I have basically no idea what's going on, but I thoroughly enjoyed it none the less

I know I wasn't the only one thinking Megaman Battle Network when MC plugged in not!Miku at the end.

Introduction sequence. Also very Shafty.

She's just as annoying as Nyarko. She has a knack for talking, and talking, and talking...

I kinda like how she's calling him master without suffix.

I get a sort of Ajimu vibe from that schoolgirl with the scarf.

It feels exactly like Bakemonogatari in a different setting. Mostly dialogue and strangely clean architecture.

I hated Nyarko and Ene is almost same, yet I realy like her. Not sure if there is something different about her or just cause I know her backstory, but she is one of my favourite characters.

Also I don't think Shaft was so good idea, if even quite standard and realatively linear "artifical enemy" became confusing as hell, how it will look when realy complex part of story kick on?

Jin's artwork is pretty post modern. It is either SHAFT/Shinbo or JC Staff/Ikuhara.

I hear this has something to do with Vocaloid. Anyone mind explaining?

There was a sequence of character songs, each focusing on a specific person who had (or develops) the red eyes. They're basically character back story, and they're loosely interconnected by virtue of nearly all the people knowing each other. There was no real plot until nearly all of them were released, but in hindsight said plot interweaves everything. The novels, manga and now the anime are covering that plot.

Pretty much all of the information covered there should come up or be irrelevant. If you're primarily interested in the anime, then Shinigami Record, Lost Time Memory, Ayano's Happiness Theory, and (especially) Outer Science are all spoiler-heavy, because they're central to the series plot.

Edit: Also Toumei Answer currently, considering what they're doing with a character central to that.

Saw it, was pretty okay. I was never one for SHAFT's style though, and man did they go full-on SHAFT here.

Will be following if only to see what all the hype's about. Also, the black swimsuit girl in the ED.

The manga, actually, which was based on the song series.

First episode was Artificial Enemy, second episode is Kisaragi Attention.

Yes and no. The majority of the character background will be the same, it'll hit all the same notes, but various things are going to happen differently. (For example, the song Kisaragi Attention ends with a concert that takes place the same day as Shintaro leaves the house, and said concert probably won't happen here.)

I think it's been stated as being an "original story," so it may not happen exactly as the manga or light novels did. (Kagerou Days is listed as episode four, for example, so that suggests that Headphone Actor/Yuukei Yesterday are getting shifted or interspersed throughout.)

On another note, I was so displeased with the debut episode's climax that I had to type about it to let it out. Check it out, there are pictures to help wash the words down. =P

First that thing with thumbs is real thing and it's cool.

second you would have point even without using manga references whole time (manga itself is adaptation of LN which itself is adaptation of songs), which sort of annoying and hard accept.

If that means you're ready to read them, then sure.

I know I held not much ground going just based on the manga, which is why I pointed it out. Sorry 'bout that, I just had to let my feelings out. Like a waterfall.

I mean, can I just watch the show without reading stuff? I mean I keep hearing that this is really confusing.

I'd wait and see until we get to Outer Science or something a bit more plot based.

I heard that Outer confusing as fuck in the manga too :(
