Mythril Tenament, 1258 Ace Avenue. Basically a more explosive and less coherent Avenue Q or Seinfeld with twice the explosive capability and half the plot advancement.

Would that make Lilith a Sitcom Archnemesis except with the actual possibility of killing everyone?

I would also accept Mythril U. Both Fergus and Hector would make wonderfully bitter T As.

Lilith would be the eighth year senior, laughing at all the scrubs taking their tests seriously.

So for the record Reid is now officially the oldest standing Frame pilot on the Centauri side, and the second-oldest overall, and remains the lowest-ranked. mumble grumble why did I make him so old

At least he has potential.

Lilith is bound for either prison, ten more years on the run vacation, or the rest of her life in promotionless hell, doing missions designed to kill her off.

Old people are good, though.

They know they've wasted their lives and will never have any chance of finding anything worthwhile, so they have nothing to lose, and they'll throw themselves in front of bullets for the young people to get the chances they never had!

So is there any set info on Skallen outside of the blurb from the link in the signup or am I okay to add stuff within reason? (Things I should have asked before posting)

Just that its leader is Zone Commander Calven Hobbes.

[up] Pretty much. I was going to mention that Wryte has a role in it, but mostly as an MA:AG vet, you're in a pretty good position to imagine the initial diaspora and a slow rebuilding process.

It's worth noting again, that its a large collection of asteroid colonies (the only Asteroid colonies mentioned in the blurb, though there are more); fairly sizable but largely artificial. No atmosphere to work with means that it should really be a work station but due to refugees and people wanting to leave Midgard, it's sort of expanded beyond the general intent. So, less terraformed planet and more a collection of facilities with a handful of vatfarms and terraces, maybe a handful of parks for kids but even those would be fairly half assed.

I'd also be inclined to add Pirates and White Cross Remnants (My planned, slightly implied but never revealed ROZUM counterpart. PM me for more info there) operating in the area loosely due to Asteroid fields being harder to maintain order over traditionally in Scifi but it's more a handful of troublemakers in an overwise stable and growing colony than full Wild-West/Spain Main style disorder. Hobbes may or may not be responsible for this relative peace however, with a slightly more tense future promising to arrive provided that he isn't given an equally skilled successor. Honestly, writing this makes me want to run a minigame there...

Honestly in my head I imagined that the "Main" areas are fairly calm and easily maintained, then further out you have contracted companies running the mining show. I figured they would be using "Security Companies" to make sure things didn't get too dicey being away from the Federation's patrol bubble, but we'd still need to head out and slap some hands because someone just so happened to "accidentally" not notice that a few of the petit-frames they were using as target practice happened to belong to competitors. And then on the outer parts you have the scrap collectors, the shadier companies mining, and other hard knock life types that you have to keep a close eye on to make sure they play nice.

Words in "Quotes".

Yeah, it's a mining operation first and foremost, with its colony status coming from the growth around the core mining operation. The colony is contained within pressurized domes or underground complexes, and light on creature comforts. It's basically just a much larger version of the asteroid base we started the game in.

Piracy has been an ever-present problem for the colony due to the value of the minerals it exports and the ease of hiding in the asteroid field, but security has tightened up significantly in recent years, which many colonists attribute to Zone Comm. Hobbes. Because of its remoteness from both Federation strongholds and the Centauri front, Skallen receives relatively little military support from the Federation, and most inhabitants feel some mix of resentment toward the Federation leadership and pride in their colony for getting by without it, though they are on the whole pretty loyal to the Federation. You'll hear lots of grumbling about the top brass not giving a damn about them or being incompetent, but anyone talking sedition at the bar is likely to get their ass kicked. Hobbes personally is pretty well-liked by the colonists, with a reputation for being practical, straight-forward, and no-nonsense. After being in charge of the colony for a decade at this point, most colonists consider him more one of their own than an outsider.

[up]A counterpoint to "Accepted as one of their own" is that the Colony only really started filling up a few years ago. Certainly there are a few hundred Miners who worked there periodically but as a permenant colony, Skallen's only been around for a decade or two (20-25 years, people started staying permenantly to avoid war, even sending a few kids up to avoid hostility but only once peace was settled 10 years ago did they actually look at it and say "This looks like a good palce to expand and live in") and only since the System was cleared did the Feds really get the chance to sit back and realize just how much Alluminum and other minerals they were sitting on outthere, giving the incentive to fund a pretty substantial expansion.

I didn't mention this before to Gi G as Midgar(d) was pretty clearly divided along cultural lines back in MA:AG, but here's the extent of my notes;

The Population is mixed; Mostly Midgarders (who may well have adopted Hobbes as their own) with some planetary outsiders but Midgarders themselves are pretty divided. I'm planning to rename them since MAAG (as we've gone less fantasy and more real in term of place names) but essentially you have a Nordic Majority (though they've got internal squabbles, between; the Rich Swedes who are the 'mainstream' culture, Trader Danes/Norwegians who are sort of friendly rivals to them and the downtrodden/bitter Finns and Baltic peoples who settled the southern jungles to maintain their culture) as well as the distrustful American Libertarians (Who have been pretty influenced by the Nordic/Norwegian Culture of Midgard), Internally divided Irish/Scottish/New Zealander settlers (With some who took the Cent side now fleeing to Skallen) and a Southern Group who were sparsely settled over the rather warm southpole who speak Mande with heavy Hassaniya Arabic influence. Also present but in smaller numbers is the Min Chinese colony which has been traditionally isolationist and is still realing from the war and the largely Aubian (Centauri-French) settler population who loose treaty rights if they do. And as mentioned before, you have on top of this small communities of various offworlders...

Hobbes has to deal with internal conflict as much as external. Both due to cultural tension and lingering alleigences to both Centauri (Largely former collaborators bitter at their treatment from liberators) and Rebel groups like White Cross or Pro-Provincial Autonomy groups, though most of these are content to be quiet now (except maybe as political interest groups and democratic parties/factions)

Also looming is the longer term question of what happens after the rush; at the current pace, they might have minerals to mine for a hundred years, maybe more, but as people start settling up there, it's raising the question of what will they do once it's no longer a good investment. Without Minerals, the Asteroids can't really produce much that isn't cheaper on hospitable planets and they cost a fair bit to maintain. It's feasible for now but it's a mineral rush culture that will bottom out sooner or later.

I'm dropping in really quick to say I haven't been around this last month because I had a death in the family (I told Parable and Dragon via IM/PM, but I don't know if they passed it on to anyone else), and while I'm still not feeling up to R Ping just now, I'm hoping to be able to get back into things in a couple of weeks. So I haven't completely disappeared like some people *coughrabbitcough*.
