powered by existing elements (so fire spells need heat and bio spells need organic matter). Using souls is one way to bypass this rule, and emotions is another much less potent way. Alchemy is a specialization of magic, where runes are crafted that'll perform the magical effect quicker and easier. This is mainly because magical energy reads the entire body as one nonsensical rune, requiring the Mage to expend extra energy to shape the spell.

Golems are more or less the magical equivalent of robots, whose power source is referred to as a Core (which varies from alchemical runes on their bodies to external objects, even living beings). Damaging or destroying it can potentially kill them. Humonculi is the catch-all term for magically created life, be it an otherwise normal being or an immortal godlike entity. Specific types of Humonculi are Darima (parasitic pseudo-Humonculi that feed on magic to become a real boy- I mean Humonculus) and Angels (Initially "eggs" that are implanted into one's soul to shape themselves off your moral code and desires).

Finally, Gifts are randomly manifesting inborn magical abilities which ranges from smelling the color purple to (extremely rare) godlike powers (they're primarily stuff in the middle, like precognition or a Tales arte). Last are the Nomi, Naturally Occurring Magical Items which are the result of inanimate objects soaking up magical and emotional energy.

Application Format:

  • Name:
  • Faction: (For now it would either be SERVE or Unaffiliated, if you work for a specific SERVE division list it in History)
  • Description: (Physical appearance, feel free to include some of their backstory and/or personality in the process)
  • Abilities/Skills/Powers: (Basically everything you can do)
  • History: (Where, well, your history goes as well as personality)

By the way, I'll be editing a pre-existing Manual I have that'll contain various important information as well as function as a Character database. Until then none of it you really need to know.

  • Name: Richter Aberlindt
  • Faction: SERVE
  • Description: A short haired young man with odd maroon eyes, his hair seems to be an almost salmon-colored shade, he wears a black longcoat, a black long sleeved shirt made of a fine material, with two red lines going up the middle of the chest. He wears grey leather pants, evidently travel worn boots, and a belt with several knives kept on it. He appears to be tall and rather wiry, with a Pretty Boy type of facial appearance.
    • Personality: Richter excels in one particular area - being as vague and nondescript as possible. He makes it clear he has plenty of ulterior motives for his odd behaviour, but he never says them straight. All that is clear is that he describes battle and killing in a cultured manner, dispensing his threats almost like they're topics for light discussion over a cup of tea. It is clear, though, that he is looking for someone to be able to match him, and he has very rigid standards for his rivals. Even so, it is also made clear he has "higher ideals" that "simply are not the topic for discussion today." Though he is willing to do whatever work SERVE hands him, its pretty obvious he's got some other plans going on. Most obviously in regards to the Tento Project and whatever it is he saw there.
  • Abilities/Skills/Powers:
    • Art of Kruschoi: By slashing with his sword, he gathers magical energy into an array centered around the air pressure wave produced by his sword, drawing in other magical energy in the area into the area that is hit, resulting in a large explosion. Most deadly for the fact that it also counters other spells heading his way and adds them to its own power.
    • Sword Conversion: His primary way of fighting is to take up any old knife and use this power to turn it into a Laser Blade. Indeed, this ability hints that he is a very talented swordsman, and not just a plain hired man.
    • Alchemy: Richter mostly uses certain runes that have adverse effects on people who step into them. His strongest alchemy in this vein is called Leyline, and can affect a huge number of people.
    • Amplified Abilities: it is apparent he's stronger, more durable and faster than a normal human should be. Whether this is from training or from use of some magical artifact is unclear.
    • Chain of Hyades: Connected to a small arm mounted shield is a chain with a knife at the end. He can use Sword Conversion with this to turn it into a very...dogged...whip-sword like attack.
  • History: A member of the Tento Project, Richter initially signed up as a hired mercenary brought on for security some number of years ago, though he made his employment permanent when he discovered something that interested him in the Tento Project. He has also come into the position of "Inspector", meaning that he tends to show his face whenever someone acts out against SERVE or otherwise draws the ire of higher ups. He mostly keeps his earlier life under wraps, but apparently he grew up in a rather poor area.

