May 3rd, 2017. It looked like a normal day, of sorts, though for the gaming club, composed of very few people at the moment, they still feel bitter that the anticipated Drag On Dragoon IV was cancelled even though gameplay and development was finished.

However, for the rest of the school, nobody really knew or cared for these odd video games mostly developed in Japan. Life went on. Bitterness over this incomplete chapter would fade, so said their parents.

Set in a town in northern California, the protagonists soon find themselves looking at an unprecedented situation - each of the members of the Gaming Club and those who are interested in joining find a Computer File via email which contains the finished version of Drag On Dragoon IV, apropos of nothing.

As soon as the program is opened, however, each of the protagonists' phones let out a sound showing that the phone is downloading something, an Application called ARCHETYPE. Almost in tune with this, the announcement systems at the local high school began to play an eerie song so loudly it could be heard within three miles and it began to rain ash from the skies, the sun eternally it seems blotted out by depressive clouds...

Fundamentally, this RP will involve a lot of Metafictional Angles, with the protagonists dwelling in a world much like our own when fantasy and gaming begins to intrude. You will recognize a few of the individuals. However, as part of the Metafictional Angle, so will others.

A large theme of this RP is Identity and how one creates and chooses an identity, and whether people have a choice about certain identities.

As for Archetype, and the Pact System, yes, those will be a part of this RP. Archetype is how you will proceed, an evidence of your progress and capabilities. What will you make Pacts with? It will be a widely varied selection, and you'll be able to choose this time.

Strap yourselves in folks, this is about to get freaking weird!

[up] Could be interesting, color me intrigued

And by really freaking weird, I mean "we might fight a (fictional) Cavia Studio Executive" weird.

This is somewhat reminding me of Shin Megami Tensei a little bit... I'm intrigued.

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.

Facinated. Will it get Grant Morrison weird?

Good to be back

One of the candidates for Big Bad is a Cavia Executive waving around a two sided greatsword and shouting that he created this universe of Drakengard, so he can doom it to destruction if it pleases him.

Yes, it will get Grant Morrison weird, if Morrison ever had a battle in Animal Man that involved DC Executives.

I'll submit my character to give an example, basically, the characters are named similarly, but with slight modernizations:

  • Name: Caim Caleon
  • Age: 16
  • Appearance: Basically, Caim as we remember, though as shown in age, quite a bit younger, but transplanted into the present day. He's got the menacing, quiet look to him, seeming slightly intimidating. It looks like he's not all that enthused about having to wear upscale clothes like what his parents prefer. Practical is fine for him.
  • Personality: The primary difference here between Caim in the main Drakengard games and Caim here is that, owing to 3, something weird happened revolving around the first two games' events. He's now basically who he was before he was Caim the Landless Prince, being a quiet, fight-savvy prince, but not quite the same sociopath he used to be. Being a member of the video game club, he seems to be mostly uncaring about the resemblance between him and the main character of his favorite game. He does have two notable Berserk Button's - do not hurt his friends in the video game club, and do not disrespect his sister - indeed, it seems he does care for his friends a surprising amount, given his otherwise quiet outlook. While stern and usually not the type for humor, he does trend toward being a Deadpan Snarker. Another facet of him is that he conceals the fact he's as geeky as the other club members. He is astoundingly Serious Business-like about finishing games, hence why the situation with Drakengard 4 bothered him a lot. His smiles are very rare, but you'll remember if they happen.
  • Background: His father, Gaard and his mother Ashley are co-owners of a local business, Gaard being known as "King" due to his restaurant's motif. It appears that he met the others in the video game club by protecting them in some way, and all of them hang out at the same place at lunch at school. He seems to have really taken the fact his name means "Protector" in Welsh to have a specific "meaning" in regards to his life. Being the big brother, he has also had to protect Furiae from people who've been spreading nasty rumours that, surely, are just that, rumours. He has his own suspicions, and they unnerve him quite a lot.
  • Archetype: Sword Change: By holding his phone aloft, he can exchange it for a sword, and he finds he can use this sword very well indeed. He can also change the sword out for any weapon Caim collected in Drakengard 1, as his Archetype levels up, the kinds he can get change.
  • Pact: Is it even a Spoiler that Caim will get a pact?

So, thanks for the interest, guys.

Make sure to create characters knowing what happened in the previous games...in all of the routes.

Its rather important.
