For anyone who hadn't seen it, the facebook page for Mass Effect Dark Skies is currently hosting a fanfiction contest. The story with the most likes wins a gift card. Naturally I bring this up because I've got one in the running. But there's some good stories in there all around.

Here's my behemoth story, Special Ops.
Inspired by the ambient multiplayer conversations in the Citadel DLC, especially the Fury and procurement officer.
Started off as an idea for kicks and giggles, grew into a serious effort to practice my writing skills.

Basicalliy, it's (or will be) a retelling of the entire trilogy, with a proper ending in mind, i.e. the Reapers actually have logical reasons for doing what they do. Slightly AU - I decided to rework a few things, like the backstory and role of Cerberus, the shape and structure of Geth platforms, etc. Also, it's a Vanguard Shepard, and being a Vanguard actually plays a role plot-wise.
i do plan on finishing it eventually, but i'm currently working on a different project first.

It's also a crossover with Frozen.

i said "core of the stealth drive" not "mass effect core."
"core" as in "central/critical component" like "Power core" or "AI core" or "FTL core". those are all different components.
well there's Misapplied Phlebotinum for you =P. have a perfectly good method to extend stealth systems indefinitely and it all goes to waste...

If Elsa becomes a "romance option", it'll only happen during the events of 3. Which I will be covering.

BTW, the next chapter of my fanfic is up. And we finally get a proper introduction for Commander John Shepard.
So, can you guess his backstory, service history, class and whether he's Paragon or Renegade (or a mixture)?
I have the intro and the first chapter (incomplete though) up on Google Docs. Let me know what you think. Hey, since the last post was about guessing who Shepard was exactly, let's have you guess who Shepard was in my fic.

As long as everyone else is promoting themselves:
It's a Mass Effect/Fallout fusion that avoids the standard "humanity is so very cool and original" issues. Shepard is kind of crazy, but in a fun way. I'm getting a lot of indiscriminate praise, but I feel like my dialogue to description ratio is way off. Check it out if you'd like.
I have one that is hopefully humorous. It's what would probably happen after Shepard takes that severed Husk head from the Leviathan DLC.
I noticed there was another Mass Effect fanfic thread, but it didn't really went anywhere. Not a lot of activity and all. So I decided to kick things off here. Whether it was yours, someone you know, or something you like, post it here!
To start, mind the shameless self-promoting, my fanfic, Mass Foundations. It doesn't have much, only two chapters with the second entry. If you're wondering, it's inspired by the likes of Mass Vexations and Masses to Masses. I noticed several tropers aren't a big fan of these types of fics, especially the former. But I can assure you that I'll do my best not to fall into the same pitfalls as Vexations.
Anyone else?