Here is the (very incomplete) redesigned manual that Prototype Life uses. This is actually the second thing set in the Vitality Underground multiverse, though more than one story has yet to share the exact same universe. Besides that, the currently listed information might change when I next update it.

Now then, I would like to know how exactly Art of Kruschoi, Sword Conversion and Chain of Hyades work. I primarily ask because magic is very specific, and that converting a source (such as heat) to power an unrelated spell is very complicated for the average magic user. In addition, I want to know more about his uses for Alchemy and how he came across it. Though, speaking of mercenaries, the majority of those that use the fantastic do tend to sell their services. In fact, very few people who are part of the shadow world actually go around showing off. This is mainly because they know that SERVE exists and what their purpose is.

Besides that, I would probably say the Eldritich-Class Tentos (made using customized Eldritichian biology taken from "The Prime") would intrigue him most given the extremely versatile nature they have. For an Alchemist, the very magic-like nature of Eldritichian biology makes it the perfect ingredient due to the extreme ease, versatility and low magical energy cost it provides. That, and combining the mutagenic powers of Eldritichians & Humonculi into a formula would have nightmarish potential that any Alchemist worth their salt would be imagining all the ways it can be used.

Other than that, character looks good. I'll write up a list of characters later on in the manual, but into then none of them are people he actually needs to know. Oh, the head of the Tento Project is a man named Andre Fitzpatrick by the way. He sees them more as tools than people, though he's only callous regarding Production-Types. In addition, the Prototype Beast Tento is a completely insane feral monster (psychologically) of a man. It'll attack anyone that gets too close, so he's kept far from the other Tentos. The main reason they keep him around however is because the Tento Project is interested in completely understanding how all forms of Tentos' work biologically.

Basically, Richter found even from an early age he could convert using magic pretty well. Hence, he poured time and energy into the art, given he was told it was a rare thing and no average mage could pull it off. So he trained, day and night, until he mastered "Aberlindt Style Conversion", though even he needed, ultimately, a little magical trinket to help him along. He was something of a prodigy when he was very young, and some of his current behaviour is a direct result of people who treated him as "a former genius".

I am thinking he found a Prototype Eldritch Type Tento, and he now works in secret to try to "elevate" said Tento by producing scenarios which would enable it to grow stronger and more powerful. While he claims he does this for purely scientific reasons, it is pretty clear he's got other things going on.

Its less no average mage could do it, and more they simply don't want to put in the time and effort required to master conversion. Though, the majority of people who do use souls and emotional energy would be Converters (Boosters are mages or items that convert it for someone else's spell to enhance it).

In addition, a magical trinket would have to be intentionally created as Nomi are too unpredictable in their abilities. Though its also possible to find a Nomi that works perfectly for one's purposes. Besides that, there are two Prototype Eldritich Tentos: One an extremely powerful psychic they had to force into a coma as her powers gradually forced her into insanity. The second one that they use as the genetic basis has lovecraftian superpowers, but is ultimately weaker in raw power than her sister.

Though its probable he might know about Justin Parker, a potentially powerful shape-shifter created using the Prime's DNA (Thus making him and the Eldritch Tentos the same thing, Artificial Fae). That could convince him the second Prototype simply hasn't discovered her other abilities or true one.

Hmm... Is there something specific you have in mind? Humonculi is basically a "do whatever" card, though extremely potent ones (as in basically gods) are rare since they require a lot of magical energy to form. HUNTER also has robots, androids, gynoids and cyborgs if you're interested in that. I did want a Golem whose core could attach to anything to warp into a body for itself.

Richter decided to put all the required time and effort into it, mostly as a project to prove himself as a genius.

Richter's Nomi, the Light Ring, is acknowledged as unpredictable. It is also insinuated to have played a part in how...rather crazed...he is now.

When I said unpredictable I was referring to their abilites. Though they are indeed living creatures (in that they have real souls), 8ts just most of them lack the ability to convey that fact. They, while initially defined mentally by the emotions and assorted actions that made them (thus a serial killer's knife is derived by bloodlust and a child's toy is friendly), are ultimately complex as any human . They may initially refuse to understand or accept things, but aren't actually locked as such.

Though an Nomi able to commuicate in complex ways, such as telepathy or illusions, can end up being a corrupting influnce on people. So while I want detail on the Light Ring, you don't have to change anything.

