I was half expecting Inaho to go "Your gun is stovepiped. You need to clear the shell casing from the ejection port. Let me get that for you."

I suppose it's to be expected. Only a main character can breach another main character's plot armor.

Honestly, the way this series has gone, I half expect it to be revealed that Saucy shot Inaho. I've kinda leaned not to trust the end of episode cliff hangers.

Looks like a lot of Inaho/Asseylum pics are showing up. Also, Inaho/Yuki, though not much.

For those who missed it, a preview to the second season got released, albeit its audio-only. It's intriguing, though can't tell if this will turn out like Valvrave's 2nd season preview (where NOTHING from there appeared in-series).

  • Marito: Leader launching!
  • Inko: It would be nice to come home alive.
  • Rayet: There's not time to dilly dally.
  • Yuki: I became a soldier to protect you(Inaho), and to protect the world Inaho resides in.
  • Darzana: To all units, we are proceeding as planned and we are commencing the Earth landing sequence.

[up] Considering the way this series has gone i.e.half the time event s IN THE SHOW get retconned in the next episode...I trust previews as far as I can throw them. Asseylum may set some sort of record for not-being-dead. (2 so far, and people are expecting it to be 3).

The only "career" Slaine has available for him in S2 is "bandit," as Mars sees him as a Terran spy (thanks to the frail, maybe senile Emperor believing Saazbaum), and the only Martian base that treated him kindly, castle Saazbaum, has fallen. He sure as hell can't turn him self in to the Terrans because there are many UE officers (In UE Kats and on foot) who both saw him board the Tharsis AND head to where Inaho and Saazbaum were fighting, in fact, saw him siding with Saazbaum. Furthermore, a simple ballistic test (if the show remains consistent) will show that Inaho and Saazbaum DID NOT SHOOT AT EACH OTHER (or, at least, there was a third party shooting if Slaine tried to make it look like they did).

As for Princess Asseylum, either she's dead, and Slaine is keeping her corpse so he's "always by her side" or she survived, and he's keeping her captive "for her own safety."

I don't see Slaine succeeding at keeping Inaho's fate a secret from the Princess if she did survive because that boy is a slave to his emotions.

Episode 12 proved what Cruhteo said about him in episode 4 correct in the most perfect "strawman has a point" way possible.

Slaine: "Please let me go to the battlefield to avenge the princess!"

Cruhteo: "You are not worthy to go to the battlefield."

People who are slaves to their emotions are a liability on the battlefield. They are very easy to goad into doing something incredibly stupid.

Slaine's biggest problem through the whole series is that he absolutely refused to consider the consequences of his behavior until they jumped up and bit him somewhere sensitive, and then wondered where the hell they came from.

Do ballistics tests even exist in anime?

Also. Seriously. Why does everyone keep assuming Slaine is some obsessive yandere who is keeping Asseylum's 'corpse' for some sinister means?

Because something something Aldnoah something will probably bring the princess back next season and he knows it, somehow?

[up][up]

There's four reasons Slaine could be dragging Asseylum's body around.

  1. She's not dead.
  2. He plans on burying her.
  3. He plans on showing off her body.
  4. He plans on showing off her body privately.

One is self-explanatory, but how he knows that isn't. Two doesn't make sense because there's no dirt in space and it's implausible that the Tharsis could get to mars in a reasonable amount of time.

Three would make some sense if it would make the Martians more likely to trust him, but that seems unlikely given how they've reacted to him so far. Remember that Asseylum was shot with the same type of gun that Slaine is now carrying, and Slaine's already been set up as a member of a pro-terran conspiracy by Sazzy. With the latter's apparent death at the hands of the Terrans, Slaine's going to have the deck stacked against him on proving him wrong.

Meanwhile, the last episode has firmly set him up as being horribly broken, betrayed by everybody he's met, and with nothing to live for. People in that situation don't normally have healthy, well-adjusted personalities, and the fact that he was already somewhat obsessive over Asseylum seems to play into that. Four may not be likely, but it's convincingly plausible.

@Myssa Rei

I've seen Rayet's line translated elsewhere as (Unlike you) I don't have time to die (play dead). Not sure if it's any more accurate, but it seems to fit better with the way it's grouped with Yuki's line. (Visually, Marito and Inko's lines are "A", Rayet's and Yuki's lines are "B", and Darzana's is "C")

Unless there's in unending torrent of new information, yes. The last BD doesn't release until after the show starts back up again in January and there's nothing before then that would really be changed, so the only thing to talk about would be the previews.

Speaking of which, Aoki Ei is throwing MORE speculation fuel into the fire. From yesterday's radio interview:

So those who theorized that Slaine and the princess were related somehow: nope! I do love the comment on Inaho (the gist being there's no way he'd get up immediately after that... because he'd die quickly in that condition XD).

It's entirely possible that Slaine is trying to return the body of the princess back to mars.

Added some more stuff, but it's mainly what we already know. Someone who's certified in JPLT 2 could do better of course.

So to summarize:

  • (Saishūkai wa gen'an to wa chigauga story wa mamotte iru. Michisuji ga chigau.): Confirming that what we got for the ending wasn't how the draft for the finale started out as.
  • (Troyard hakase wa kanzen ni chikyūjin): Dr. Troyard is a natural-born Terran, more or less.
  • (Hime no hahaoya wa hime o unde suku nakunatta): Asseylum's mother died giving birth to her.
  • (Slaine wa motomoto motto yashin no aru hito. Ima wa kokoro no barechatta hito de yori dokoro wa hime). I'm not sure about the second part, but the first part is more or less "Slaine was originally supposed to be a much more ambitious character. But right now his heart's too broken up because of the princess". Not accurate, but close I think.
  • (Ichi-ki ni dasena katta nōryoku no robo wa niki de dete kuru): Context required, but something about the abilities of the robot being kept secret for the first part, then only revealed in the second half.
  • (7-Wa no saigo Marito-tai ga utsu yotei da. Daga producer no no hitokoto de Rayet ni.) Episode 7's final shot should have been done by Marito, but the producers decided it would be done by Rayett instead.
  • (Saishūkai ni niki no hinto ga ippai atta). The gist is "The final episode has full of hints for the second cour you goddamned blind fools!"
  • (Hime wa shōsoku fumei de shinda to wa iwa rete inai). It's not stated if the princess is dead or not, its just that her whereabouts are unknown.
  • (Inaho wa ano ato sugu ni mukutto okiru koto wa dekinai. Ano jōtaida to shinde shimaimasu.) Inaho wouldn't have been able to get up (after Slaine shot him). Plus he'd just die immediately if he tried.

Is this talking about the Terran or Vers robots? There's been hints and speculation about the former, but the latter doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
