And then there was silenceI'm on my second playthrough.
The Nightmare Frontier and Cainhurst are sort of a hard reminder of just how goddamn tight and consistent this game really is. These optional, easy as piss to miss areas are still intricately designed levels that loop into each other with shortcuts, and an equally insane amount of detail out into the scenery as well. Imo, nothing ever drops the ball as hard as it occasionally drops in Dark Souls. Every level is worth playing through and exploring.
Besides having fun thinking about it, I have come up with either the dumbest or most brilliant idea to get around breaking the level curve while finishing Old Hunters at the same time: I won't level up at all, from now on. I'm at 39 Skill/Endurance, and 9 Vitality because I am stoopie, but all that Stamina and a bit of git gudding can set you for the rest of the game, so all the echoes from now on are basically Blood Vials

"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018Not really sure if anyone's gonna reply to this considering that Dark Souls 3 just got out, but here goes: I need help, and i mean tips, strategies, just anything like that so that i can get past...
*Drumroll*
...Those three hunters who are now occupying the Hypogean Goul in Yahar'gul. They have shown to be an outright pain in the arse. So if there's any good method out there that you happen to know about, could you maybe share them with me? I'm running out of ideas here.
If I remember right I lured them into the hallway nearby and fought them one at a time.
Oh really when?Which one is it you mean? The stairway that leads downwards to where you fight the darkbeast or?
Because really, i've just sort of been trying to bait them outside to a certain point where they won't follow me.
Then of course one of them enters beast mode and charges towards me without any care in world and stuns me into a corner.
But you do mean down where the stairs are, right?
I managed to separate them finally and get one of them killed. Now there should only be two of them when i return, right?
Did you manage to visit Yahar'gul earlier in the game and explore thoroughly? If you did and opened a certain door, it's possible to bypass them. I did, and then went back later to kick their arses, because they really are a pack of dicks.
Also, if you manage to kill one, they don't respawn, so even if you die it's one less to deal with next time. Consider just going mental on one of them.
edit - Didn't actually read that last post, yes, that should be the case.

If you clear out the area with all the casket monsters, you'd be surprised at how effective a Hunter-B-Gone those fireplaces are
And then there was silenceThe Hunters Nightmare has no chill, man.
I mean, a Bloodstarved beast as a normal enemy? what the fuck....
Watch SymphogearThat's nuffink compared to what awaits you on the very end.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Honestly, The fishing hamlet is a bit easier then I expected, the only annoying enemies are the shaman and giant fish people, especially compared to the Atorias level difficulty that is Lady Maria.
Watch SymphogearI'm not referring to the hamlet itself...
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence. My brother bought this yesterday,so I figured I'd give it a try.
Went with a Skill based character, armed with the Cane and the Blunderbuss. No idea if that's a good build or not.Still getting used to the controls, but it's pretty fun so far.
Secret SignatureI believe the cane is the only starting weapon that works well with DEX. I'm not sure there are all that many DEX weapons in the game, actually. There are definitely some in the DLC, but they seem to have been added specifically because there are so few in the main game.
That said, starting weapons can totally get through these games, so it's not all that bad a thing. Then again, I never tried the cane, so I could be totally wrong in this case.
I definitely used the blunderbuss the whole game though. I think the choice between that and the pistol is just preference. I believe the blunderbuss takes slightly longer to fire, but it's just a case of learning the timings, and since I tend to pre-empt such things anyway the delay kinda works for me, I guess :P
I like the switch from Sword to Whip.I keep mixing up Power with Quick attacks though.Kinda dangerous.
Enjoying how well I can run around.
Managed to kill the two dogs before my 2nd death.Got done in by the two big guys shortly after.Later runs haven't been as succesful, but I'll get the hang of it.

Secret SignatureDifficulty-wise, how does this game compare to say Monster Hunter? That's probably the toughest game I play as far as fighting freaks that take practice to figure out. Tempted to buy a PS 4 and there's very few games I'm interested in. Despite my reservations about Souls games and their "GUD PLAYRS ONLY U SUXXOR" difficulty and community, this would be the game I'm most interested in as buying new hardware goes.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984As similar as some aspects of their combat systems are, I'e heard it described (and agree with it) that SoulsBornes and Monster Hunter have very different aspects of their difficulty emphasized. In Bloodborne, imagine that you always have Evasion+3 on - you have very forgiving i-frames if you time your rolls right. However, enemy tracking is much, much better - to the point that i-framing through attacks is usually the only way to really dodge them.
Monster Hunter is much more about positioning, but the SoulsBorne games are more about timing. You never actually have to back off from a boss as long as you can rolling forward into their shins at the right time.
They both share common themes of resource management and learning enemy attacks, however. As long as you pay attention in Bloodborne you'll do fine, assuming the level isn't bullshit.

Reached the first boss.Managed to chip off around a quarter or third of its health before dying. Then the Doll finally woke up,so I can level up.Might go for some silly minmaxing. Also buy molotovs, they seem like they'd work on most things.
Secret SignatureWhy am I not surprised, Plague? XD
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Much as I usually despise their stuff, this is golden .
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Yeah, some of Plague's stuff can get a bit...odd.
That's what he gets for living in Tennessee, I guess

Those unarmed ones are very manageable, but the armed ones can really fuck off forever. I only managed to eventually get past the one on the path to the lighthouse by just running for it.
Feel like I've screwed myself for fighting the ones in the well though, by defeating the Orphan and now no longer being able to summon help.