Name: Crispin Weissman

Faction: Unaffiliated

Description: Crispin is 25 years old, below-average height and slightly built. His eyes are nondescript mud brown and his matching hair tends to shagginess. He dresses in a plain white T-shirt under a black denim vest with many inside pockets, black jeans, and dark brown hiking boots.

Abilities/Skills/Powers: As mentioned below, Crispin has extensive training in biological and water magic; as a bounty hunter, he utilizes both to incapacitate his targets. With bio-magic, he induces a state of near-unconsciousness; should that fail, he binds them in water. Crispin also carries a semi-auto, 9-millimeter handgun with a 13-shot magazine. He carries several magazines of hollow-point, armor-piercing, and tranquilizer ammunition. Finally, he wears a trench knife with a 5.5" (14 cm) long blade in a sheath on his right ankle. He is competent, but not outstanding, with both gun and knife.

History: Crispin is a bounty hunter who tracks down rogue mages and (if applicable, I'm not sure how much free will you're giving them) artificial beings. He grew up in the heart of New York City, and as a child was injured by a dog that had escaped from one of SERVE's holding facilities. In the aftermath, he spoke to several SERVE representatives, and was impressed and entranced by what they did and worked with. Crispin developed through this an interest in the occult and began studying it. For a long time he idolized SERVE, but became disillusioned with it during his teens due to several high-profile incidents (assuming you're cool with me deciding that; it's your canon, not mine). He dropped out of high school and apprenticed with an independent mage, who specialized in biological magic and water magic. Crispin proved adept, though not excessively so, with both of these, and at the age of 20 was licensed as an independent practicioner of magic (again, assuming you're okay with that). Since then he has been catching (mostly small-time) magical criminals and honing his skills. Crispin is much more forgiving toward SERVE than he was as a teenager, recognizing that his anti-SERVE proclivities arose as much from teenage rebellion as anything else. He now regards SERVE as, at best, a well-meaning entity that should place more emphasis on safety, and at worst a necessary evil.

Personality: Crispin is laid-back, an idealist and an optimist. He attempts without fail to aid others to the best of his ability; several times he has refused a bounty because he felt the reasoning behind it was unjust. When someone around him is in need, he offers them what they need if he can; if someone is in pain, he does his best to ease their pain. However, he has no qualms about repaying an eye for an eye, provided the first eye was taken with malicious intent and not by accident. He responds to rudeness with rudeness and to violence with violence. Lastly, Crispin has a lazy streak, but the resulting panics have built up in him an ability to perform well and quickly under pressure.

Comments: Of course, Kkutwar, you have veto power over any background information. I don't entirely know what kind of world you want to build; if anything I've got here goes against your world building I'll cut it no questions asked.

I was tempted to go the Spider-Man route and have him get powers from the dog, but then I thumped me on the back of the head so I would realize how dumb that was. So no, he was interrogated and checked up by several SERVE employees afterwards, which sparked his interest in magic. I figured that was more interesting.

Really looking forward to this!

Essentially, the Light Ring was previously held by a cult leader, who used it in various ceremonies where he by all appearances turned various substances into others as "proof of his divinity". Eventually, the Ring became known as the Light Ring, and it contained a consciousness of its own.

When the cult broke down due to infighting, the Light Ring was discarded in the fighting, and eventually found its way to Richter, where it identified with his pursuit of Conversion. However, due to its sordid history, it has also had a negative effect on him in various ways.

Regarding artificial beings, it all depends on their creators. Though Magical and Robotic beings are much easier to manipulate the quantity of free will they have than Biological ones. Though free will itself is composed of two things: The Mind (which gives you the ability to act and think) and The Soul (which enables you emotions and often, but not always, the ability to function). Its really the combination of both that makes a Soul, but since removing the "Soul" robs you of emotions and often function at all many assume that alone is the Soul.

It actually doesn't need to be something fantastic, as SERVE does normally ignore dealing with "mundane" matters (be that a serial killer or an entire war). They do that since its unnecessary risk of exposing the shadow world, and many of the things they ignore wouldn't bring about the end of the world anyways. Though they are good people, and whether it be they have a personal stake or not, they frequently deal with mundane matters anyways.

