I can sing demise of the ritual
HAAAHEIHAAAAHOOO haaaheihohAaahooo oooooooo ooooooooo oooooooooo
And then there was silenceI have the HD version on the PS 3 but haven't played much of it yet. I remember people saying, "the monsters don't even attack you, you attack them first! Who's the real monster? SO DEEP!!!" Yet when I played, the first colossus tried to crush me to death with its giant foot as soon as it saw me. -_- Didn't really feel bad about stabbing it until it fell over.
Nah, I felt all fine and badass at first.
Wasn't until the third or fourth one that I really felt terrible.
Oh really when?most of the colossi are massive dicks
Like the sandworm guy that chases you
And then there was silenceMaybe it gets better later on, but I honestly lost interest trying to kill the second or third one because the controls are bad and I didn't feel like playing if all I had to do in the game was complete a checklist of tedious boss battles before the credits roll.
The controls are pretty clunky
Still, it looks nice, and when the controls work you suddenly feel as if you are having steroids drawn from the biceps of hthe Undertaker injected into your dick
That is to say fuggin awesome
And then there was silenceWhat Trip said. People who claim that it has perfect controls because "OMG teh realsm" need to learn that there is a difference between realistic controls (which is what happens when controls actually work) and clunky controls (which is what happens when controls don't work, which is more often than desirable). That the devs decided to go for realistic in terms of our world is irrelevant; when I say "when the controls work," I mean "when the controls do what they are supposed to do," not "what I want them to do."
I also never really felt anything about killing any of the colossi, the I can understand the sentiment as far as Hydrus and Phalanx are concerned, since they really were just trying to get Wander to let go the only way they could. Less so for Avion, since it could have just ignored Wander, but still more than the others.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyOh, gee, I didn't mean to open up a COMPLAINT thread. Shadow of the Colossus is my favorite videogame.
I do agree that it is not perfect, though. I found the battles pretty epic, but after you run through the game the first time and go for a second run, they become pretty easy. Even "Hard Mode" is fairly simple. I like the game for the aesthetic of a lonely, empty world and the opportunity to climb all over giant things.
(Why, yes, I am also a fan of the anime "Attack on Titan"...)
All playthroughs after the first for me have been about "being in the world for the sheer atmosphere." I really love the stark atmosphere, the "feel" of the game. I'm the same way with The Legend of Zelda's Wind Waker - easy game, but I enjoy replays because I find it pretty.
As for killing the Colossi... I sort of feel bad for it, but not in the way that "I can't complete this game!" that some people feel. Obviously, I've run through it several times. I'm not quite up to speedrun status yet (I'm just not good enough to fell Malus in a minute flat...)
I interpret the Colossi as being like wild animals that you go into the environment and hunt. They aren't "evil" like most videogame bosses, nor are they particularly destructive to their world (the stuff they wreck trying to get at you aside) - They're a *part* of their world and *you* are the outsider. This means, yep, with the exception of the ones you literally have to attack first (Avion) and the one that just wants to float away (Phalanx), they'll try to kill you, but I see them as being well within their rights.
The Colossi I feel absolutely no guilt in dispatching, however, are the two "small" ones, the ones I call the "cat-tanks" - Cenobia and Celossia. Those things are *VICIOUS.* They get you down and YOU. ARE. DEAD. MEAT. It's hard to get out from under them once they're slamming you - like cats slamming a mouse! So, once I crack their armor and get on their backs, I get the "Ha! Ha! Stabby, stabby time!" attitude I get with most game bosses.
Er, like I said, I've written fan fiction for this game. I try to write deep and sad stuff, but an online friend of mine who didn't like the game as much as I did and felt the need to make fun of it... I wasn't above writing a humor piece making fun of Wander, Dormin and the whole set-up just for him. I am willing to link/share, upon request.
In which I attempt to be a writer.Sorry, didn't mean to sound like I was complaining, I guess that was just a little baggage from other places that are... vocal about what opinions you are allowed to have.
