Something to keep in mind... Reynir is more than capable of contacting, by total accident, anybody who touches on the dreamspace. Guess what the dead (and safely) departed in many traditions can use to communicate with the living?

Depends on what happens to a particular dead person. Do they go to rest? In that case, do not disturb. Do they go so far away the signal will not reach? Without an extra strong spiritual radio tower? In that case, tough luck. Do they choose/are forced to reincarnate? Then contacting the soul is out of the question.

The Swan of Tuonela is the Finnish psychopomp. That great, big bird that our little puff of soul was following along the bird path? Was a certain ginormous swan doing his/her job.

In short: guiding souls where they're supposed to go.

See A Redtail's Dream for when the gates of Tuonela occasionally get slightly crashed because of edge cases.

I read that. I know.

In short: it means her soul is passing along as a Finn is supposed to. Rather than becoming a troll. I doubt her body can become a black-speech emitting troll without her in it.

Which means talking to her is forever impossible. UNLESS the sleep of rest does not actually last forever, and people's beliefs are super wrong.

Read some eddas and folktales... You'll find that dreams are one way to Speak With Dead (but, beware of false dreams and spirits trying to trick you into thinking you're talking to diseased loved ones). Dreams are the intermediary space for a lot of thing. Like planes of existence.

There's a reason Onni and Lalli defend their bubbles against spirits, sure. But, it isn't just "nasty horrible troll-things" they will be wary of. Tuuri might be able to communicate... if she can remember their passwords — or can badger Reynir into helping her gate crash. Although, doing so would mean a few epic quests of her own, first — not least bluffing a certain swan.

The overall atmosphere is so incredibly melancholy still that it's hard to muster the enthusiasm I actually feel to say yay Mikkel and yay Emil. :/

Unforunately, I'm more than a little worried that Sleipnope is due in the none too distant future. Not much yay in me at that thought... :/