Regarding fantastical events, though, SERVE has been unwillingly responsible for several events such as the serial killer Midnight Stitcher (an nigh-invulnerable humanoid abomination that can kill from any distance that you would probably need anti-matter or something much bigger than it to kill). Then there was a rather recent event in Indiana, where one of their super-soldiers had a freakout and caused a massive explosion (she's a potent emotionally-powered pyrokinetic). There's also the Fair Folk and an organization antagonistic to SERVE that often cause serious problems.

Though do feel free to suggest any events if you want. Besides that, licensing would take place entirely in the shadow world. Its actually something SERVE would want, since it allows them to keep better track of mages and anyone who breaks the rules is likely someone committing fantastic crimes. I'll write up a list of rules later, but typically stuff that can only end badly (such as high-tier temporal manipulation) are illegal. Extremely potent mages will, depending on what they do, either end up trapped in SHAMAN or "recruited" into SERVE since they're too powerful to let run around.

Well, Humonculi (mainly ones made through raw magic and of high quality) and Eldritichians do have mutagenic proprieties. Granted those are major defining traits of theirs. Though animals escaped though the Kennel are more likely to turn you into troubled and/or tortured monsters (at best) than Spider-Men, and even then its more likely you'll get super-rabies, permanent disability/etc or nothing at all. The majority of such mutagenic creatures, however, would likely be something extremely unfortunate to survive what should of been a fatal formula.

Oh, could you list in more detail his capability and usages of his magics? Some info on his mentor would be nice, and if there's something particular in mind you want your story to start off doing.

I'd like to know a little bit more about how bio-magic works so I can explain it better. Is it strictly manipulation of biological processes and such or does it include stuff like growing plants, inducing mutation, etc? Water is fairly self-explanatory, when I make the edit I'll expand on that as well as his master.

As for events, I'll have a think and make some suggestions. I'm thinking my character isn't yet powerful enough to get conscripted into SERVE, but he might become so as the story progresses - that could make for interesting conflict.

I think that covers the main things I needed to respond to. Any other suggestions?

Specifically, people refer to bio-magic as the process of manipulating and creating organic life from snails to gigantic whales. However its more of a general classification, with plants being included under it as well. For each general classification of magic (Bio, Temperature, Etc) there are various sub-classifications, such as Fire and Ice for Temperature. Transmutation is a somewhat common magic of the Bio-Classification, though it occasionally overlaps with other fields (particularly for those who practice Conversion).

When mages reach power levels of "Blow up buildings with your mind" is when SERVE becomes concerned. The speed and rapidity of which they perform spells is also a major factor. Besides that, I would like to more about some of his previous jobs and the kind of people/things he has met since joining the shadow world. I would also like to know how he handles juggling public and shadow world matters of his.

Oh, and in the shadow world there's this "tournament" every so often. The participants are Gifted who were given or found a special Card, which is actually a Humonculus. These Humonculi only activate by physical contact from a Gifted, which makes them perfect for finding Gifts which are otherwise hard to locate. The tournament exists partially as a way to unify the shadow world, and partially just SERVE furthering their research into magic & Gifts.

Righto, here's the updated Powers and History sections.

Abilities/Skills/Powers: With bio-magic, he specializes in manipulating and controlling biological functions such as brainwaves, digestion, breathing, &c; when hunting, he induces a state of near-unconsciousness in his target. Should that fail, he is most adept at concentrating water vapor from the air and using it to assault, bind, and hinder his opponents (this would be called waterbending in an alternate universe).

History: The mage Crispin had apprenticed with was a former employee of SERVE, fulfilling much the same capacity (basically magical police/SWAT) within the system as Crispin does outside it. After retirement, he moved to a very rural area and established himself as a veterinarian, using his bio-magic skills to encourage health in the animals and covertly using his water magic to ensure the crops never went without during drought. He was a kindly old man who went out of his way to help others as much as possible, a trait Crispin picked up. He lived for two more years after his last apprentice became a full-fledged mage. Crispin was at his side when he died. His master was a huge influence on him, and it is partly to honor his memory that Crispin holds himself to high standards of altruism and justice.

