So there's some kind of element that's toxic to humans? I wonder who's mining it. Insurrectionists, Covenant remnants...?
At first I thought they were talking about the Flood but then it sounded like some sort of mini-Halo effect that only targets humans.
Borne By StormsAn element toxic to humans, and only humans. I am facepalming so hard right now.
Also, for a trailer for a Halo series, that video had surprisingly little to do with Halo. :|
but HOW?Well of course, it was probably a teaser just setting up the plot.
Doesn't change the fact that apart from a namedrop or two and that shot of Installation 04's debris at the end, there didn't seem to be anything to distinguish it as Halo rather than generic sci-fi stuff.
but HOW?Didn't Ridley Scott already make that one Halo movie?
The one where they discovered that Forerunner ship on a distant planet, except it was infected with Flood, and when they woke the Forerunner up from stasis he tried to kill them all?
Borne By StormsHehehe, I get it.
What you did there, I see it.
Wait, there was a movie about Halo: CE?
but HOW?Think back to science fiction movies with that general plot summary.
Oh, District 9. Got it.
but HOW?Close enough XD
(For the record, I was being intentionally obtuse the whole time. :P That said, considering how Prometheus turned out... Meh.)
but HOW?Could it be the Flood dust from the Bear books?
Also, I'm wondering if the "only harms humans" part might just mean that it doesn't go after pets or wildlife; I mean, there might not be any ex-Covies around on said colony world.
EDIT: Either that or the Flood is testing humanity (or getting revenge for not being able to get Johnson).

28 Times Supreme Champion of the World Whosball SeriesThe very clear ODST armor half of them were wearing kind of establishes it as definitively Halo.
What about the one where Master Chief has to use his feelings to destroy the massive space station?
Halo 2 Anniversary Cinematic Trailer
28 Times Supreme Champion of the World Whosball SeriesI love how I can still get chills up my spine hearing the Halo theme XD
But yeah, it's weird seeing how different everyone looks in today's graphics O.o
Fuck my life, I need to get a One.
Alright paychecks, time to squeeze a little more money out, let's save up enough to buy this by November.
Likewise.
It was easy telling myself "I don't need to bother with next gen" when I had no stake in it, but good Lord, if they don't know how to pull my money strings.
I'll probably have to rely on someone being extremely generous for my birthday or something though. Can't afford to spare any money right now.

Borne By StormsYeah, I guess I'll have to be relying on good ol' Youtube myself.
Also, since this week is the week that keeps on giving, some more Catalog answers. And since offscreening Black Team wasn't enough, the three main surviving Gamma Company characters (Ash, Mark, and Olivia) from Ghosts of Onyx are also implied to have been killed offscreen (though a clarification implies that the bodies were never found. Also, we get a continent of origin for the "mainstream" Jackal sub-species.

28 Times Supreme Champion of the World Whosball SeriesHoly hell do the cutscenes look amazing. If that is anywhere near the graphics of the actual remake you'll have a bestseller from a 10 year old game.
Do we know the remake philosophy behind Halo 2? Will it be slavishly faithful like CE Anniversary or will they include some mild changes? Really, so long as they remove the mandatory iron skull on Legendary co-op that should be fine. There are some minor nip and tucks they could do to make the game actually better than the original, although Dual Wielding is probably too big an aspect of the game to just take out.
I think "tons" would stretch it, and they weren't really meant to fill in backstory for uninformed players or anything. But it was a step in the right direction.
Audio, video, and text logs, with a database to refer back to them later, that would serve the purpose of filling in backstory and adding new stuff to the lore at the same time. Can't see a downside.