I do love the game, though not quite as much as love Ico. In fact, I think my heart skipped a beat when I first found the beach from Ico's ending. If I had to choose a favorite colossi, I would probably have to say Gaius, since it was the first one to really have a clever little puzzle to it, and after that I was sold on the game.
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyI just got this game for the PS 3. The only real problem I have with it is that I get lost easily. Of course this isn't a bad thing. I enjoy just roaming the world!
"You can't swallow what I'm thinking!!"Ha, actually just started playing this game again recently. Good timing for a thread bump.
I don't find the controls that clunky, to be honest. Camera is wonky for sure (look game I know you want me to marvel at the scenery or how big the colossus is and all but could you please just let me see what's directly in front of my feet so I don't fall off a cliff or something) but climbing and moving around feels pretty fluent. You just have to know the timing for when to climb so you don't end up getting shaken by the colossi too much. Mapping jump to the triangle button was a weird decision though.
Yeah, the camera does suck... Fine game otherwise!
"You can't swallow what I'm thinking!!"i don't really understand why people consider the game's controls clunky. Just because they are different from most action games does not make them terrible. i never had any problems getting wander to do what i needed him to do.
It was hard to understand at first, but... I have had no problems with it. I suck at video games though, so that might attribute to some of the weirdness. Also, The Horse. Is his/her name Aggro?
"You can't swallow what I'm thinking!!"A Shadow of the Colossus.... remake.
I mean there's potential I guess but I question the need.
Watch them buff the graphics so hard they run smack into the same frame-rate chug-a-thon yet again, ha.
Yeah, this is a thing that doesn't need to exist.
I'm surprised more people aren't questioning it.
Well I cant say the game has aged very well and well loved so an HD version could have been nice. But they are labeling this as a 'remake' so I assume its going to have a bunch of changes and probably more bosses, if that is the case I am fine with it.
Do we think they might add in the Colossi they had cut out and double the total number?
Doubtful. That'd be a whole lot of work just for an updated release. Doubly so if they're actually just re-texturing and updating the previous game's engine instead of building it from the ground up.

They aren't going to add or change anything, they're just rebuilding everything from the ground up to make the exact same product all over again. I don't see the point of it but namaste.
Ew.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseI don't mind. It looks even better in The Last Gaurdians engine then ever before.
Watch SymphogearThey did say they will update the controls for it. The tastes in control style have changed in the past 12 years.
I'm perfectly fine with this as long as the framerate is great I would love it.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureI was going to ask you guys if you thought they would add any of the colossi that got cut out (the Spider one looked like it would've been a bear), but I guess that hyperlink pretty much Jossed any chance of that.
Dang it.
I mean, I'm more open to this since I've never touched any of the previous versions of this game and have heard nothing but praise, but why not add stuff like colossi that didn't make the cut at first? It sounds a little backwards IMO.
...Maybe they thought doing a straight port of the PS 3 remaster would be considered lazy? I have to admit, the Colossi look even more epic on the PS 4.
Okay, I did a forum-title-search and the only thread I saw for this game was one for the not-yet-movie (that's in production hell)? I did not see a general thread.
So, who likes this game? What do you think of it? Do you have any Wild Mass Guessing for it that's not on it's page? Do you do any fanwork for it or know any good fanwork? Favorite Colossi?
I recently joined a fan art club for Sot C on Deviant Art that has some nice pieces. I've done a few fan fictions, including a Legend of Zelda crossover.
My favorite Colossus is Phalanx, the flying dragon / snake / sky-whale creature. Very tricky to bring down, but that's part of why I like it.
I once did all of the time-challenges on normal mode and earned all of the weapons, only to ACCIDENTALLY ERASE MY FILE. That was almost a year ago, I think. I still cringe. Serves me right for killing all those magnificent creatures (more than once).