Kind of figured he would be loyal to himself only, but knowing the exact specifics would be good. If you guys ever have something you want to PM, just PM it when you're ready. He's also accepted, yes.

HUNTER indeed makes mechanical marvels as well, but I would like to know more about the robot-ish thing first. There's really nothing wrong short of it being able to destroy the world on its own (though artificial black hole-esque things and antimatter in low-levels/specific functions is fine, bonus if it has a good chance of going wrong for the user). Though I would say HUNTER gravitates more to humanoid machines than monstrous ones, since a mechanical monster would be a lot more difficult for SERVE than going the magical route. Though they also tend to do random stuff simply for the sake of getting it to work or sheer awesome.

Hmm... I'll probably have to explore universal stuff later on. Besides that, Mind Magic would be another specialization of bio-magic. Its also a pretty important factor for expert Golem and Humonculi makers. Though how quickly does his bio-magic work? Instantly inducing a state of near-unconsciousness in anyone is quite a useful skill. I'm not necessarily disproving of it however, though I would like to know how frequently it'll get used. I'll also need to know its potency, and any lasting effects it (and his other applications) might have.

The robot-ish thing won't really be made for destroying anything, really.

I was planning on it being more like two linked bots; about two feet high, each, connected to one another with a special metal bar. One bot would hold the actual artificial intelligence to control the two, along with all the special circuitry, while the other is more for data-storage of any sort. Sorta like a special reconnaissance device.

Unless that's a dumb idea.

Regarding the unconsciousness, it's not instant; it takes almost a minute to cast the spell and any interruption loses it. He primarily uses it as an opening tactic to avoid fights altogether. If he actually gets IN any fights, as he almost certainly will, it's not useful. In that case, he would use a series of short, quick bio-spells to increase his own reflexes, agility, and strength - not much, as they're weak spells, but enough to make a difference.

In addition, targets stronger than the caster might detect the magical energies being shaped nearby and realize they were about to be attacked, so if you need someone to not get KO-ed by it there's a precedent for that.

As for potency, it lasts anywhere from fifteen minutes to an hour, enough time for him to bind, gag, and frisk his targets. By the time they wake up they're incapacitated in other ways and on their way back to the bounty issuer. Regarding lasting effects, I don't think there would be any unless - and this could make for a good minor story element - the spell interacted with other spells that were in effect on the target.

Pretty much anything goes, and after all "stupid" ideas are simply ideas people dismiss for sounding silly or other reasons. Though I would like to know why your character made it so.

Well, since you would be manipulating biology and your targets would likely be very different from each other the exact same effect can't happen for all of them (such as a healing spell acting unpredictably because cancer wasn't taken into account for example). In addition constantly manipulating someone's biology should have lasting effects of some kind.

Name: He La E23

Faction: SERVE

Description:

-Age: 2 Years (Enhanced Development; Physically Mature)

-Race: Production-Type Bio-Tento

-Gender: Female

Tento 'He La E23' outwardly appears to be a human woman in her early twenties with pale, scar-less skin. She stands at nearly 6 feet tall, long limbed and of a distinctly muscular, acrobatic build. Her face is often a little hard set but somewhat pretty with her short-ish wavy black hair pulled back in a bun. The irises of her eyes are a jumbled mosaic of colours, one of the few external indicators of her bizarre biology. She is a little flat chested, typically wearing combat boots and pants with a plain white T-shirt.

As her designation suggests E23, and her line, was derived from an iteration of the infamous 'He La' tissue culture - that is, Henrietta Lacks' tumor. Its remarkable ability for regeneration and inherent acceptance for mutation made it the ideal basis for a new type of super soldier. As a result, her internal organs are a semi-undifferentiated biological mass; if one part is damaged another may resume its functions until it can heal. Her blood supply is under more efficient control than a human, rarely bleeding out and can recover faster and better from injuries than most lifeforms though it still requires time.

He La E23 has been augmented to possess superior strength and speed to an average human.

History: He La E23 was developed as the latest in a line of Bio-Tentos developed from a specially acquired culture of 'He La Tissue'. This culture is essentially a human tumor, an immortal cell line that has out lived its original host. For its remarkable durable, prolific albeit somewhat parasitic nature SERVE researchers were quick to see its potential in engineering their new 'Tento' project. Admittedly the cells barely qualified as human by this stage due to generations of unregulated mutations but were also very receptive to new genetic information. Already enhanced human genes and other modifiers were applied but the new genome was inherently unstable.

The first Tentos produced from this model were prone to displaying abnormal or uncontrollable growth as well as eventual psychosis. But after numerous generations of experimentation, augmentation and failures they successfully created He La E23. Since her creation she was trained as an assassin, soldier and hunter for SERVE, tested both in the lab and on the field though the latter more tentatively. This being largely because of her great curiosity, a nuisance for an organization dedicated to secrecy, and a slightly cheeky demeanor. Nevertheless E23 has been conditioned to obey the orders of her superiors and is generally more sardonic than rebellious unless particularly bored.

Overall E23 is still fairly ignorant of the world beyond what she needs to know for her missions, despite her best efforts. While there are currently no other living 'relatives' from her own Tento line yet created, E23 is quite fond of the other Bio-tentos and most other types with the exception of the beast-types. Their animalistic or downright feral nature gives her an uneasy feeling and has heard stories about their prototype ancestor. Many of the Incomplete Tentos are resentful of E23 as she is regarded as one of the 'successful' ones and the scientists or some older Tentos treat her with some wariness - mostly due to the violent results of the previous, unstable He La line Tentos. This has left her feeling slightly alienated among the others of her kind and prefers talking with some of the 'natural' lifeforms in SERVE, at least the friendlier ones.

Secretly He La E23 worries that she too will revert to an unstable state, and may be entirely justified in this fear.

Abilities & Inventory: High damage resistance and enhanced physical adaptability with moderately enhanced healing. Superior strength, speed and agility. No magical ability, exposure to mutagens is potentially dangerous - both to her and others.

Uses only what is issued to her but generally prefers bladed weapons to firearms. Quick, adaptable learner and already well trained in a bladed weapons and most gun-types.

Here goes nothing, let me know what I gotta fix

  • Name: John Bernard Maclintock.
  • Faction: SERVE
  • Description: John Bernard, usually called JB, is a man in his mid-twenties but looks to be at least thirty. An artificial eye has replaced his left, a bright orb of silver in the middle of a scar, allowing him better vision. He's slightly shorter than six foot, with the build of a brick house. JB usually is seen in fatigues while on the job, suits off the job. His hair is a grey shocked medium fade.
  • Abilities/Skills/Powers: JB served in the military for four years, before leaving it behind to work for SERVE after coming into contact with an out of control golem on a mission. Thus, he is combat trained and experienced. While in the military, JB worked as an engineer, primarily tasked with demolition and construction of traps and other things like bunkers. JB is experienced with machine guns, shotguns, and DM rifles, having used all three in his career. In addition to this, JB is an aspiring user of Alchemy, knowing a good amount of runes already. In addition to these, JB is also a pretty good cook, and baker. For alchemy, JB uses minor manipulation of elements such as fire and earth, creating fireballs and earth spires, and the manipulation of elements into simple things such as axes and spears.
  • History: JB is an easy going man off the job, a hard man on. He has his own code that he follows, and will do what he believes right. This led him to chafe with some higher ups at SHAMAN, not believing some of the missions they authorized to be fully in the interest of SERVE. He only recently took up the art of alchemy, having discovered an old book within SHAMAN's base detailing the art. Having been authorized to learn the art, he took to it eagerly.

Well, how exactly did he learn about SERVE? Unlike HM, they don't exactly advertise their existence. I suppose the easiest way would of been him getting an assignment that unknowingly had the fantastic involved. The encounter with SERVE agents wouldn't leave him many choices after all. Besides that, I take it he's a guard of sorts? Though I'm curious why he works at SHAMAN and thinks they stray from SERVE's goals.

I'll work it in, what I meant was, some of the missions he's seen be signed off on he doesn't agree with. He didn't think some of them should have had SHAMAN's involvement.

  • side comment: it's good to be back.

In a couple days I intend to start the RP, so if there's any changes you need to make do so before then. In addition, the Discussion thread is now up. I'll also be making some updates to the Manual, mainly Information first and then a list of Characters.
